Just download any mod and try to open every file in it and figure out what every file does and what files are needed to your own mod.

Would anyone be interested in helping me with a map that I'm making? I started it a couple of months ago and did like 50% of the mapping but then some things came up and I forgot about it. I just recently begun editing it again, hoping to finish it but it seems like I'm biting off more than I can chew.

It's a medium-sized map which is supposed to be a multiplayer map where all four players have the same advantages. I feel like two of the areas are larger and feel less rushed, whereas I've had less space and time to dedicate to the other two areas. I'm also having troubles balancing each starting area.

It's my first time making a map so any criticism would be helpful. Even if no one wants to help me out, maybe someone with more experience can atleast take a look at the map and see if they could give me some helpful advice? Thanks in advance.

But can't do that without the map itself). And can't promise that I'll have enough time for more than a few quick looks and advices.

Commanders are considered an alien mechanics to heroes 3 in general and will not appear in HotA. As well as creature experience, taxes, food supply and all other things that don't have their place in classical heroes game.

I've been playing HOMM HD (SoD and HotA) for some time now (thanks nik312 for your help with installation), and there is a repeating problem.

I get this error when launching the game:


"Unexpected Program Termination.

Files from Heroes III are missing. Please reinstall Heroes III."


Usually there is an update of HOMM HD, and I create new HD exe files in HOMM HD launcher, and then it WORKS (HotA version not always), without reinstallation of Heroes III...

Full swamp? On this scale of map it's quite useless to pick anything else but Cove...

it is most unfournte and also above my understanding. it seems that you made new town unballanced for over the only next thing: the only town with 3'rd upgrade (sea man).
also you changed defs for helbardiers and orcs, but only for those two, why not for atleast 1 of each other? and 3'rd question, the only thing that is missing even though its "alien to h3" is commanders... but thats my opinion.
(also how to uninstall it? wog won't run anymore?)

Yeah or Fortress. But that's sort of the point. It's a HotA map after all.

You should have a folder called "Uninstall_HotA".

I read an (old?) interview with Docent Picolan on Acid Cave and he mentions compatibility with WoG/ERA, is this still planned?
Also how is it going with Forge, can you maybe say a percentage of how complete the faction is or how far we are from seeing it?
Also any other news would be welcome.

So, new year is around the corner and here I stand, patiently waiting about any new information about this great project.

But the project seems a little bit too silent this year, maybe it's just me, but It seems like there isn't coming anything big I guess.

Or did I miss something ?

p.s.: I know many asked, but I'll ask again, is HotA or will HotA be able to translate into another languages, other than English/Russian ?

Official translation to other languages is not planned, but we'll probably try to make it more simple to create unofficial translations.

@ nik312: i forgot to let axolotl know that the sounds i made for his creatures only match up with my version of his creatures(meaning, i cut some unneeded frames, and i also tweaked their animation speeds in cranim.txt). i hope he is still able to use them. i cut most of the animations by half(on the naga tanks, the "evil" trees, and on the juggernauts/dreadnaughts. i also didn't make a shooting sound for the dreadnaughts, because my dreadnaughts don't shoot), to better flow with the existing creatures in homm3. the 1st half of the attack animation for the juggernaut/dreadnaughts i left, to give the(however brief) illusion of them "powering up" before the attack.
