First of all, there is no much point in reaching higher levels - unless the hero has +% specialty bonus, which are overpowered anyway. The way learning worked in H5 would make some sense.

Also, creature specialties could be balanced as in H5 - this way they indeed had some impact on gameplay. In H3 they are pathetic and work only for rush heroes - Galthran and Shakti, level scaling is unnoticeable.

Not for rush heroes only. Tyris or Marius are very nice heroes as well, Erdamon might not be bad also. Alkin too, etc.

I found one bug in English history list (1.3.4):

"[-] Cost of constructing Upg. Shack (Cove) went down from 1200 до 1000 gp"

should be:

First of all, HotA crew, thank you very much for this great addon!

I installed 1.3.7 full eng on wine(1.7.37 in play on linux + directplay and gdiplus dll's) and open HD game, but when I go to Learning Stone, for exemple, the dialog of +1000 experience doesn't appear :/
In fact, all information dialogs like magic well, Warehouse of Wood, and others doesn't appear, but choose dialog appears(when gain level).

This is HD mod feature, to speed up MP games. I think can be changed in tweaks options, play with.

ExaGear has plans to extend on iOS as well (for now they are on Android only). HotA works on that emulator fine for now.

I figured this out, in hd mod, some information appear bellow the right button(end turn, etc...).

But in wine I have other problem, I cant launch game by HD launcher, only by hd shortcut. Any suggestion to correct this? (The same occours with ERA II :/)

I've just restarted the HotA campaigns after having been busy with a lot of other games since my last attempt (which ended rather abruptly after a version update included a savegame change, blocking me from loading my existing save games ... ), but one thing I've noticed is that a lot of the English texts are written somewhat peculiar with regards to the position of the proverb, when someone is saying something.

For example, I looked at the starting text of map 3 of Jeremy Albatross' campaign:

'You did well, Jeremy Gull.' Alkin praised me.
'Albatross. It's Albatross.' corrected I, trying to show a slight indignation. 'Anyway, what's the course of actions?'
'There is a settlement of my tribe to the East. Wasn't catching fleas all this time you know, the fortifications are up. Yours are not as good, but you haven't served in the Tatalian army.' answered Alkin melancholically.
'That's wonderful. I have firearms for rotten pikes and bows, however.' boasted I, and demonstratively took the pistol out of the pocket.


I've bold-faced the parts where the proverb is preceding the one saying it, while in proper writing, the proverb should follow it. Strangely enough, sometimes it's written correctly. Like in the very first sentence, which I have underlined. It reads a lot better when written in this way (alongside a few other minor corrections):

Some things I miss in mapeditor is some more snow design (snowy roofs and other simple stuff)...

"University" and "Mansion" lacks a snow design. University is quite large, some snow on the roof would look more realistic, same for the mansion. I'm also willing to provide my assistance to add some snow to it if apreciated.

I also figured this out, just instaling directx and .net framework in wine, then create HD exe to selected game(Heroes Complete, WoG or HoA).

They have been adding snow versions of objects consistently, so I'd say that evidently more snow versions of objects must be planned in later patches.

I'm waiting on water versions for more of the stuff. Surprises me there that they put in the Tavern and Prison, since these two require things like adding boats and that which I'm sure is a lot more work than literally any other possible map object would require.

you know, if you guys in the HotA team are gonna keep improving your own graphics, then i'm not going to bother attempting to, anymore.

but seriously, i work on the vampire mansion so that it doesn't look abandoned anymore, and use that to start work on a devil's snowhouse; and somebody in your crew decides to upgrade the old mansion. now i have to start over.

edit: i forgot to ask, are you guys going to transfer the new HoMM3 HD graphics over? i figured i'd ask, since two people doing the same thing would be a waste of time.

HOTA crew doesn't want to end up in jail
I hope someone still will replace classic DEFs by downscaled HD graphics.

nobody ends up in jail as long as somebody paid for the game, and the graphics converted and used, aren't used to make money.

So, let's say it's possible to implement the HD Edition's graphical assets in a way that makes technical sense at least, and without Ubisoft freaking out over it by rights or no rights, why would the crew ever want to do this, I ask? I'd think the crew much rather want to do their own thing which strikes me as being much more reasonable. Also, ain't we talking about two sets of assets which isn't even aesthetically compatible? Namely the current HotA assets plus the missing AB/SoD assets versus the HD Edition assets. So, the crew should then bridge these assets by the using the same process as used by the artists that Ubisoft has hired? If so, I think this would an awful idea because this process is evidently not very true to the look of the original assets, besides showing some signs of being rushed. The known HotA term 'classicality' extend to the aesthetics, too, no?

I get that there can be some scaling advantages by the using the HD Edition assets at some high resolutions in relation to e.g. the town screen and battlefield, but HotA doesn't do scaling and resolution changes. So that just leaves downscaling and HD mod, correct? There's not really any reasonable point in downscaling. What is lost and what is gained by during this, I ask you. Maybe the HD mod could in theory be made to use the HD Edition assets in a more advanced manner, but, meh, the HD mod already has a lot of flexibility to help get a really good picture.

If the crew wants super scalable graphical assets then I'm sure they'd rather do the job themselves in conjunction with HD mod and in a way that they find agreeable. Sure, it'd be nice enough, don't get me wrong, but I'm not really having an issue with how the current state is. And the work it probably takes to make this happen is hard to think about.

For VCMI and WoG it might be a completely other story, though.
