This is true, but Heroes 3 did lean more towards D&D than 2 and 1, and magic-used-in-artifice/artifice-used-in-magic is a time-honoured tradition in fantasy literature. There's also Might & Magic lore: using magic to enhance your artifice of objects that are in themselves mundane is a thoroughly established thing, and not just in the Ancient parts, it is something that Enrothians definitely do even when the games are set (for example, item descriptions that mention a forge enchanted to be able to reach and tolerate higher temperatures).

I could see a Dragon Golem return, or something like it (the Crystal Dragon being level 10 and so not suitable for de-neutralizing). Magical and clearly constructed, if in a Dragon Golem-style more mechanical than Tower's constructs.

Have you not seen Cove's creatures? I could find arguments for why Cove's level 2-7 units are OP + they have the cannon + their heroes have the best starting armies + they have some hyperspecialized heroes.
The only thing dragging Cove down, is that their units are quite expensive and Mage Guild is limited to level 4.

Well, HoMM3 balance isn't made for single player guys like u Phoenix... My suggestion would be to just deal with it or balance it on your own for singleplayer purposes. The official balance won't change for the good of singleplayers and it's the wrong in the first place to do so imho.

If that's the case, I am even more happy I am not a competitive multiplayer.
I have done a lot of balance changes, which has only made the game more fun and fair imo.

I think Heroes 3 is still one of the better balanced games of old. You can literally play succesfully with any faction cus each faction has something strong up their sleeve, be it a super fast aggressive flier or tanky mid-tier unit. Ofc I'm not talking multiplayer...

And Cove seems to be keeping in line with this.

Speaking of single player, ive been playing single mode recently only and even with creature banks disabled on 200% i can beat all 8 allied easily. Please consider improving AI, even a little boost would do the job.

That'd be ace. Even if it isn't possible to fundamentally change the AI algorithms maybe a few "smart tactics"=obvious bugs can be fixed like the Luna exploit or stacks following a flyer back and forth while being shot at.

In case of better AI you'd need logic functions. I personally don't know how extensive the possibilities are for HoMM3. Quite possible that it is limited to "IF" only... and IF in general leads to a clusterf*ck of code.

That's certainly not true generally for all use cases or languages. And code readability/maintainability doesn't say a thing about the performance/robustness of the resulting binary.
In this case there is no code anyway. Homm3 is proprietary binary-only software, reverse-engineered and patched by the HotA crew.

Dear HotA crew i love your work. Big Fan ! of HotA and HoMM3.
Only one question: why did you decide to make de Bounty Hunter a lvl 6 unit in the upcomming Factory city. I mean he is a mere human competing with cyclopses and whyverns not to say champions and nagas. isn't that a bit too much for a mere human with a rifle and no armor ? i see him more like a lvl 5 than a lvl 6.
Last i want to propose some units for Factory:
lvl 1: Halfling
lvl 2: Sand Worm or Giant Spider
lvl 3: flamefrower or mechanic
lvl 4: rainbow serpent or Quetzalcoatl
lvl 5: Bounty Hunter
lvl 6: werewolf or wendigo
lvl 7: Automaton or a mechanical dragon/golem/spider

^^ I think they already have decided on the Factory line-up, but I do agree a human as a level 6 unit is a little much. Halberdiers are level 1, Marksmen level 2, Crusaders level 4, Zealots level 5, Champions in full plate armor on a war horse are level 6. And a cowboy with a rifle is also a level 6? It better be some damn powerful rifle if he wish to compete with Champions, Naga Queens, Dread Knights etc.

Can somebody give me a few tips and tricks for the Evenmorn campaign level? It seems borderline impossible. I must have restarted about 20 different times and I'm not even close to finishing it.

In my last game I took that underground Dungeon Castle by Day 1, Week 3 - somehow defended it from a massive Necromancer army with about 30 harpies and 3 minotaurs while at the same time defeating that strong Fortress hero that emerges after a few weeks but then I'm left with nothing and then a new Fortress Hero appeared out of nowhere who wiped out my remaining army. And that doesn't even mention the Orange Barbarian guy!

I haven't had this much trouble on a map before which makes me think I'm missing something

There's some decent walkthroughs on english at youtube. But yes, it's hard map.
