Thanks for the update Docent The tweaks are subtle but are a good improvement, especially the hat. Will be cool to see how the other adjustments come along. Good luck to the team ^^

Suggestion:Inferno should be able purchase cannons

Since the clearing neutrals is an issue with the inferno with low range power how about letting them purchase cannons instead of the usuall in the blacksmith. It would give them just a little edge.Since Keerigans are industrialist I don't see why they shouldn't in the fluff department.

So The Factory faction is Inspired  by Fallout + Western + Steampunk + Aztec + Middle Earth
Correct me if I'm wrong?

Not, it's not.

Fallout, not at all. I personally haven't played a single Fallout game and am completely unfamiliar with the setting.

Wastelands are not a homage to Fallout but a link to Heroes II where they were one of the default terrains. The Factory also — to an extent — intentionally parallels a number of traits of the Wizard faction that occupied Wastelands in that game, namely, the Halflings as the Tier 1 unit; certain design elements of the Golems and their dwelling (Foundry); some architectural clues.

There is no post-apocalyptic flavor to be found anywhere in the Factory. Conversely, it's all about exploring new lands and taming the frontier.

Western, yes. Steampunk, yes. Aztecs have only donated the Couatls and visual tone to certain Art Deco architectural details wherein the Native American motif felt apt.

Now where you have located any portion of Tolkien's Middle Earth in the Factory, is a complete mystery to me. Halflings have been a part of the M&M lore since forever, though initially borrowed from D&D. I concede that D&D creators could've gotten their clues from Tolkien's works; however, by then, halflings as a race had already become one of basic fantasy staples.

Yeah, probably excluding the Fallout part, his guess was roughly on spot.

Also, thanks for explaining the inspirations for the Factory in a more compressed post, since I'm sure there are people who still don't know its full list of inspirations.

I like the rework. The gun being reworked is cool because it's representative of the era when technology is limited and therefore quality items are very overworked/over-engineered (think early euro watches, pendulums, radios and other electronics; severely polished by skilled artisans over several months yet have barebone features)

They fit a lot with the pirates too. The cove did bridge homm3 fantasy with a more modern look and feel, and now the bridge extends further with the factory and so it blends in the game in its current state (it wouldn't have blended this well with Restoration or Erathia imo).

Also i totally agree with the cigarette being gone. i understand the arsonist somewhat must be there before it's one of the core concept from the early factory concept arts but it's just a little too high tech for me imo.

i mean the gnome is throwing a craft bomb from a sling (really primitive way of throwing bombs) yet at the same time you have compressed gas tanks lol? when did man-portable flamethrowers appeared in the first place anyways? first world war?

i don't mean to be negative at all. what i mean to say is that a steam-powered golem + muskets + slingbombs fits together very well (jules vernes steam punk, spot on) but it's going to be very hard to fit in a flamethrower imo. it'll look a little less off with the cig out but some ajustments to the design will most probably glue it all together i think.

But hey in a universe with magic pretty much everything is allowed let's not fool ourselves.

There could still be ways you could get the same sort of characters doing the same type of attack as the arsonist but more in the Jules Vernes theme like a flame juggler that blows flames out of its mouth (think of Firen in lf2 how he blows flames from some power in his hands, it's really cool). Just an idea if you want to have the same effect but less technologically advanced.

The Quetzalcoatl are too cool to be removed thought, although they are very foreign to the design i still think they fit in a lot. Otherwise if you drop the idea of two tier 7s, they could still make a wonderful neutral tier 7 unit (that isn't a dragon lol). But i would add that they should still be colorful under their armor even when upgraded (the creature doesn't change it's just the gear imo)

anyways, very great job from you guys and thank you for the update.

Does anyone know if there will be any new non-Factory heroes in the next update?

I would still like to see a pikeman, centaur, gremlin, medusa, pixie and air elemental specialist, not for default maps, but at least for map makers to enable.
A way to easily change hero specialties and specialty icons would also be very welcome.

Nice update. Would be cool if they had a wheellock rifle but that would probably take another 4 months to animate due to the complexity.

I think I've mentioned it somewhere in this thread before, but please rename Archery to something like Marksmanship when you roll out this update. Skilling up Archery to benefit flamethrower dudes and riflemen sounds a bit ridiculous.

Mechanics and Engineers (flamethrower girls) won't be affected by Archery, but only the Gunslingers and Bounty Hunters, as well as Halflings and Grenadiers will be.

And well, HotA is very reluctant to change the base game, and since Archery is just a name that is kinda literally the same as Marksmanship in meaning, they 99% won't change it.

I get the point, but gogs, liches, mages, cyclopes and others aren't really "archers" either. So the name did never really fit 100%.

Is the name archery still inadequate if you consider that skills are always skills of the heroes themselves? E.g. a hero that is skilled at leadership instills good morale in his troops. In the same way a good archer might inspire his ranged troops to greater precision, whatever type of ranged weapon they use.

ya this is spot on, it's a hero skill

the troops are affected by their leading hero's talents. the troops themselves are not more skillful under an hero or another they have the same skills

like bone dragons cannot be masters of earth magic and start throwing meteor showers lol

Remember H4 has melee and ranged attack, and then only heroes use a archery skill. H3 is a old engine, so we use a archery, it gives to troops. H4 offense skill gives all 50% melee and ranged attack. Those are the same principle. Remember idea always development for income, etc also experience by skill to create a new engine version, but the same idea or engine form. Keep a original like chair, etc different form and the same idea: attack and damage. Philosopher!

Btw guys, just gonna say, I approximated plenty of the units' current stats correctly using H3assist and videos about our sweaty cowboys posted by HotA. It's all on the wiki: https://heroes.thelazy.net//index.php/Ram_Ranch

Very nice, FirePaladin.
Has it been confirmed which units the mechanics can repair? I suppose automatons and dreadnoughts, but maybe also all golems and war machines?

No, it hasn't been confirmed what units they can repair. And no need to praise me like that for this, guys, it was pretty easy anyway and there also other reasons I'm saying this.

How can you say that with a straight face when they have been changing the entire balance of the game and removing vanilla features left and right for years?
