  I would like to thank Hota Crew for their amazing work. I still can't belive that my beloved game will recive such a huge add-on in upcomming year. Really, 11th faction was my small dream since I discoverd your Expansion and Cove (about 2014?).
  Model of town on adventure map looks nice. Portrets of new heroes - Todd's and Bertram's - are great. Hard to tell more about units cause we haven't seen them yet (only small picks on hero display) but I'm quite sure they will be awesome as well. I like that with Factory you will bring another new terrain. Wastlands have unique vibe that fills Heroes3 landscape well and also have strong heritage of second game instalment.
  I have small problem with fact that it will belong to natural alignment. I was sure it will be good/evil with possibility for 12th faction in the future on the other side of the conflict.

Hope that in upcomming weeks you will reveal more information about new town screen, units, heroes, artifacts(?), general concept and plot. Hype is real and it will be easier to wait for premire with more informations availeble.

Well, that was tottaly unexpected

Started to loose hope for a new faction. But here we are and it's... something different entirely. I assumed Cathedral or Forge had the biggest chance to be released. Instead we recieved... a combination of both? Dark aestethics of Cathedral and mechanical-oriented aspect of Forge. Ofc those are my first impressions, I could be wrong here. At some point I was thinking that, even if I'm not a fan of Forge, I would gladly embrace it if it meant we would be getting a new faction. This is sooo much better!

I wonder how it will fit the rest of the game. Somehow I don't see Wild West flavor in H3, but it can grow on me. The closest faction in H3 it resembles is probably Tower as it's also about science/artifacts and constructs. It also seems similar to Wizards Town from H2, maybe that's the cue here, with the terrain and all?

When it comes to line-up as always in my case the more monsters there will be the better. We already see 3 humanoid units, so here's hoping taht aside from the snake the rest will be something in those lines. Dragon Golem seems a natural choice, plus I kinda liked the unit in H4.

*Lore maniacs, is there some reference in the books for a faction like this one? (EDIT, found something: It seems original H3 developers when conceptic Forge also thought about Julius Verne/Steampunk inspired version of the faction. Don't know if it's true but this was mentioned on Russian forums)

Given that you reworked the Conflux Fort/Citadel/Castle sprites is something similar still planned for Dungeon (where the 3 levels look almost indistinguishable)? Some years ago there were some WIP screenshots on DF2.

Right now, the interfaces of the map editor and the RMG editor don't scale for HiDPI screens. Additional map zoom levels could mitigate the problem for the map editor (in case that's a simle solution).

no sonny, but if I will make up some fan fiction it might be the happy-go-lucky version of the Forge after they fixed the Gate of the Ancients, as opposed to that grimdark Forge of the Dark Side lol

you had mentioned some of the developers argued to make a more steampunk Forge but that is not actual lore, but yes it is for sure true lol

Imo Pirates are more belivable, even if not mentioned in lore (although Cove is supposedly Regna). Pirates are everywhere, even on this forum

Artificers/Steampunk strikes me as going into uncharted waters, even if we did see Dragon Golems and Constructs in Heroes games already. Or does it actually make sense? Guess we still don't know that much about it. I don't mean it's a bad idea, just that it will probably need getting used to...

Btw remember this movie Guys?

Dudes, if someone's coming out with content that you don't like, why even mention your distaste? You do realize that negativity can end up shutting down progress/content release, right? There are people out there who'll most likely enjoy ANY new content for a homm3 platform, period. Just saying.

When trying to download HotA_1.5.4_setup.exe    I get a warning for the file containing virus.

Is the file safe to download?

The rebalancing of secondary skills and spells is still one of the highest priorities for the future versions of HotA.  The development of Factory will not affect these plans or the speed at which they are implemented.


It sounds great, I have been waiting for years for that. Will rebalance update be realised before Factory update or in same day?

^^What exactly do you want? If it's just changing some percentages, you can easily do it yourself, for example Learning or Sorcery 10/20/30 instead of 5/10/15. If you want entirely different mechanics for for example Eagle Eye or First Aid things get more complicated...

It would certainly be nice if some skills were buffed, but imo First Aid (it isn't that useless, you can heal a top tier unit nicely), Mysticism (this one is actually solid as a starter skill) and Sorcery aren't that bad. And you can always... not pick them? If you don't have a choice, one dud skill is not tragedy...

The problem with First Aid it's how easily the tend gets destroyed, if not one FA specialist of high level could use a Crystal or Azure Dragon to beat a week 10 army in a similar hero.
So, maybe the tweak with First Aid should go in the sense of making it untargetable.

in the factory video we see the hero who accepts eagle eye so I guess that in the next version already balanced, I think that the factory is already ready as other cities for some time, but as they said in a post of 2012 could have added other cities after the cove only when they were able to rewrite the entire code of heroes 3, because the original code has limitations and can not add more cities, so if they add the factory / I think they have managed to rewrite it

We are far from adding new cities now because of code problems. In the closest versions there will be only minor futures (or not minor, but not very evident, as in 1.1), bug fixes and new campaigns. Presumably the rewritten version, which will allow us to add new cities, will be called 2.0. It will not be soon and I think when most of Forge's graphics will be done, it will be done.

I would not make any assumptions about any secondary skills from that video. It simply exists to tell us about Factory. I don't belive the secondary skills are done yet, as there seems to be nothing hinting towards it. However, based on Drslash's post, it could be possible we could still receive Factory + secondary skills patch at the same time, if the skills are really treated as a top priority now.

I remember Nik once said the first number in the version number indicates how many new towns there are. So if we would ever receive Hota 3.0, that would mean Cove + Factory + yet unknown town is present in the game. Still, 2.0 would be a big milestone for the team, and they really might celebrate the 2.0 by releasing Factory and a big bunch of other changes all at once.

So far it seems 2019 might be an exellent year for all homm3 fans.

about cities are only hypotheses, we'll see what really happens, in part it's already a rich year for homm3, hota 1.5.4, succession wars and maybe Mdt Mod for vcmi
