That's a town screen of Stronghold created based on my guesses what are the buildings from Factory.

Looks much more empty than Factory so chill folks. For me what we have seen on trailer is marvelous

Also, tier 1 creatures look like an "updated" version of Halflings. Is there any chance that they are actually the replacement of Halflings ?

Then what's the point of keeping 2 very similar creatures in game?
Is Hota team doing Conflux all over again?

Exactly my thoughts. Note that even the Serpenterium is not there yet. However, I think all we're missing only the 5 creature buildings from the picture. Even the Grail building is present, as the town produces 9000 daily gold.

I think we have got Tavern, Marketplace, Resource silo and Blacksmith at the foreground of the picture. And is that thing on the right a Mage guild? I would say the Grail building is that thing next to the bridge, and the thing with the fence and vane is likely a Halfing dwelling. The saloon is a Gunslinger dwelling. It was confirmed earlier that the Gunslinger is a high level unit, and not a tear 2 like you would possibly expect.

They're not the upgraded version. Look closely when the hero takes the unoccupied town. You can see him buying the upgraded units instead of the regular halflings. They said they didn't really like the appearance of the original Halfling, and it seems they have already redone the graphics for the unit.

That was exactly what I meant lol. That's why I put updated in "" which means the graphics not the actual upgrade of the creatures.

Since the Factory came out, I have been very enthusiastic to see more from that faction. I really appreciated the fact that the team likened the Forge to a steampunk faction rather than sci-fi (thus it does have some connection to the lore: Heroes II and IV).

However, I noticed two things in the trailer:

First, the riflemen are waay two large. I am well aware that Heroes III has something like a size-level scaling: higher level units are larger, but that is not a golden rule. Archers, Swordsmen and Zealots are all the same size. Efreets also give the impression of being slightly larger than the average human, and the same size as the Genie. The size of the horse body of the Centaur, the steed of the Cavaliers/Champions and Unicorns is also similar even though Centaurs are level 1 while the others level 6. Judging from the riflemen growth they should also be Lv.6, but they are waay to big for Heroes III standard. Being a human Level 6, riflemen should be of the same size as Enchanters in order to look correct.

Second, some of the graphic quality is decreasing, I think. Look at the Factory without fort: current and earlier. The earlier one looks better without any doubt.

They are. There is a confirmation in trailer: they cost 1200 (exactly like champions or black knights).

So I've been somewhat quiet regarding the Factory since it was announced. Mainly just observing and writing down notes till I had formed an opinion. Now I gotta jump in. Buckle up kiddos, this may be a somewhat long post.

The first thing I wanted to address was the whole Cove/Cannon technological advancement thing and why the other towns did not have access to cannons. As a lot of people seemed pissed off about that. First, one could say that as the tech (cannon) is what gives Cove/Regna an edge as pirates, they jealously guard it. Not allowing it to fall into enemy hands and or destroying it if it does. As a pirate empire for its enemies to suddenly be able to match them in naval battles would be a huge blow to the might of Regna. Another reason could be that the other factions simply don't have access to gunpowder. Making Cove/Regna the sole user/supplier of gunpowder. Now in the screenshots for Factory, you can see some cannons in the castle walls, I like to think that perhaps a Hero—maybe he was a pirate renegade or he didn't believe in piracy—of Factory managed to infiltrate Cove and steal a cannon/gunpowder and fled and established his own faction based on his own technology (steam, constructs, automatons). Which could explain why Factory units are using guns.

Second I wanted to say that I am glad that HotA decided to do a technology town, but not one that is sci fi like Forge is. Factory really looks good. As a town that is beginning to experiment with what they can do with steam technology, such as constructs and automatons, it does not look so completely out of place. Forge looks way to sci fi and yes, I am well aware of MM and Heroes lore. I just don't think Forge fits, but Factory does.

Now I want to gush about how much I LOVE FACTORY. Factory can be considered a completely Might aligned town. Pure technology. With very little magic in it at all. Its the complete opposite of Tower, which is a pure Magic town. Factory = Might, Tower = Magic. Which is awesome. Perhaps Factory has the lowest Mage Guild, perhaps only level 2, or level 1 available! One could argue that both Tower and Factory are both technologically advanced, they are just at different ends of the spectrum. One embraced magic, while the other embraced technology/might.

Also the Alchemist vs Artificer heroes. One creates things with magic i.e Golems, Gargoyles, Genies. And one creates with tech i.e Mechs, Constructs, Automatons. Again, bloody awesome. One brings stone to life and animates with magic and the other smelts and builds something out of metal and uses steam to animate it. I'm just really really hoping that Factory really embraces being a full Might town and has an incredibly weak magic arsenal. The weakest out of all the towns.

The wasteland terrain looks amazing. Not quite desert like as it looks more like dried, desiccated land. It could be a reference to how Factory might have stripped the surrounding environment for resources to build their machines. Just brilliant.

I only have a few cons. One is that the creature line up doesn't seem to be filled with mechanical units. It seems more human/halfling/winged-serpent. So I am really hoping to see mechanical units out number the biological units. Two is that is doesn't to be as steampunky as they say. It looks like a blend of middle eastern architecture and american mid west, with very few steampunk elements. To me steampunk is like what the buildings look like in the game Frostpunk.

Rant over.

My two cents:

- Awesome job HotA Team! Btw it looks like their presentation was the highlight of the convent, which in itself looks like quite an event. Nice to see Heroes being ever a big deal in Russia.
- Factory townscreen looks lit. My only remark is that it looks a bit too "sharp". I hope this is something they will tweak a bit, make the models more "rougher"... and I'm still not fully convinced it fits the overall game aesthetic: they should add some quirks here and there. Even Stronghold had Behemoth Crag with it's strange light. Also the rundown frontier houses vs those shiny edificies look a bit contradicting But maybe that is the point: Artificers came and created civilization in the boonies...
- Gunslingers definately seem to be tier 6 - look at their damage range when targeting Gremlins: two of them hit for 38-45 dmg, and the Hero has almost base stats. The units themselves have a cool animation, but they don't quite fit for a tier 6 if you ask me. Maybe they should make the guns more menacing or sth?
- Upgraded Halfling recieves a western-style hat. Interesting aesthetic there, a race you would normally associate with green meadows or hills. They seem funny as an outlaw style hooligans. Yeah, yeah I know. In Heroes 2 they also lived in a wasteland, but still... gonna have to get used to it
- If this is the town theme we hear in the background... then they did a splendid job, it feels very Heroes 3 like

Ofc, the faction itself is like 20% complete, so it is all subject to change.

Its like a weird clash of middle eastern architecture and american mid west buildings. Not so much "steampunk" Not as much steam, or gears, or metal, or arcing electricity.

I wouldn't be too concerned, remember that this is a footage from an early demo. I'm sure the graphichs will be on point on the release version. The town town screen for example looks really good already, and we didn't even see the screen as a whole.

If my quess is right, the building with in the foreground of the picture with three pipes is a blacksmith. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but in my eyes it is placed and looks somewhat similiar as couple of the buildings in the original Forge townscreen.

I agree that the townscreen isn't as steampunkish as I would have imagined. Sure we're lacking some buildings, but when it's presented like this, I'm not really seeing much of the techologial aspects I usually see being paired up with steampunk. Maybe we have understood the teams vision wrongly?

When it comes to the creature line up, we must remember that we've have only seen 4/7 creature consepts. I would imagine that 2 not yeat seen creatures are mechanical in a way or another. I think I wouldn't really have liked a "robot town", so for me this is okay.

Note that these creatures are the unupgraded version. Since they're humans, I think they really can't look much more devastating. Also, I think they will likely have glass cannon stats, so for me their appearance looks fitting this way.

Well the HotA has said that Factory is a desert town with "steampunkish elements" however as of right now, I am feeling like it is a more wholly desert faction then a blend of the two. If they abandoned the steampunk element and changed this to a desert faction I would be 100% okay with that. I think the HotA team is trying to please both the Forge crowd and the crowd that doesnt want Forge and they are losing themselves in it.

If they made Factory 100% steampunk and later devolved a desert town like Academy from Heroes 5 that would be okay as well. I still love Factory as it is right now. I am just being extremely critical now, and nitpicking now.

As for the creature line up we have seen 4 true. 3 are humanoid and one is a creature. That leaves 2 unknown creatures. Which for a town that has been advertised as a mechanical town seems rather disappointing. Only 2 units that are mechanical in nature? That number should be higher.

Remember that it is quite likely that Factory will have a war machine of it's own, so I would expect there to be a little bit more mechanic staff to fill some gaps you feel are missing.

To me the line up is somewhat understandable, I would say. Sure there should be some workers (Halflings and Incinerators) in the tech town. Also, if they're living their lives at wastelands, there are some fauna (wing serpents) there as well. Currently the Gungunslingers are somewhat out of place, but I don't really have anything against them, they just need to do a little bit more work that I understand why a mass of gunwielders are populating an inventor town.
