I'd like to play Kronverk. It was one of the originally planned cities anyway. I like the idea of it and I'd like to see another see with snow as it's native terrain.

I think one additional unit for every town (it wouldn't have to be 7th level) would be OK. Hota is very meticulous when it comes to adding new staff so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't feel out of place.
That said, I think that adding new town would still be a priority and we won't see stuff like that soon.
Please take into considaration that adding new stuff keeps Hota alive. I do agree however, that adding too much or too fast would be following in WoG footsteps.


While I did liked Kronverk, I would still prefer something else from them as the next race. Maybe Sanctuary-inspired from Heroes VI. They were cool faction.

I think the Cathedral could be really cool if pulled off correctly. It runs the risk of just being "evil Castle" but it could be so much more than that. I imagine it as a much more gothic and "grimdark" type of faction to the point where it almost feels like a living Necropolis. Maybe base it on actual biblical descriptions of divine beings. For those unaware, angels and such as actually described in Abrahamic religions aren't described anything like how we portray them today. They're eldritch horrors that look like they were pulled out of an H.P. Lovecraft story.

You've got flaming wheels covered in eyes. Angels with the heads of a bull/goat, lion, and eagle. Angels with 6 wings and covered in eyes.

Well, I've played a few games from Shin Megami Tensei franchise, so I can imagine. In gnosticism for example, God, or should I say imperfect aspect of God responsible for creation (Yaldabaoth) was even treated as an antagonist of sorts because he created an imperfect world instead of a perfect one.

What do you think about idea that Cathedral would not be another city, but a possible development for Castle? In the early stage, you'd have to build one of the 2 main buildings: f. ex. town hall or inquisition post. Building town hall would make everything the same - normal 100% castle. Building inquisition post would change higher lv creatures into something else, like Inquisitors instead of Zealots or Angels of Death instead of Angels? Heroes would stay the same.
It's kind of a less grandieur idea than a new town, but at least it could be implemented much faster. I dread about waiting another few years for a new town.

If there was any attention to it... tower could easiely have a steel golem by now... I guess classic towns stay just classic.

As the last page is kinda all about upgrade of old towns, I really wonder if there are any plans at all.

If it was for me, every town should get some new stuff, not just balance tweeks but some real content.

I hope HotA staff will answer on this one too...

Everyone here is talking about some balance, like all of us are some kind of pro players that are making money out of this. I think, that like 98% of us are playing singe player games. And there, why does it matter if some things are stronger than the others? They won't be gamebreaking anyways. More options are always better.

And remember, if everything is OP than nothing is OP.

i'm fairly certain you're wrong about that. there's thousands of multi-player players and the number is growing all the time. single player is just boring once you're used to play against other players.

and in pvp, balance is vitally important. because of hota, no longer do you have to make elaborate rules on what's forbidden in the game because it's overpowered. nowadays you just start the game and play.

adding unbalanced stuff to the game just because it's cool is not the hota way. you can use wog for that.

Yeah, a lot of people play Multi. I myself play almost exclusively online matches.

I do agree though that's balancing on the big scale is probably hard to manage and I don't expect the unreasonable. Glad the Hota introduced licitation system, because differences can just be erased through paying more for a "better" town.
Also, I don't think the situation is that bad. Most of RNG screw-ups come from getting bad secondary skills/not getting Earth Magic.

I wish that they would change some minor things like values. I'm pretty sure the value for Cyclops and Manticores is too high. It's also strange that Griffin Conservatorium has a low value and it can even be ungarded.

While Adilmaru is likely wrong about the dominance of singleplayer, you are wrong about this. Not everyone has that reaction, some of us still do prefer single-player, and we're no less a part of the Heroes III community for that.

You are according to the HotA design principles. This is a mod catered to tournament play.

Granted it is some stuff... but only "numbers" some little buffs and a lot of nerfs in general. I wouldn't call that "new content" or "unique feature" for that town.

True more content means more balancing. But if it comes to PvP anyway some towns already are weaker than others, not speaking of lvl 3 mage guild, just the pure numbers of units for example "hitpoints" that are generated every week.

We'll see about that when two lvl 7 units are available for their new town. The balance of Nix that stayed like this for two years, while other semi balanced features still exist... I'm not saying hota in general is inbalanced but some features/things are hard to balance anyway. It's the whole M&M System I would hardly call "balanced" at all. A good balance is made from lots of observations from videos of best rated players playing their game (but in general you kinda always see the same towns).

The secondary skill balance was healthy, more of this... most of it can be easiely calculated anyway in a simple excel sheet using pivot tables and some simple statistics with average numbers.

This is where tastes differ. I play multiplayer from time to time, but it's rarely as much fun to me as a good custom map in singleplayer. I'm getting tired of random maps rather quickly.
I'd also claim that, eventhough there are frequently 2000 or more players online in the online lobby, still more people play singleplayer. We just tend to be the less noisy bunch.

I'd find a game where every town is 100% balanced, where every tier 7 creature has almost the same stats, to be incredibly boring.

Same for me. However, lately I've been more playing MP with some guys (not always PvP), and it's pretty nice. Not saying you should do the same, but due to other stuff, I reserve my H3 playtime to play with them.

Noone said it has to be the same numbers. A simple example: In case of calculation less hitpoints with higher defense can be the same... except if you debuff the unit. Anyway the specialty of ever unit is unique, also if the unit is designed as tough, normal, weak in case of hitpoints and/or damage output. What I mention is that some towns are played much more often than others, no more no less, and thats the point where the numbers of less played towns should be checked imho...

Since the Halflings got taken from the Neutral, I'm thinking about a Desert-typed town with Nomads, Mummies, (maybe Gold/Diamond Golems) with some other new creatures too. It would be cool to see a concept different from Bastion just like you did with Factory from Forge.

No, with Factory being another desert/arid town it would be time for a new Snow/Tundra town like Kronverk in order to stop the climate change.
