Hello and thank you so much for the greatest work.

I have a question:
Since I don't see any plugins, nor options in game, is there a way to edit some files myself to change Logistics skill back to 30% (Pre-balancing) and Boots of Speed and Gloves to their original Values?

I really feel the difference from "balancing" HoMM3 in a negative way and is why of the reasons not to prefer playing HoTA.

EDIT:
Changed it after reading some tips here:

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=42152&PID=1527566#focus

Boots of speed and Gloves have their values in .txt in one of the .lod files in data directory.

Thank you for the good work, HoTa team, but I really enjoy the classic movement speed, for everything else, good job!

Dear HotA Crew can you please tell me where the addresses for Logistics and Scouting are located in HotA.dll or does anybody else know?

Pretty please!
Maybe Necromancy too.

Just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone involved with the making of HotA. I never thought that a fan-made expansion could reach that level of quality, really impressive!

It's not certain at this point, anything can happen. Sav recently wrote that if he is going to still work with the game, it would be something with skills and spells, since that work has already been started (but put on hold since every resource is needed to make Factory) Therefore, if something will come out, I wouldn't expect anything "super big" like a new town for example. It's pretty much certain at this point that Factory will be the last town added to Hota, unless something unexpected will happen. I just cannot see them going thought all of this for a third time. If anything, I hope that there will be someone ironing out the bugs that will certainly happen in the 1.7.

I hope that they will continue their work on the Mod. Even if they just present small adjustments I would be happy.

Well, it's just kinda my gut feeling. Let's face it, some people in the team have been making Hota for 10+ years, and now the man who started it all is no longer with us. Also, creating Cove was a huge project back in the day, and now Factory has been in development around 2,5 years. Creating towns takes enormous amounts of time, and currently there is no development in any other area, because every resource been used for creating Factory. Probably not the most fun situation to be in. You could see the team kinda planning on moving forward already (the game they we're thinking about) so it's probably only natural that a project this size have very low chances of happening anymore. This is ofc nothing but my own thinking.

Ah okay, I thought there were some behind-the-scenes details being disclosed by the team.

Well yeah I'm ofc aware this is not an easy project to keep on going with and the morale is probably very low. But I thought there were some other factors I missed in-between the posts.

New towns are great, but I still don't understand why some skills and spells are still so horrible after so many years.
Maybe fix the game, before adding more chaos to the game...
There also still remains bugs in the game, they should also be a priority. (At least they were a priority in the past, hopefully they still are.)

To some extend I have to agree on. Sorcery should have been fixed for now, as the whole community thinks the skill would be very fine if the numbers were slightly increased.

But when it comes to the other skills, I don't still have any clue how some of them should be fixed. And by fixing, I mean fixing. I've seen so many suggestions how to improve some of them, but usually the ideas are only half-cooked, and the ideas only turn some skills only tiny bit better, without actually increasing their pick rate, and thus solving the actual problem.

What bugs are you referring to, btw?

Well maybe HotA don't have a clue of how to fix them either, but tell me then why are they still in the game?
What purpose does Learning have other than to mess up your hero? The same could be said for Eagle Eye and First Aid and yeah Sorcery would be incredibly easy to fix, make it 25% or 30% at Expert and people would probably start to actually pick this skill, at least for some classes like Warlocks, Heretics and Witches.

Ha, there are still plenty of bugs in the game, just take a look in the bug thread. I have posted several there myself, some are fixed others are not. Maybe they don't know how to fix them and that is totally fair and understable, but if they can, they really should.

Well seeing what they did with Resistance (replacing it with Interference), I'm inclined to think the delay is due to the fact that they've yet to agree on the effects of a skill to replace them. That decision is probably made more difficult by their apparent (Resistance was all-or-nothing on your units getting spelled, Interference reduces the enemy spell power) desire to reduce the luck aspect of the game.

Didn't HotA guys state on occasions that they don't like to "fix" the original game or at least it's not high on the priority list?

It's just players wishful thinking and logic that if they're making content for the game it "stands to reason" they should also "fix it" on the way.

I don't know myself... while I think making the game an overall better experience is good, "balancing" is a rather tricky subject. I know some of you guys presented some good ideas, and even ready-made-solutions, but as with everything, there are as many opinions as there are people.

So demanding action from HotA team should be taken with a bit of restraint when it comes to "fix the game first pls".

While I'm not opposed to tweaking games, what I'm mostly looking for and why this mod attracted me in the first place it's the new (quality) content. If an original skill or spell is semi-useful in the game, I just don't pick it.

But the strange thing is they already started it themselves.
They have changed Necromancy, Scouting, Logistics, Intelligence, Mysticism and Estates and thrown Resistance away for a much less interesting skill.
While they ignored all the really bad skills. I don't understand what purpose those skills have, they only serve as things to avoid.

Terrible spells like Slayer, Magic Mirror, Fireball, Inferno and Land Mine could also have been buffed a long time ago with great results. But stuff like Town Portal and DD is still perfectly acceptable game breakers, it makes no sense...

Oh, I'm not negating that if they have the will or ideas, they could go forward with it. But you yourself kinda confirm what I've wrote about in previous post - that it is much harder to implement general balancing changes, as even you yourself show how their ideas are already being contested. It's not about agreeing with you or not, it's more about how complicated the actual changes might be for the community. Seems there is no clear answer how to handle some balancing things as even the community has hard time to come to an agreement. Also it's easier to balance off a few numbers then "remove a bad skill" because you need to bring something in return to fill its place. We already had things made to "make the game better" like WoG, and it ended as a bloated "throw any ideas" platform.

The original promise was "new stuff, but with the originals quality and careful fixes of the original game balance". HotA is a great chance to extend the games longevity, and it would be a shame if it would be spoiled by balancing hell (especially when the updates themselves do not have a regular schedule). "Adding new stuff" is imo the safer route (aside from introducing unbalanced units ofc ), but it's my opinion and it might actually be a voice of minority...

I meant very old (SOD) bugs  or bugs that crash the game on regular basis. I don't even remember the last time I've seen or witnessed the game crashing. Only bug that I can currently think of that I wish they could get rid of is the magic mirror not being effective against the AI.

DD has restricted use under tournament rules, which is the go-to setting in MP games. Also, Phoenix is kinda cutting corners, as all the listed control spells are nerfed in Hota.

I'm not really into "big chances" either, but personally feel balancing (or, whatever one is willing to call it) should be done because only by that the game can really be played at full potential. Think something like a fighting game with 10 different characters, but only 6 of them are actually considered "fair" and not too good or too bad.  That would mean considerable amount of content is not actually played, so players will likely see the same characters and playstyles over and over again. In other words, if balancing is done correctly, the old content will also feel more enjoyable, and the builds can be bit more versatile.
