Both, yes. It could be a bug, I guess, but maybe they just haven't gotten around to adding it in yet. It's a small thing to me, though. It'll be fixed eventually.

The effects of some spells aren't rendered

BUG HotA 1.3.1 (on the GOG.com version with their patch)

Not only the effect of the Frost Ring spell doesn't show up during battle. It is also the case with Meteor Shower and Chain Lightning (the chains don't jump between creatures). I'm not sure, but Earthquake and Lightning Bolt also don't seem to be rendering fine. Are you experiencing these bugs too? Maybe we should test more spells?

No sound is played when Firebirds are attacking with their fiery breath.

The sound of dying Goblins seems to be delayed (I think it is a bug of the original game. Nonetheless, it could be fixed).

In my case all mentioned spell animations work correctly. But no attack sound for Firebirds is played.

Its delayed, listen carefully. Like in original Heroes 3.

I'd like to see an option to disable the initial battle music when you attack -but!- only against for natural creatures! I like the music played when attacking another player, however, it can be tedious against neutrals.

Alternatively, a shorter initial battle music could be played against naturals that would be less taxing on the senses. I don't know if this is even possible, though.

Just some thoughts on it, really...

Actually, most of the time I disable the in-game music so I can play my collection of mixed Heroes 2+3+4 music instead.

You can cancel it by pressing "esc" when you enter a combat.

I remember that you wrote something like that earlier, Storm-Giant, but I tired it then and it didn't work, so I didn't think more of it then.

However, it still doesn't work. I press esc to cancel, but it doesn't. /sadface

You don't get this when you start a combat? (look at purple arrow)



It saved me a lot of time, it's truly useful.

I don't get that message when it's not working. I think it's a bug because I got it working once just before and now it isn't working again. I'll look into it more.

Indeed it looks to be a bug or some kind of issue with your version.

What setup do you have? did you install HotA over clean Heroes 3 Complete version? Over SoD? Do you use HD mod or not?

(I have clean Heroes 3 Complete and no HD Mod for instance)

Clean install (not gog) HotA 1.3.1, HD mod 3.673

With HD mod on, it's hard to get working at all. I experienced it working one time, though. At least it stopped the music, but I don't know if it displayed the message in the combat log.

Without HD mod on, it always seems to work. It'd say it looks like a HD mod bug for sure.

Banning new heroes is not possible yet, though the user-interface for map editor is complete. The game cannot understand those restrictions yet and it seems like a pretty tough limitation. We can't say for sure when our programmers will beat it. As for now - banning heroes for certain players ( in hero's properties) should work fine

As for changes in spells and skills I can say that some major rebalance for obvious outsiders is planned for nearest future. No comments about particular suggestions as we still need to have a big discussion inside the team about how it all will be done

Stables for castle will stay as it is one of the key features, that creates the gameplay for that town. It not an imbalance of any kind

As for artifacts - no big changes are planned for the nearest future. The reason is so, that we don't know for sure how new artifacts and map objects will affect  the artifact balance. Some artifact classes became more acquirable, others got newcomers, that will change the chance for acquiring old artifacts of the same class.

Well, I don't get the point of this pre-battle music-disabling. Without HD mod you can skip it, with HD mod you don't need to wait anyway.
Additionally you can turn off the music in the options menu.
Pre-battle music counts as "effect".
