Having trouble with MAC OS.  Downloaded GOG.com version of Heroes 3 Complete.  Installed via Wineskin.  Installed 1.3.1 via Wineskin into the original Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete folder.  Installed H3 HD Mod into the same folder.  Created a HD+ version of h3hota.  However, when I run H3Hota HD.exe, the resolution is glitchy and game is not playable due to terrible resolution issues.  I have a 1440x900 screen (MacBook Air).  Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?


Thanks!  Greatly appreciate your hard work HotA team.  My friends and I have been playing heroes since the late 90s, and we love the new stuff you've added!

Edit:  Now, the game opens, and I can hear music but the screen is black (until I hover something over the screen, like calculator or notepad, at which point, certain parts of the game become visible.)  When I click a button such as new game, the screen does not change.  Once I hover notepad over the game, it will change.  Obviously not playable this way.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  This is soooooo frustrating haha.

Hi all.

After patch 1.3.1 has been released i thought the crash error is gonne...but it seems that issue is not resolved and that crash it hapends only when last color player end his turn and my turn is about to begin.

Could this problem be fixed?

You really shouldn't post a log like that. Upload it and attach it as a link. Also, try to include more precise information if you can. Like, you say 'player' but is the last player in the turn an AI or?. Stuff like that. It could be helpful.

Also, the HotA crew never said that they had resolved all the crashes that have been reported so far.

BUG HotA 1.3.1 (on GOG.com version with their patch)

Yesterday I cast the Blind spell on Sea Witches and Unicorns, and their idle animation stopped playing (they stopped changing their pose).

Sometimes two instances of the same sound are played together. For example, the sound which tells that the new day has begun. This might be the bug of the original game though. Maybe the HoMM 3 sound system needs more tweaking?

BUG

It's a pity that there are no looped animations in the Select Campaign menu (when you move the cursor over the image). It's a really nice effect in the original HoMM 3.

And you have made so good campaign intros animations.

To me it sounds more like wine doesn't like HoTA or that you didn't configure it properly.
Get VMware Fusion and emulate a WinXP (10gbs or something), works very fine on OS X this way :-)

@ambientorange : Tower is hard to siege because of the destructive landmines around the walls !!! Move carefully.. Anyway, you should get balistics ! ;-)

I want to elaborate on this. When certain sound files are played, there's an awful lot of static/noise in the background. You can easily hear this at the end of an affected sound, like with the sound that's played on every new day. This sound is called 'NEWDAY' in heroes3.snd. The noise/static is unfortunately in the files, and it's therefore not a bug, however, most sound effects doesn't seem to be affected by this noise/static. This problem could be fixed by editing the affected sound files and removing the noise/static. At least, I think so.

Listen to a clip of NEWDAY (shortened)

Turn up the audio a bit for a clear example of the noise/static.

Also, I too *think* that I have experienced the two instances of the same sound played, however, just now I couldn't replicate the bug, though, I'm 95% that I also have noticed it. I'll keep my ears sharp.

I have another little suggestion:
Phoenix/Firebird growth booster is located on the other side of town screen, unlike every other growth booster building. Right now it is near waterfall, and water elemental dwelling... and to most people it actually reminds of water and liquid things, especially the lightblue vase on top of this building.

I've talked to Hobbit about it and he agreed with my point of view. Here's a little suggestion (made by Hobbit) how we think should Valut of Ashes look like.

I still haven't built that building (so I couldn't notice), but I agree it feels wrong to be near the water dwelling. That sounds more like sabotage!

I personally think it's beautiful as it already is. I like how the building interacts with the waterfall. It does add little a asymmetric variety which might not necessarily be a bad thing (it's not part of the Pyre/close to it).

Speaking of details in the Conflux town, anyone else noticed how the Alter of Air and the Alter of Thought buildings has a noticeable pause in their frames? Unlike other animated buildings like the Pyre which is seamless in its animation.

I also throught there is no visual or mind connection with phoenixes for this HOTA building.
Your variant is good, but it can be mistaken with 3rd grade of lev 7 building.

The point is IIRC every other horde building is located near their dwellings. Vault of Ashes not only reminds me of something related to water, but also right now isn't related to Pyre graphically at all.

I guess it's for the creature abilities description. Using the original font it would not fit into the boxes.

Speaking of creature decriptions, I'd propose to specify the Pegasi description to something like "enemy must pay 2 extra spell points per spell when Pegasi are present" (now it's just "Magic damper").

New Phoenix horde building is congenial to the waterfall imo.

Before there was also an issue with showing the whole creature range which is possible that the tiny front fixes. Like 100-250 would before be '-250' because of the max 6 characters.

I dont know about hota guys standpoints on modifying homm3.. but i wouldnt mind adittional town creatures dwellings to be placed more often in maps!

For example a tower would get golem factory almost near town, a dungeon/ or inferno would get nightmares dwelling near town.. same with every city.

It would be as cool as those wood/ore/other gems where you loot them once a week! And there is already golem factory and other neutral creature dwellings that almost NEVER get into play because they almost not existing.

Just played a cool map where i got golem factory in hota small map and i managed to get a decent army of diamond golem. The army felt powerful!

P.S. wouldnt mind to see venom spawns in necropolis. I loved those creaures in homm4 even though i played that game for short time...

Voncur from AC has some problems with map Maelstrom - he says AI is crashing everytime he plays. Crashlog (click "Pobierz plik" to download).

Moreover, it's inhuman! (tho there aren't many Humans in Conflux in the first place ). I mean, the ashes are washed away by the waterfall, and Water Elementals get mixed with this water and... bleh!

BTW, did HotA guys tweak some units? Just curious, cus I remember Earth/Magma Elementals being weak. Maybe they made them a bit stronger? (I didn't have the occasion to check).
