Ehm..? Sorry, I don't think we understand what you are talking about there). HotA doesn't really use other modders' work or ideas, even as "inspiration". It is a pricipal point for the project. In rare cases we may ask for cooperation, but if it works out it is announced publicly (as we will do when we finish with those palm trees that you've helped with). Everything else is 100% original content. So, whatever you considered as "using your ideas" definetely wasn't that (I'm not sure that many of us are even familiar with the exact content of your patch - no offends ).


i was referring to your team's maritime barrels and lost cargo, shown here:



the barrel graphics i used to make ocean barrels myself, which are going to contain resources(minus wood and ore) once they are scripted were shown in this screen in my patch thread:



there are comparisons there, for sure. but realistically, it makes sense for ideas like these to be implemented by more than one person or group. we have a lot of the same ideas in mind; your team and i(and others, i have no doubt). i only wish that we had the same graphical ideas in mind.


*before i forget, i wanted to let you guys know that in the current release(1.4), some of the new water buildings, and one of the old, have unanimated surf.

What is the difference between HotA_1.4.2_full_setup.exe and HotA_1.4.2_setup.exe?

I noticed the "full" setup also installs some HD component, and that I now have "h3hota HD.exe" as well as "h3hota.exe".

Is this the same as the HD mod, or is it something else?

Full setup works without original game files and is not an official version of HotA (in a sense that we don't give links for it in english community). It also comes with HD mod, yes. Install-and-play build. But we cannot distribute it freely as it contains files from original game.

Usual official setup works only ontop of installed Heroes III (SoD or Complete)

1.4.2 update is available!



The update fixes some bugs and does not introduce new content. Version 1.4.1 was not released publicly and has been used for internal testing.

Download HotA 1.4.2

Also, a new utility has been created to convert saves from 1.3.8 to 1.4.2 format. Unpack to root folder of Heroes 3 and launch to convert all saves from "games" folder. Works only for saves w/o password.

As for bugs... I've noticed same as in all other heroes3 same as wog and hota... When you got tons of artifacts and switching them between heroes and/or equip them lots, you inventory gets broken after some time of switching/swapping the stuff around. I think it happens when you put some items in a certain slot on your backpack. The bug itself manifests as backpack, what is anounced to be full, even if its not, also items that went from inventory to backpack always vanishes and one slot less is in the backpack after that, so you'll lose that artifact and the backpack slot itself. The bug is quite random (can't reproduce it on purpose), if you dismiss the hero and rebuy him again same bug still exists.

Is the feature that allows you to see all the skills etc of a hero already in the create game lobby part of HotA? Because it's great!

However, it only seems to work with randomly generated maps for me. Is that intended?

It is a part of HD mod. But the graphics and idea is by Docent Picolan (lead artist and coordinator of HotA). Baratorch (the creator of HD mod) is planning to add it for fixed maps in nearest future

Excellent, you guys are doing a fantastic job with this classic. Thanks a lot!

It really should be an official expansion, and you should get paid for the work you do. But since there's probably a good reason it isn't.. Is there anywhere to donate to the project?

Sounds great with the bug fixes of the newest update.

So I found the Horn of the Abyss artifact for the first time today and I think you guys have created a new Cloak of the Undead King. I managed to get 1196 Fangarms when I won the game. They are 5th level units, might aswell have been Power Liches!
Maybe this artifact needs to be toned down just a little bit...

No. Bastion project is not in any way related to HotA and we don't really see the point of anything similar in our game.

Just installed 1.4.2, but when I try to start my HotA map in 1.4.2 the game crashes as soon as I click "BEGIN" and it does this every time.
I tried to downgrade to 1.4.0 and then my map works perfectly again.

What could cause this crash?
I have placed NWC's old Market of Time just for decoration, your old genie lamp and the fires, waterfalls and stone in the map, could they have anything to do with it? Or do you have any idea why?

Did you use Town Gate in your map? If you did, you'll need to replace it with the same object from the new editor. If you did not then yes, maybe it is connected with one of those old unsupported objects.
