Ok, I finally installed 1.4.2. I hope is the lastest version.
Suddenly I saw I can add above 144 dwellings. To see how many are now available I've putted a random dwelling, copy it and start pasting it using control V. I filled the entire map... Did you completly removed the dwellings limit?  To what extend has this been tested? Can I really add hundreds of dwellings to a map without having it crash constantly?
Btw, does anyone knows what is the number of creatures that make AI armies so big the game starts freezing? Cause if one can increase the creature production endlessly then legions will be very easy to summon.

In HotA some restrictions were removed/improved:
- You can place 65534 objects on map (SoD limit is 32727)
- You can place as much dwellings as you want (SoD limit is 144)
- You can place as much mines as you want (SoD limit is 144)
- You can place as much seer huts as you want (SoD limit is 48)

Current dwelling, mine and seer hut limit is more than 65534, so it doesn't affect anything.

In case of dwellings I didn't found anything in game that works incorrectly with more than 144, it is just map editor restriction. In case of mines and seer huts there were some technical reasons for restriction, in HotA they were fixed.


In HotA (and in HD-mod too) at least one reason caused AI freeze because of big army was fixed. Though, am not sure that there is no another reason for this.

Thanks Sav for the quick and precise awser. Btw, did anyone made custom templates adapted for these new capacities? Cause I only got two Huge templates and they both create maps that are scarse in both towns and mines.
Well, since Phoenix mentionned it: Mysticism could be set to a percentage, it would be usefull that way.

Yes, I agree with that. Mysticism with 5%, 10%, 15% of actual max mana restored per day is very good.

It can be very OP in end game, but it can boost the underused Wizard class, who have ridiculously large amount of knowledge. A hero with 500 mana and expert mysticism, would regenerate 75 mana daily.

Is there any chance we might see some new smaller but significant additions to pre existing factions in the next update? I mean things like a new ability (like for the Horned Demon or Gnoll whom are part of what are still comparatively underpowered towns), town building (Conflux has the least special town buildings and the one added in HotA is to compensate for a nerf) or faction unique "mechanic" (something ala Necromancy for Necropolis or cove being able to upgrade pirates twice thought it doesn't have to be as large scale) here and there for older factions just to enhance their play styles and open up something new without alienating anyone. I think it's in line with something an expansion would add, and could go a long way to make the game even more fun.

you guys are killing me. i made a leprechaun dwelling last night in anticipation of your update; and added a substandard leprechaun already to my lineup.

this ain't gonna cut it, guys.

still... it would be only beneficial on large maps and on large maps you can get 3 treasure artifacts quite easy to get full amount of mana every day, same useless as before. On small maps a might hero just completely dominates the map very early and just crumble anything in his was since retailiation isn't simultanous but after attack.

Edit: So I tried replacing the HotA files with the original files and it did'nt work.
HotA why do you force me to look at that ugly pic of Vey?

To tell you the truth I never tried to swap portraits in HotA but you just have to find the .pcx or .bmps (can't recall it) related to that hero and trade them by the ones you want.
They have names like kn001s or something, they are two for each hero, kn is the class -KNight and the s/l or something like that identifies if big or small portrait.

I copied the original files (small and large portraits) and pasted them in HotA.lod. (The HotA portraits had the same names as the original portrais, so I guess it just replaced them)
To be honest it only took max 5 minutes, so you could easily test it if you would.
Original files are located in H3ab_bmp.lod and the files are called HPL105Bm.pcx and HPS105Bm.pcx and Hota portaits are in HotA.lod. I used MMArchive to open the lods...

You know what they say about assumptions ... for all we know, it doesn't replace them because a def already exists with that name. Easiest way to verify this, I guess, is to extract it again and see if it's the one from HotA, or the one you inserted.

Maurice I checked it and I can only find the original portraits in HotA.lod now, meaning it DID replace the files, still it shows the HotA portraits in game... But when I look at the portraits in HotA.dat it shows his original portraits, very weird.
You guys are welcome to test it if you don't believe me.

I'm not familiar with editing Heroes games, but if it has been replaced in the .lod file, but not in the .dat file ... is there something you still need to do to update the .dat file with the .lod file info?
