I have spotted a difference between sod map editor and hota map editor, I dont know if it is a bug or not. But when I disable the spell "town portal" in the hota map editor and I go into a town menu and say town portal MUST be in the mage guild, there is still never town portal. I think this is because the priority is still higher of the general disable but it was different in sod map editor. It doesnt matter if I disable a spell in general, if I want that the specific spell is in the mage guild, it is there. Thats better I think. Because now, when I enable tp, then I have to go to every town and shrine and disable it there. I only wnt tp in some specific towns and shrines. Is it a bug or just more difficult now?

If you uncheck Town Portal from spells settings it will not appear in any Town Mage Guild, Shrines and Tome of Earth.

There are 3 good options for HotA way of banning Town Portal

Preset Shrine with Town Portal, give it unlockable mission hero( learn through seer's hut/event/pandora box) and use scholar to transfer tp. or place spell scroll with Town Portal.

hm I dont understand why make it so complicated. It was perfect imo in sod that when you disable tp you can only get it when you enable the option for certain things. So, how do I do it now if I want that tp is only learned in some specific towns, shrines, quest rewards and the tome of earth magic should still contain it?

I'm pretty sure it was already like this in SoD, but the correct way to do it is to allow TP generally and then forbid it to appear in each of the towns where you don't want it.
Alternatively, you can give it by quest, event or Pandora Box.

In sod it wasnt like that I am sure, but anyway I will do it like this. I have to give all the lvl 4 shrines specific spells then, well.

The other thing is the same with dd and fly...so i have to enable these spells too, then disable in all towns i dont want these spells, but additionally i have to remove all the pyramids from my map, because you could learn these spells there randomly...

Give those to human only, on a quest or event. Since you played The Arrow, did you got why it is called that? It solves the problem. But in your case you need a garrison with some OP monsters before it.

It works the same way in SoD, it is easy to test. But probably changing it makes sense.

I am 100% sure that it works different - like I said - in sod map editor. If it is the same on your pc, then it is because everything is in the same folder maybe or you openend a hota map with sod I think, but I am sure that it was not like that in sod. Also my both favorite h3 maps cannot be played in hota version now. "Astral Venice" and "The Fall of Atlantis", because in this maps, summon boat, tp, dd, fly, ww is disabled in general, but in some towns you MUST learn it is enabled, also in tombs you should learn it. Thats how the mapmaker wanted it. Now these maps are screwed. Additionally you can learn summon boat random in lvl 1 shrines...but on these maps you should learn summon boat only when it is intented to be learned, like when you specifically say: This shrine here contains summon boat for example. Even if summon boat is disabled in general.

Imo this has to be changed to the old setting again. For map-makers like me, hota has some disadvantages unfortunately.

In my huge map now I have to go to every lvl 1 shrine and put a specific spell in it because I want that summon boat can only be learned in a few shrines...before I could just disable summon boat in general and put summon boat in the two shrines where it should be learned and the rest was set to random. That was better.

I've tested everything correctly. It works the same manner in pure SoD. (HotA does not influence SoD if it is installed in the same folder, but I even have them in different ones; map saved with HotA editor cannot be opened in SoD editor or game). And it seems you haven't tested it at all.

There are many reasons for SoD map to become unplayable in HotA, but it is certainly not the one you mentioned.

In HotA the spells disabled in map settings are removed from Tome of Earth/Fire/Air/Water. But it works only for HotA maps, if you run SoD map on HotA without changing it in HotA editor, the spells won't be removed.

The disabled spells are also cannot be obtained via Aurora Borealis.

I hope it is the right topic to share this.. So ive been playing homm3 for more than 3 years and assuming i can now beat 200% on 8xm8 template with every faction means im quite experienced to give some well-thought ideas about the game but i dunno who to contact. Well i contacted some people via email however the responses werent satisfactory. Id really be glad if someone could redirect me to developers or better, any developer would be willing to have a look at them.

you can post your ideas anywhere you find it to be appropriate. hopefully, your ideas are new, and haven't been brought up before(we see lots of ideas in this place, but only a handful of people willing to make them happen). just don't expect anyone to do the work for you(you can find help here though, for sure). if your ideas are good enough(meaning, beyond awesome), somebody will try and make them happen.

edit: you can try posting in the hota "ideas and suggestions" thread. this thread is for hota-related content, strictly. or, you can create your own thread, or find an isolated thread where someone is posting ideas, and post your ideas there.

Have you read the entire Library of Enlightenment and watch some YouTube pro player's matches? (Look for Maretti0 and Gomunguls Gomunguls, as examples) Have you seen Small Tricks versus AI, The Empire of the World II - Rush edition and Let's Play: ~Metataxer's Revenge~? Cause I also came here full of certainties about my gameplay, when I started to learn I asked a Moderator if he could delete some threads I opened. Was asking his opinion about one of my most recent ones right now, not wanting to take the responsibility of adding that information to the Library's content...

Uhm most of you got me wrong there.. what i tried to say was that i know ins and outs of the game and i know how to change some things to make the game fair for all sides in terms of balance. And as to players who keep playing this awesome game for 20 years im sure most of them dont even know how to change hero portrait or let alone have the basic knowledge of creating templates. Anyway thanks for the link, ill try my luck there and see if any HoTA member is willing to take me seriously.
