Trust a good antivirus indeed. A good one would let Hota install without problem - kaspersky here, time to change your crap

You can't know without the source code. But your antivirus is most probably proprietary too, i.e. you can't study the source code either. This means the antivirus isn't any more trustworthy than the HotA stuff.

Yeah, sure. The problem is: this is code made by "civilians", so hardly can have a trusted publisher and everything that isn't trusted gives positive in some antivirus.

Look, the issue is not complicated: of course you need an antivirus, without one while actively downloading things, you get infected in no time. But a good antivirus costs money, people who use bitdefender and other free crap then they think they are protected are naive. A good antivirus knows the difference between positive and false positive.

Sal, Kaspersky also has a free antivirus which is almost as good as the paid version (except few ads).
For example: Link to a full version of free antivirus from 2018 (compatible with Windows XP SP3/Vista/7/8/8.1/10). False alarms are practically absent in this free antivirus (0.001%).

It isn't true, you can't trust free software. Those pretends to explore files. You can search for fact on Internet. Just so garbage! What I know the best, when I own f-secure. You can try a free in month or instantly f-secure online scanner.

Seriously?

This mod is among the most popular out there. Your antivirus gives a false positive because it doesn't recognize the mod. This is pretty common. Whether you think Hota modders want to harm your PC or give you a new HOMM experience is up to you...

F-secure doesn't alarm about maps4heroes, but yes other place. A solution is downloading m4h, and wait for 1.5.5 in m4h, and then downloads again. Now I don't know about f-secure. Tomorrow I install f-secure.

@Galaad:

I didn't have any problems with HotA on Windows Defender yet. But if I would ever saw a virus alert, I would never choose the "trust" option (unless I could check the source code). In my opinion, the situation is simple. Either you write a code that doesn't trigger anti-viruses, or you show the source code to the community. I just don't gamble with security, but of course everyone makes their own decisions.

Yet you use the proprietary unaudited Windows OS which isn't released in source code. Anway, I sure would love HotA to be released under a FLOSS licence with source code available.

HOTA is reverse engeneered code inserted into 3do exe-file. Thats why some antiviruses report it as virus. In some countries reverse-engeneering is prohibited, by the way.

Russian World of Fantasy magazine has published an article dedicated to the 20th anniversary of HoM&M3 that mentions our project: https://www.mirf.ru/games/videogames/20-let-geroyam-mecha-i-magii-3-chem-zhivyot-kultovaya-igra-segodnya

There is mostly no new information given about the future of HotA in the article, so a translation won't be needed. Though there is a new exclusive screenshot that is worth mentioning, showing the Factory's castle (until now only the "village"/capitol sprite has been shown publically) as well as a couple of new portraits. The model is, most likely, not final. As usual, around 15 different concepts of the castle have been discarded before we came up with the one we finally considered to be looking adequately enough.

There are two major architectural styles found in the Factory — its Capitol represents art deco, while art nouveau is represented by the Factory's castle. The main idea behind the castle's appearance is to be "the face of an empire", a monument to its ambitions. We deliberately made the architecture more secular and railway station-/institute-like in its aesthetics, rather than militaristic. The feature that is specific to the Factory's castle is how "alive" it is. of sieges an animation of the artillery guns being deployed will be shown, similar to how a short jingle is played at the start of each battle in the original game. Said animation will involve jets of steam ejecting, while several gears start moving with a rumbling noise, revealing the artillery cannons. In short, the building is moderately peaceful in its appearance, even has certain luxurious decoration, which, in a way, traps the unsuspecting besiegers.

Even though I am super exited for the new faction it hota, one thing is bothering me a little. Factory is another ''human faction'', and the last faction we got is also human (cove-pirates).

My point is even though I love the aesthetics and feel of the new faction, it is getting kinda 2 much humanish for my taste if you understand, especially if you plan to add Cathedral faction.

Im sorry if I sound ungrateful but that is just my opinion, ill play it nontheless as it is by far the best heroes 3 mod ever created (I look at it more like an official expansion than a mod).

My guess is it will be 70% human lineup like Cove, and if you look at released pictures, you can see human units (and one halfling) also all the heroes are human, the town is inspired by wild west so...

Okay I know Cove has 3 human units so its not 70%, but it is still much, in original heroes you only had humans in Castle.

3 Humanoids units 1.Halfilngs 2.Pyromaniacs 3.Headhunters and i would like to see even one more humanoid unit. 3 units and rest of them will be mecha/wild creatures.
