You dont build Capitol on first week and different towns have different advantages according to map size and circumstances.  That was the point.

Only an ignorant player will construct his strategy around ONE level 4 spell, whose probability to appear in guilds is 10% per town, and which forces you to choose a useless skill, and then can be countered by several artifacts, one being a treasure so you find it at each corner, or by resistance, and which must be cast with a microscopical precision in order to achieve wanted effect.

Like I said I don't know how it is tournamentwise with spells. Are all spells allowed cause if they are I am glad I am not a tournamentplayer, cause it sounds really boring.
What makes a great game is also diversity, why should I always be forced to use the same strategy just because it's "best"?
I already said I don't play online I'm not a tournamentplayer and I have no intention of being one. So I chose Fire and Water Magic sometimes, for DIVERSITY. Game is not just about making herochains or whatever they are called, where you buy 8 heroes and deliver creatures and artifacts on and on. That might be how the pros play it, but it sounds really boring to me. I don't want the same strategy in every single game. But that's probably just me.
In my scenario I have disabled Town Portal, Fly, Dimension Door, Water Walk, Resurrection and Animate Dead, so that also makes Fire Magic a bit more attractive. Also why does Fire Magic not have any adventure spells? Air even has both Fly and Dimension Door and expert Town Portal is extremely owerpowered, should be a sixth level spell.

I also prefer to play games where the strategy differs, where all spells are enabled, where hit and run or red day one rush are allowed, because I believe they are part of the game and I also saw people countering them, so is not dead end. But I won't make the mistake to laugh day one, when opponent gets stronghold then message him "noob you'l lose because you don't have level 4 spells". I saw stronghold in action in 1 vs 1 games and is pretty scary. Same for fortress. + you will find a lot of wiverns on map so basically wiverns, will be your first or second power stack (after angels from conservatories.).

5 level 7 units are immune to Berserk, just not behemoth, hydra, angel and devil...

Well if nobody agrees with me on anything around here, I guess I am done posting for while. I signed up here because I really like Heroes 3 and came in here with a positive attitude, but apparently everything I say is wrong?! People don't even try to argue against my points, I guess that means I am right after all...

Maybe 5/7 are immune to mindspells BUT these 2 you can get quite early in game, in that case and if your enemy isn't that far away he's just f***ed in most case if you rush fast. It's matter of micromanagement and logistics. Anyways: Blind same as berzerk are fire skills, so in most case it's obvious to use some protection skills on key-units or even mass spells to make all units immune. Maybe you should watch a tournament in Youtube, you'll see the playstyle is quite... "different" compared to singleplayer to say the least. But if you watch these videos closely you'll see on what the most ppl here state the balance and the pro/cons of factions/towns/units. Same happened to me some time ago, 'coz I never played with diplomacy... and put it on the same level with eagle-eye, scholar and scouting.

€dit: snowed = f***ed....

That is if you don't want upgraded Wyverns and Angels of course, never understood why those creaturebanks don't offer upgraded units. When I am some weeks into a scenario I don't walk around with non-upgraded creatures, why should I?, they are worse than their upgraded kin and again it would be boring for me with always walking around with standard angels and wyverns.

But maybe it is just because the games we play are very different to each others. I mostly play singleplayer or with friends, for fun.
You sound really competitive and talk about online games all the time, which I don't know or care much about.

For comprehensible balance reasons, both players agree to never upgrade wiverns and angels from map dwellings. This is to prevent giving a too huge advantage to that particular faction, ex you play castle, get 10 archangels in town + 20 angels from map, if upgrade now have 30 archangels. The other who plays let's say rampart will have 10 dragons and 20 angels which is not same strength. Same for wiverns.

Okay I understand that and it makes sense, but i honestly don't care as it does'nt interest me. Also there should be banks for all towns, preferably of the same level creatures, that seems more balanced to me (and less boring)

In a direct form? Okaaay, but won't they read it anyway? Also was'nt there a special thread for suggestions to the HotA crew? Maybe it's better posting requests there?

The crew already has a full development roadmap to occupy them; they don't really depend much on our suggestions. Besides, 98% of our suggestions are just - in fairness - useless to the project. But this only makes sense when you compare the average player's wisdom and experience of HMM3 on HC to the crew's and other professional players'. It's quite funny when players that have basically zero competitive experience makes balance suggestions while sounding like they have it all figured out. This is definitely a common syndrome to observe among new/casual HMM3 players. Again, this makes sense because HMM3 is a complex game with a lot depth to it. But balance is probably the least important factor for new/casual players in reality.

Much feedback is also just 'old news' that has been suggested countless times before and dismissed. But on the rare occasion that a relevant suggestion is made then it might be implemented, too. I'm sure the crew appreciates it when this happens. But mostly this place is probably like a chaotic kindergarten to the crew where the kids are full of good (they think) ideas. But it mostly comes from passion to the game as people understand it from their current perspectives, at least. So it can be hard to blame them for it. Although, I'm sure it can be especially tiring to the crew - so you cannot really blame them for not engaging in every discussion.

Anyhow, I'm certainly not above having posted ridicules and noobish stuff in the past, but maybe by during so you participate in a normal learning process. Although, maybe the truly wise man knows his current perspectives will likely change and so is much more careful about forming public opinions.

That makes sense and I know people got a lot of different opinions about balancechanges and we should probably also be carefull about changing too much to stay true the original idea.
I don't have high hopes of the team taking notice of my suggestions. That is why if I wan't something done I might try doing it myself, then nobody has to care about my stupid ideas.

You don't need to worry about such. Just install HotA on top of a clean SoD 3.2 or Complete 4.0. Or find the HotA standalone installer (without SoD included) which isn't available on this particular forum. You can PM me if you want it.

HD+ fixes gameplay changing bugs and adds have other features (such as the chess timer).

Well, I don't think it's stupid to have your own ideas/suggestions, but when you post it publicly then they will of course be discussed and dissected. It's only stupid to actually demand that HotA change to fit to your own vision of what it should be (I don't speak of you. You spoke mostly of some balance stuff, I think).

Hmm still not totally sure what to download though. HotA with bugfixes? And then probably just the HD patch (Is HD+ just the added chesstimer or is it changed in other ways? Is it possible just to download the bugfixes without HotA?

I never expected HotA crew to implement anything, I would off course be happy if they read my suggestions and considered it, but I don't expect anything. Besides as you said, they probably got a lot to do already...

If you just want to play pure SoD with additional bug fixes than just install HD mod on top of either a clean SoD 3.2 or Complete 4.0 installation, simply point the installer to the main directory (same with HotA). It's up to you if you want to use HD+. HD+ also replaces sulfer with gems in Naga banks which was a gameplay bug, and therefore it goes under 'HD+'. HotA is a 'take all or nothing' buffet, so you wont get any exclusive bug fixes from HotA with only HD mod on. You should probably to take any additional HD mod related stuff to this thread below.

Thread: HD mod. Play in high resolutions.
