Alright,so if i rename one of my templates (random mayhem) to rmg.txt and put it in a folder named..."random mayhem",will it recognize it?

With all the backlash about Resistance and nerfing spells I forgot to thank the team for the change to Miriam's starting skills, I asked for years ago. Now both skills make sense in a scouting specialist, making her a must have in large maps.

I meant normal type rmg maps, indifferent of size, thus it contains larger water bodies. Before patch x, the rmg generated shipyards, after patch x this is no longer the case, and if I can afford to play, I prefer these settings, that`s why I asked for a workaround or rather more for a fix.

according to the hota documentation, water random maps are currently unplayable.

Is there is any way to change hero specialties/starting armies
for HOTA random maps?
for example: Change Sorsha's swordsmen specialty to something else,like offense/pikemen and her starting army etc.
is that possible?
i feel like it should be,but how hard is it?
also,it's for singleplayer only atleast.

I asked for something similar sometime ago, to have the specialties available in a dropdown list in the maps editor.
But at that time HotA was still the bastion of conventional gameplay, lets wait and see for how long it will remain loved now that has all the downsides of a WoG custom map without the upside of allowing you to change whatever you want.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to share my ideas on how to fix some of the more useless/situational skills. Namely, Resistance, Sorcery, Mysticism, Eagleye, First Aid and Learning. I took into consideration the fact that Magic heroes are considered weaker, especially because of their inferior skills. So this is an attempt to even things out a bit.
What I would like to accomplish with this, is to add greater variety to the game. Particularly whether to use Might or Magic heroes and to accentuate the difference between them. So, without further ado:
-Resistance*: Reduces effect of hostile spells by 10%/15%/20%

Spells:
-Magic Mirror: Expert Mass Spell
Why do I think Magic heroes should get Resistance? Because it makes more sense, since you'd think Witches and Wizards that spend all their time learning magic would know how to counter it; and because it gives a reason to take them over Might heroes. I'd say invert the Might and Magic probabilties for it. Although the skills chart would have to be tweaked a bit...
Also, I'm not sure if it should affect Berserk. If it also lowers area of effect by percentage, then Fireball, Inferno and Meteor Shower would be affected. Which doesn't seem right. Maybe it should just affect Berserk and lower the damage of the others.
Note, that Sorcery would not only get increased to 25%, but that it would also affect Resurrection, Hypnotize, Animate Undead, Cure and Sacrifice. Something to consider.
So, I think this would change things considerably, and that it would make many formerly inferior heroes viable. Imagine you have Halon (Mysticism), you gain a level and have to choose between Resistance and Sorcery. Before, it would be like "Nooo! Resistance or Sorcery". But now, it would be more like "oooh, Resistance or Sorcery...which one to choose...?"
Mysticism is still inferior to Intelligence, but now at least its not bad. And you could get them both, if you're so inclined.
For First Aid, it's not the skill that's bad so much as it is the mechanics of it. It's only really useful for high level creatures, and even then it's very easy to destroy. So I think it would be good to increase its health and to allow it to ressurect. It would require a bit of testing to get it right though, and if it could ressurect I can see that being abused. But it's an idea.
As for Learning, well...maybe if the percentage is increased it would be more useful? I can't think of any other effect to give it. Eagle Eye either. Maybe someone else has an idea?
Finally, as I was looking through the spells I noticed Magic Mirror is such a pitiful spell. But if it becomes a mass spell on Expert level, well...that would make it MUCH more useful. Considering that it IS a level 5 spell.
Anyway, that's all I can think of for now...I'm aiming to make more heroes and skills viable. Imagine Malekith the Warlock: before he wasn't such a big deal, but now, he would be POWERFUL. And I think that would be fun and good for the game.

If you want, you can change the font for those tables. When writing or editing posts, there a "Compose Reply" section to the left. One of the options there is the Courier font, which is a static size font for all characters, including spaces. Just place the text within the Courier tags and format it, as you'd expect the spacing to be.

I think you implemented the courier tags incorrectly .
I can see the [ courier ] [ /font ] tags at the top and the bottom of your post, with no text in between. You need to start your table with the [ courier ] tag and then end it with the [ /font ] tag. That way, your table will be displayed using the courier font, instead of the default one.
This is a table with the proper tags:
