Just a quick thanks to all those involved in this 'expansion' - it's been great to get another few hundred hours into a game i've already put many thousands into over the years.
Now to a problem - on map 5 of "terror of the seas" (underground cavern and lots of water) i've been playing and easily dispatching all my enemies for 6 hours or whatever. The problem is, i now have Bidley through the water portal with the Boots of Levitation but as that corner of the map is being obscured by a necropolis town or something else, Bidley doesn't have a summon boat spell and i can't see any land to run over to, i'm effectively stuck right near what i think is the end of the level.
I've got one spyglass on one of my heroes (which MIGHT be handy, i don't know) but as there's no way to get from the upper level to the lower on this map (i've checked absolutely everywhere), and i can't get my character close enough on the closest other area of the subterranean map, this is a dead end too. I can't see any reason for me to find the Boots of Levitation unless i was supposed to go further (that Pandora's Box certainly isn't getting opened anytime soon...), so i'm hoping i've missed something and NOT that my map is bugged somehow. It's taken me far too long to re-do it tbh, and i want to see how this campaign ends!
Any thoughts?

Necromancy is well now as it is... (was quite OP in the past). The only thing I would change is the Necro-Amplifier in town from 5% back to 10% (5% isn't any buff to spend money, also it scales with the already lowered necromancy skill), rest works well and it wont be changed I guess. You can change it on your own when you're able to edit the files.

As for Water portals... use a ship, I think it's a bug if it's possible you went through a water-portal on foot.

I don't mean i used the Boots to get through (i used a boat and then got off at the first bit of land), but you need them after to run from land-mass to land-mass (as i can't summon a boat). The map is totally (and daily) obscured virtually that entire side of the underground map, so unless i can make it visible, i can't use the boots to get to the next bit of land because you can't run without a valid destination click.

Did I get this right, we can edit skills through editing files? how so? I would really like to improve on the more useless skills...
Does anyone know how to create new heroes, some like Thant, Alamar, Jeddite and logisticsspecialists are simply OP, I know they can be banned, but it would be good to have some take their place. (Or is it somehow possible to change their specialities?)

For the nth time, if you want to modify homm3, wog exists specifically for that reason. I don't understand why some people keep on bothering hota thread for this.

I don't play WoG, I only play HotA and Paradoxon wrote something about editing files, but I did'nt think this applied to HotA, so I became a little confused again...
And come on, I am not the only one unsatisfied with Eagle Eye, Mysticism, First Aid, Scholar, Learning etc. so might as well do something about it myself if it's possible.

It really is a friendly advice to redirect you towards wog, why are you so reticent about it? It would fit all your needs. On top of it, the hota team said more than once they do not appreciate modifications of their work, so these posts -be it yours or from others- are IMO plain inappropriate.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I don't intend to and I love HotA and if I play WoG there is no Cove, cannon, a lot less heroes, scenarios, map objects and more.
I just wan't to know if it is possible to change stuff yourself in HotA, if not, too bad, but I'm sticking with HotA not WoG.
HotA changed Necromancy and Scouting, so maybe there is hope for other changes, but you never know...

is this true for graphical modifications as well? even if they're free to use anything i put out? or did you only mean as far as their own mod goes?

Sure you can edit all files, they are quite the same... SoD, WoG, HotA you just need a program to extract the files, edit them and check them back in. Til next update of hota everything should be changed for you local version. Still: you need to know what you're looking for, where it is located and how to change it. It's just for you own version, modified stuff... Local stuff for your personal use should never be a problem for any games. (See the orc & helbardier discussion some pages back)

Same as above, I wouldn't consider any addition to HotA as a real "thread" or even "offending" as long as you mark your work, AS YOUR WORK ONLY and not theirs... (*cough* Husam) It's a mod/addition for a mod, nothing more...

I meant as far as their mod goes. But obviously, is only my own understanding and I can't speak on behalf of the team and am willing to get corrected if wrong.

I guess this applies to any massive project. Nobody likes when his content is ripped out and put in a place where it looks completely alien, for example. That content might have been specifically created for specific purposes and there was a specific place for it left, while the third-party modders may not have the same sense of beauty.

They are also often afraid that their project will be discredited because people don't like to mention that they took something and modified it for their own taste. H3SW already got some bad advertisement from some fork projects.
