I remember finding that map back in the days, the visuals were neat(the map clearly had more artistic approach) and I knew about the alternate Gnoll Hut a while ago, but I don't remember seeing anything other there.

I still can't find two other two objects you're talking about sorry...

It's interesting that you taught the upgraded elementals to cast their Protection from spells. However they does'nt seem to use them very intelligently, now they focus on casting spells instead of attacking. I can understand them casting spells if they can't reach or shoot the enemy, but otherwise they would be better of attacking would'nt they. But I guess coding AI is'nt easy...

Boots of Speed, and Seer's Hut. You can put it under the trees, for example, and the Seer's Hut is hidden. Then the cross is free. AI is easy to find.

New maps in latest version

Hello.

I have a question regarding the latest RPG maps, Talent shortage and Sword an Fire.

In talent shortage, I am absolutely unable to defeat the last stack of angels, because the archangel strikes first and kills one of my shooters before I have a chance to do anything. Am I missing something? Was this fight intended as unwinable (without the loss of one shooter)? Or perhaps, did the author intend a fight against two angels and the game sometimes replaces one of them with an archangel?


In Sword an Fire, I am unable to get past the 4th fight. I just don't know how can 40 centaur captains kill a stack of 12 boars without a loss. Because when I attack it, I always kill 7 boars and the remaining 5 kill one centaur with retaliation damage. Even tried the defend option, but the bonus only last for the one turn and there is no way how to both defend and attack in the same turn. Only way I can imagine is that if the game decided to split the stack of boars into 2 stacks of 6, but I have absolutely no idea how to force it to do so. How do you beat this thing. I am going crazy.

Hello, yes I remember that fight and truth to be told, I almost always skip it since again, it's not required and the only thing you gain is access to Magic Spring which you should have in few other places on that very map. Though yes my bad for not reporting about it in my review

The only two times I didn't skip it though, one time I still had the Crusader in my army instead of Zealot at that point since they have more hp and defense. I've baited both angels to attack either Crusader or the first aid tent/ammo cart (i dont remember which one it was sorry). Later Ive just kept my two units behind force field and killed Archangel with the Sorceress.

Another time was when I've discovered that the stack of 4 Nagas can actually join you, which helped a bunch after few retries I just did it without lost units.

You have to find a moment when your centaurs kills exactly 8 boars and it occurs always in 6th round of the battle.

In my opinion there is nothing to correct. Thanks to this "riddle" with boars, map was much more interesting for me




The reason why the boars don't separate in stacks is because the map was tested on russian version of the map, simple change of the map's name changes how this battle is laid out.

in "with sword and fire", could someone explain why the centaurs can never kill the right number of boars until they suddenly can on turn number 6? i always thought damage is dealt by taking a random number from the damage range. why would it change depending on turn number and what kind of logic is that?

Because of that map I learned there is no RNG in Heroes, it's all scripted as soon as the battle starts.

Hi

I have just encountered a weird thing.

In the map "The devil is in the detail", there are 17 different unused heroes for castle. However, in the starting window (Show advanced options when starting game), there is a selection of only 16 heroes (full 4x4), making it impossible to select and start with the last one, Caitlin.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Yes, the selection is always limited to a maximum of 16 heroes. If there are more than 16, the last ones will not be available for user selection. But they will still available through random hero selection and, of course, during the game.
It is neither a bug nor a feature, but more of a limitation.

So, I tried the new (since last update) map : The devil is in the detail.

I already finished it twice (Tower and Pirates) and thought I could actually try to win without a single save/load. Got an incredible combo of heroes: Adela (diplomacy - banned ingame), Caitlin (gold), Eovaticus (doubleclone), Aine (gold+scholar), Alamar (resurection - that is otherwise only quest reward). And bam, mid week 7, mutare dragon with 33-33-33-33 skills, 10 fairy dragons, 10 black dragons and corresponding size of the rest of the army lands on my main island.

Yeah, some of those pink and teal heroes were a real pain on that map. I only played and finished it once. I guess you have to be really lucky with their movement. I never had one of them land in my starting area during the playthrough.

So I tried once again.
And now I am stuck. Literally. Pink player gets in a loop during his turn and never finishes. Tried 5 times. Always the same result. Game doesn´t crash, so no crash log. Does anyone of the developers want a copy of the savegame? Version: Latest (1.5.1)

HotA now has its own template list. We haven't added there many templates we consider low-quality from HD-mod list. You can add any template to HotA_RmgTemplates folder if you want to have it in your list.

I suspect localisation isn't done properly using for instance gettext (such that translations could be hosted at Weblate, Transifex,...) but in a rather custom, hacky way.
