One of the most amazing mods for heroes, why does devs don't want to make it fully official to all world H-community?

Like the Forgotten Empires mod for Age of Empires II became The Forgotten for Age of Empires II HD? Even if Ubisoft wanted to - and that is questionable - it isn't necessarily easy to do (and Ubisoft already wasted an opportunity with their Heroes III HD).

Ok guys, time to speculate again.

I've been thinking this since I first saw the town screen of Factory.

I would claim, that we're going to see a new resource type when Factory will be released. This new resource would be oil.

Why, you might ask.

1) We can clearly see Oil Pump in the town screen. Ofc, this doesn't solely mean anything, but atleast it would mean that the townsfolk there are - storywise - seeing oil as a valuable resource, something that is worth gathering. Why else bother having an oil pump? So they're clearly using it for something, but the big question is ofc, will it turn out to be a gameplay element as well.

2) Take a look at this Docent's post. If we take a closer look on the Marketplace's Resource silo, we can assume that it would hold some kind of liquid inside. I cannot see why there would be even pipes, if it really is meant to produce a non-liquid resource. Only liquid we currently have as a reasource is of course Mercury, but I would find it rather odd that it would turn out to be it, as that would mean you could get it from 3 different silos, and yet you could only get gems and crystals from one source each.

3) We know Factory's mech are from non-magic source, eg. they've actully been made and are mechanical, and thus, they could use some oil.

4) Wastelands seem to have plenty of oil in there. Storywise, it only makes sense to me, that people living in the wastelands are actually trying to make some use of that resource.

5. When Forge was developed, it was said that even some non-tier 7 creatures could cost special resources. If Hota would add oil, they could somewhat use this the old idea, but add their own twist there as well. This would also open some new desing space, like the oil based creatures could have bigger weekly growth, but the problem would be not having enough oil for everything.

So there's the "evidence" (lol), but how could this all work?

I think there will be 2 mechanical creatures in the Factory, and oil could be used to buy and upgrade them. Perhaps their buildings would use oil as requirement.  Also, I think there could also be some kind of after battle resurection for the mechs - you could perhaps use oil to repair some of the lost creatures.

You would get oil from both the oil pump and the resource silo. Also, there could be some other pumps or such in the wastelands aswell, and the player could capture them. Other players could not use oil for anything, but could still capture those buildings to prevent the factory player from getting any extra oil.

As oil would be a bit niche resource, I think it wouldn't be necessary to see it in the player interface, but players could always check their oil amount by clicking the pump in the town screen.

Note that I'm not presenting this as an idea, but rather just purely speculating what might happen. So this is why I posted this here instead of the idea topic.

Leaving aside the 'adding an extra resource is a large step from the status quo' thing, I see two issues: oil as an actual extra resource would only be used by Factory, a situation otherwise not true for resources (it'd be closest to a Factory-unique special mechanic), and the cited resource silo looks very much like an aspect of Wild West aesthetics - specifically, a water tank. It is, after all, not as if NWC's resource silos necessarily had much connection between how they looked and what resources they produced.

Hello,
as many of us know, skeleton transformator can change living dragons and hydras into bones dragons. Recently I was thinking about adding a new feature. After battle with dragons (or hydras), necromancy can revive some of them as bone dragons. This feature doesn't upgrade too much powerful Necropolis in multiplayer games, but could add new ideas for maps makers for using bones dragons in sigleplayer. What do you think?

Also I was wondering about Conflux. Hota crew added new terrain dedicated for this fraction, but still there something missing. This fraction doesn't has own storyline in campaign. It would be great if hota crew add one campaign for Conflux (I love how you made Cove campaigns compatible with M&M universe). Storyline could tell us how Elemental Lords unite together to protect world from invasion of Kreegans.

So you don't think it's enough CotUK can make legions of Power Liches, you also need Necromancy to make dragons?!
Both things are game breaking honestly.

CotUK is in use mainly in maps where author is planing this so this artifact is no too op.

How many ocassions do you have to fight with dragons? Usually you fight with them on utopias, sometimes you met them as a guard. After fight in max utopia you could rise for eg. 4 bone dragons, from guards you could gain also few of them so on the end of the usually map you could have not so many of them. In addition I tell you that on multiplayers games almost noone is bulding bone dragones dwelling, becouse they are too weak. So few extra dragons will be used as cannon fodder.
If this ability is too overpowered always you can nerfed it. For eg. you need to kill 10 dragons to obtain 1 bone dragon.

By the way, Conflux needs a rescore. The current "theme" is a jingle of 15 seconds.

What use would oil have anyway? Its useless imho to add an ressource that just benefits a single faction. You have to think in bigger dimensions if you balance a whole game or add a new ressource. Even the addition of mithril in WoG was bad designed imho. Same goes for the use and the fact you couldn't even display it.

I certainly would not expect a new resource (but I wasn't expecting a new faction either ), so, thinking along these lines, maybe a new resource could be added, but I am almost sure that oil wouldn't be the candidate - it would be terribly difficult, lore and thematically speaking, to make it fit into the game. Something like black magma or dragonblood elixir would be more consistent with HOMM3, imho.

Those oil ponds were already present in HoMM2 while "black magma" or "dragonblood elixir" sound like taken from a B movie.
