I so want to play Heroes 3 right now, but I'm waiting to dive back when Factory is released. Wonder how long I'll have to wait

One of the factors I tend to forget is that maybe they're still finishing the campaign? It might actually be harder then finishing the town itself

There was never really a need for factory or coven,but here they are. I wished hota tried to balance the game, but clearly that is never gonna happen. I wish a new team emerged that actually tried to balance the game, but that seems is not gonna happen either.

I could do it in era myself, but reality is without the ability of simultaneous turn and an good online lobby, there is no way to compete with hota right now.

It's a lot of work, and the Mod's creator has died. There's of course a full team remaining, but without Docent it may not be possible to start something this serious.


I wasn't necessarily talking about HotA team. They aren't the only people able of creating high-quality towns.

Well, that's opposite of me. For me new content is always the hook. I also think that is the case for many other players and HotA popularity (quality "expansion-like" content).

If they aren't willing to adress the useless secondary skills and/or other game problems, they should at least give us the option to either ban them from games or edit them from at least single player games and/or some MP templates (they already do it with navigation).

I'm tired of learning/first aid/eagle eye/sorcery/etc being non playable. It's been 4 years they've hinted about it. They've adressed necromancy, intelligence (even though it makes magic heroes weaker), buffed mysticism, buffed scouting, they even introduced interference which is nice, but weakens the magic heroes even further. But the bigger problem has always been how might heroes can get all the good skills and outperform the magic classes in every situation through every faction. And that's on almost every template, MP or SP.

I'm not even mentioning factions and magic shcools since we all know the issues by now.

It's clear that HOTA isn't going to give players the freedom to edit these things and using hex editor just give us partial variables on some percentages and numbers, plus we need to share the file with the other player we want to play with. We need a good editor for those things that isn't WOG.

But it will never happen, and I'm glad with what they've done so far. Could be better but at least they are keeping the game alive, despite its glaring faults.

What happened in reality was that magic classes were dominating the most popular competitive format of play (Jeebus Cross, single hero). The nerfs to intelligence and introduction of interference were a response to exactly that.

For sure. HotA feels like a natural continuation of the game, which is what makes their new content very exciting. It’s like we’re getting yet another expansion with the factory update. I felt the same way when I saw the age of empires 2 expansions some decade after the last one.

Anyone know what kind of stat growth factory heroes are supposed to have? I figured they were more of a might, defensive faction?

The work on the Factory keeps chugging along. Many have inquired about the progress, but it isn't exactly easy to quantify, seeing as the development is going in a number of directions simultaneously, with varying degrees of success. As of now, most of our energy is being spent on the upcoming campaign. Naturally, we aren't going to disclose any plotlines ahead of time, but today we decided to show you a place that'll be crucial for the entire Factory project.

We present to you this new cutscene featuring the budding town of Burton. In time, it will become the crucial mainstay of the artificers in the wastelands of Jadame, but at the moment shown here, it's just the beginning. No clanging steam presses, no humming furnaces, no chattering frontiersmen in the town square - and no town square, for that matter. Just the morning of a new day - and the beginning of a new era. Thanks for the news Appreciate it.

The release doesn't seem close then, so probably at least half a year of waiting or more. I knew the campaigns are main focal point atm.

That said while the render is top notch it doesn't quite strike me as something from Heroes 3. It all seems really mundane, out of western fantasy genre even. But maybe it'll need to grow on me, maybe in the context of campaign events the atmosphere will hit me or sth. And the buidlings themselves are a bit... blocky?

The cutscene's looking good, although blob's got a point (well, that was the first thing I thought of too). Perhaps a somewhat cloudier sky (but still bright) and more "movement" could help. There's also the fact that it didn't suffer any compression yet I suppose.

That's what I've been thinking, that sounds like a good idea. But I think there is work to be done on the faction itself aswel.

Happy to see progress. The campaigns of HotA on Impossible difficulty were a source of great fun (and frustration, lol) to me. Looking forward to Factory campaign. It also seems like a town I could possibly main, haha.

Simultaneous

I love simultaneous turns, but when they get interupted they can be brought back by saving and loading the game again. I think it would be nice if there was a buton or option in game to turn them on.
But best option I think would be to have simultaneous turns entire game on.

Watching this for a second time I only noticed there's a guy in a sombrero sleeping on the right

Still, this cutscene doesn't hold a candle to the Quoatl one which the team released some time ago

Hota Improvement Suggestion

Hello,
first of all I would like thank to everyone who participate/d in the HOTA development and I am very grateful that some people are trying to balance out and improve HOMAM 3 gameplay.

After playing the HOTA for some time, I came up with some ideas of improvement that can or can or not make sense so I am posting them here so the community can give me some feedback. Note that those improvement are more of a radical style so it would make sense to actually create fork of HOTA. Anyway here they are, each of them with some arguments pro:
-----------------------------------------------------------

1. the hero with more spell power gets to cast first
- logical - why does Tower heroes (the most magic oriented town) get cast almost always as second by default(they are limited by their troops speed)
- takes away the advantage of conflux phoenixes and fixes all kinds of imbalances



2. retreat only possible after surviving 2 rounds & the hero could be hired after 2 days
- logical (how can a hero without Town Portal teleport from the other side of the map? How can he also preserve his movement points?)
- gets to cancel this insane hacky practice with retrieving
- if DD and other thing are banned, why does not this get banned as well?

I might be missing a point here ^ so please if someone can explain me why the developers wanted this feature of retrieve how it is I would appreciate it.

3a. towns balancing

stronghold
- gets the mage guild lvl. 4
- since beholders movement suck - they could at least be able to "jump" the castle ditch(not the wall)

fortress
- hydras should be much better
- all the units shall have much more hp!

if this ^ is not possible I would just remove the town all together - playing defensively wont win you anything in HOTA/HOMAM3

inferno
- gets some decent shooter


4. AI
- all AI shall be just of type explorer since this is the only type that can win you the game
- spells employed better by AI

3b. towns balancing

In general, all the creatures shall have 3rd of upgrade - so you are able to create more play with any town. so eventually al towns get ballanced. Example: Hydra could have more HP & Defense or more Movement & Speed


without the 3rd upgade - it could also be, that second level upgrade you choose from 2 variants.
