If the center hex targets your vampires, then yes you will damage your own vampires, otherwise undead are immune to Death Cloud attack.
You can control where to shoot with liches/magogs, with "G" on your keyboard, it was a nice feature implemented by HotA Crew.

So it is supposed to hurt my own undead units because it is the center of the death cloud? Ok it makes sense like that.

Yeah, otherwise you would'nt be able to hit enemy undead either.

You can think of Lich attack as one with two components: physical plus cloud. Physical component (that hits the central main target) impacts any creature, whereas the death cloud that is formed around the center impacts all but the undead.

Elementals, Golems and Gargolyes are also immune to Death Cloud.

after reading the changelog over at df2, i understand the graphics in the screen a bit better now(which i was at odds with initially). great job, guys. looks like a ton of work went into this update. quite beautiful.

I just updated my version in under 5 minutes using 'HotA_launcher.exe'. Maybe try that if you already have HotA installed.
I've yet to read the changelog, but I can say that the new objects at least do look very nice and interresting at first glance/thought. And the 'RMG Template Editor' is there, too. I look forward to sitting down and actually playing/watching the new version for sure.
Anyhow, as always, a big 'thank you' and I wish the crew a very happy New Year! You guys still rock it.

I doubt there is trojan in update but in my case game crashed several times(didn't open) after update and finally worked.

If you're using HOMM3 HD mod, it can create for you a single-click launcher for HOTA. If you had done that for the previous version of HOTA, you need to delete that exe file and re-create it with HOMM3 HD mod after you update to 1.5.0...
