Good observation. He could have +3 speed from artefacts, though. If it was a Basic Slow that was cast on him, that is. This could be a valid explanation for it.

Really crazy shower thought now. It's the mysterious boot feature that somehow gives the Magogs +3 speed when utilized. Maybe your whole army sits over a round then gain some speed? I mean, sometimes when you get mass slowed without a counter for it then you can only wait/defend while waiting to be picked off by your opponent who has superior speed. But I don't even know what I'm saying right now, so don't take me too seriously. But any change to how Slow works could be quite significant.

Maybe demons are immune to curse and slow... since these are curses... or something like this Unique feature for Inferno or something

you either added an option to disable requiring a player to have at least one town, or the guys in the first screenshot are really screwed.

and is that a new spell that the golden golems are attacked with?

question: are there new maps introduced in 1.5?

@foerno

Good point! I also noticed something else on the first picture that was odd. I mean, how can Cassiopeia only move two squares when it looks like she has at least 1000 MP on the right? Am I missing something obvious?

About the melting, it's just an alternative death animation when a few monsters are killed by a spell, I'm pretty sure. They probably used a Fireball or such that doesn't overlay on top of the animation. Anyhow, the status bar does state what spell was cast, if somebody here can read Russian.

Good job hippox!

Also don't worry about the horse and Cove fort, I would probably make the same mistake

EDIT: I like the idea of giving Inferno more stuff, I know it's not common opinion, but in vanilla game they were always missing something. The whole town had a lot of weird and bad game design choices, at least compared to other towns and it's a shame since I like demons.

I also hope the update was delayed from the balance issues as well, I've yet to give my constructive opinion on Cove in the meta, but there are few issues that I wouldn't mind being slightly tweaked.

Inferno's only problem are the missing lifepoints imho. You can't really compensate for them, maybe lategame with tons of pitlords and diplomacy. If diplomacy gets nerfed now, Inferno is quite snowed... so they'll need a buff.

As for first picture, yeah... haven't noticed the missing town. But it makes sense... But in case of travelpoints it may just be a script or a test.

@P4R4D0X0N

Yea, it's probably something like that. It's hard to explain it otherwise.

--

Anyhow, I have now noticed something else that is strange. We talked about the effective speed of the Macogs in that one picture, and how it could possibly be so. But now also looking at the attack/defence value of the same Macogs, the math doesn't seem to add up.

The Macog has 7 base Attack and 4 base Defence on non-native terrain. On Lava it gets +1 to both. Pyre has 5 Attack and 7 Defence bonus.

Therefore without any reductions:

Attack should be 7+1+5=13
Defence should be 4+1+7=12

However, in the picture the Macogs' effective attack value is '10' while the defence value is '7'.

The Macogs are under the effect of Curse/Slow, which doesn't lower Attack/Defence, unless something has changed.

So, speculations, the RED hero might have a artefact(s) that lowers attack/defence of the opponent.

Again, am I somehow missing something obvious that makes me a fool, I've been up late. Or do you agree?

I think its possible now to survive longer than 7 days without any town. (very interesting to test diplomacy and very tough gameplay aswell -> you mustn't lose any units and money is also very low) In third picture there is defintely a new skin for Oris involved, she isn't a standard female barbaian anymore in that screen. Same counts for last picture... thats not a male Elementalist anymore as before. I always wished for that! One of the best changes so far imho.

Would be awesome to have more factions... but thats an impossible task to do... :/ I know myself hardcore sucks and this sucks epic.

+1
1.5 looks stunning and I can't wait to play it, I really enjoy a lot all the additional content Hota provides but new towns is the really hot stuff. Cove is fantastic and yet new towns of this level of quality within Hota mechanics would surely be outstanding, but I can't complain, we are already getting spoiled a lot with this project.

I recall at some point there was some rumour about a collaboration with author of Oasis town for VCMI, Nephretes, but I also recall it sadly didn't work out for reasons I do not know.

Just forget about it, it was long time ago. Anyway I am also waiting to play 1.5 - looking good so far. I like new neutral unit the most.

a Desert Town is a MUST HAVE, Dont Care if is Oasis or Bastion or Another, imagine all the possibilities with a sand terrain based town.

Sand creature like or Worm, that cant teleport in battle if the battle is in sand.

Terrain no movement penalty for heroes and creatures in sand.

all the RPG related contenct in the series, like Braccada, Dragonsand, Ironsand Desert, etc.

I think that the only terrain with no TownBased is sand.

You already have a lot of creatures that are in the series in the deserts.
Mummies
Tritons (on the subterranians)
the Gorgons! (MM8)
Anubis (Various Games)
Trolls
Genies
Nomads
Sand Worms (Might Magic 5)
Sand Flowers (Might Magic 5)

And also you can out all the VARN/Ancient's Technology/Forge related things as a part of the Town. (like in MM6) and the terminators (or robo-creatures planned for A. Blade)

Sure, a sandy town would be nice, I would replace "Tower" with it... since tower has the characteristics of the town type common in other HoMMs (magic based town is more or less always in desert [see Academy]). As for tower -> neutral town now and replaced with a viking like town. (I posted a concept here: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=40812&PID=1337600#focus) But I don't have the time to make a town like this... :/ Maybe in a few years, when I got more time...

Also a deep sea town is missing, you would need another Layer of map for it (also diving ships), or just use underground biome for it with water stuff in it. Fangarms could be an unit from this town.

Why replace? They could hack the game and add a tenth town, Era replaces. Besides, Tower is my fav town to play with.

Yeah adding an 11th town would be awesome and a desert town would be perfect, but I am sure that is a lot of work.
Nephretes' Oasis would have been nice, but oh well.
A snow and ice based town could also be fun.
I would also like if it was possible to add more players and colors than 8.

In that sense, there should be a water town also, but if you ask me, the game is already good as it is. Only a couple of features to random maps will be handy, like blocking diplomacy, dd, fly and such for giga maps ... tasty ...

I think it should be quite easy to implement a predefined ruleset when generating a map... like "Tournament Style" with bans on spells, skills, stuff on the map. Maybe also a template for "everything allowed" for all heroes (Mullich, Gelu...) and all artifacts (AB, HotA e.g.) Could also be interesting to play a "Classic" map with only the old stuff... e.g. WoG did this with rulesets... something like this is quite possible. BUT... dunno how HotA team think about this

BTW, now that I've thought about it, I'd love to see some stuff similar to the water ruins, but on sand (and maybe a few types of desert hils with little to no vegetation? Or an oasis-type desert lake?). I know it wasn't the intention to create some proper desert environments in HoMM 3, but still... I really think that, just like water, desert could still use some lovin' (even though the dunes were an awesome addition and overall made making maps much more interesting).

If it was for me yeah... I would like more desert objects like the skeletons and dunes they added... maybe some special and unique stuff too. I like the pyramids (learn a lvl5 spell)... more of this  quite special stuff would be awesome. A dried out sandy ocean wourks great I think, you can also use the objetcs for coastlines aswell to fit in the HotA theme.

Hi, right now i am creating a new huge hota map with version 1.4.2. i already put many hours of work in it. Will this map be playable with version 1.5?

I have a suggestion: May it be possible to create longer names for heroes? Right now only 12 characters are allowed. Would be nice, becuase when you give some champion a title like Captain or King, then there is not enough space for the full name.
