Thx, man. I'm rethinking my position about editing it anyway... What I wanted was just change the disposition of certain neutrals from Compliant to 1, so you couldn't just go with one nymph and Visions and catch army on the way but to do that Logistics and Intelligence would need to be nerfed as well. In a Giant map, it's too much for too little. The other changes can be done without upgrading the version. It would be only to add some wells, near enemies one-way entrances to your territory.
I would also like to embellish it a bit, since I believe I got better a designing things, but that would be always minor.

It would be very easy to code, max 30mins. But in my opinion your suggestion it is not a good solution. Rather give them a level scaling to HP.
Ofc more useful WMs would be great.


Scaling with Health points probably wouldn't have much of an impact as in early game it would make them more difficult to destroy and in late game they would still go with 1 hit. Maybe the only other way I see it is to have their hit points increase with hero level.

What if all war machines, except Catapult, were given 10 defense and 250 or 500 hp?
That is very easy to implement.

I have been disabling diplomacy as well which was fixed in these patches for example.

Sorry for the "curse" speciality hero though.I tried to come up with a low level spell from my mind and I used it as a general example .

is the "Original template pack" the "default"?

also, if i disable eagle eye, does it prevent heroes which normally start with eagle eye from being used, or how does that work?

Talking about war machines: What kind of sorcery is the ammunition cart anyways? I mean, it can carry rocks to arm legions of cyclopes. Maybe those things should have growing HP by hero level or even army strength?

Well, the moment you start to think about realistic aspects of a fantasy wargame is the moment you "loose".

Keep in mind that what you see in the game is purely representational. So an ammo cart unit in your army can be visualized in your imagination as a whole contingent of supply carts. The same goes for First Aid tents. You can visualize it as a whole camp of tents that is placed behind the frontlines, not a single tent that "remotely" fixes your units XD

There was a nice sentance I've heard back in the day on the subject: "Just think about a throng of 1000 dragons that pass through a region as part of an army. How big pile of cr@p this would leave behind mind you?". And here we are, a happy army of 1000 dragons passing a region, represented as a dude/dudette on horse XD. You see, things like support line chains is something that is scarcely mentioned in fantasy aside from some realistic books that focus on the "behind-the-scenes" aspects of events. Supply is one of the key features of warfare and why many battles were lost throughout history (Napoleon anyone?). An army needs to be fed for one. I believe Glen Cook's Dark Company book series refer to this matter or Martin's a Game of Thrones to some extent.

And this is the approach I take with these kind of games. To put it simply don't try to dwell on the details, it's not worth it

Why be responsible for removing things I don't like from my own games when I can just have the HotA team delete all of the features from the game that I don't like so no one can use them?

Question: I'm doing some personal modifications of the Tarnum campaigns, but I really wanted to add in some HotA assets. Unfortunately, if I use the HotA map editor on one of the maps, it becomes incompatible with the Campaign Editor.

Is there a fix for this, or is it a "not yet" thing?

ITS OKAY for some imperfections with some sprites, its OKAY if the cutscenes is NOT perfect. We just want to play the bloody update.

Perfectionism is not the thing if bloody update is still unstable and has lost of bugs. Graphics are not only main issue devs must finish. You forgot how unplayanle was patch 1.6.0?

I belive with a small "indie" team the hardest part is to actually alpha-test the game, unless HotA team uses the help of some insider beta-testers. But I doubt it and the actual beta-testers are the community. Testing and bugfixing is probably the most time-consuming aspect of this work.

Though I feel you, the update seems to be so close you can almost smell the metal and oil!

But seriously, it's likely it will not be released before the end of the year. What kinda bugs me it's the fact that the we don't know anything about the tier 4 creature. No map image, or small portrait in some heros army. Pretty much guarantees that it's still on very early state of it's developement, so there's still a lot of work to be done.
