If you guys try to conctact with TB, I heavily suggest to make clear all the new features of the game - from the new additions like Cove town, artifacts and map locations, to other stuff like the cancel battle music wait, or showing the kill count on the attack, bad luck and so on.

Also the HotA Crew might try to contact Total Biscuit by email.

As Total Biscuit writes himself: "If you're a developer and would like your game featured on our WTF is? series, please contact pr[at]cynicalbrit.com"

About that fan promo video: we are glad about the initiative, it's really nice when fans help us with the promotion. However, just letting you know, that in some time we will (hopefully) release our official trailer

Will you try to contact with TotalBiscuit after you release the 1.3.3 version? Or shall we (the fans) do it instead?

Can't wait for the trailer

Hi

I've been looking arround everywhere but I can't find any information about the new (upcoming?) patch/update(s).

Not that I'm rushing anyone, but I'd like to know when and what we can look forward to.

Update 1.3.3 will be a bugfix I guess, but when can we expect a big change? Once again, I'm only interested. Not trying to be unthankful for the great work that has already been made!

December 2011/January 2012. 1.1 was released in June'12, 1.2 in January'13 and 1.3 in January'14 if I'm not mistaken.

For a non-profit mod, the rate is good. And having already two hotfix in the first month after 1.3 was released...

Excellent info, Blueskirt. 150,000-250,000 views and a big influx of new users over a short time is pretty much a guarantee if TB should make a video of HotA, it seems. The OpenRA community also makes some nice, promotional content.

How's 1.3.3 coming along, if I may be so daring to even ask? (I expect no answer).

Edit: Of course OpenRA is not a direct parallel to HotA (it's closer to VCMI), but it might still be close enough to be relevant in relation to gaining publicity for HotA.

That is very exciting news! HoTA crew should definitely focus on making an awesome trailer. The second thing that would be wise is to make sure that there are plenty of really good download mirrors. I am not sure if it is resolved, but some time ago there was a strict limit on fast downloads. Most people will not want to wait 10 hours to install this game or they try to download it, move on because of the waiting time and forget about it.
Lastly, is HoTA multiplayer possible? If so it would be nice if HoTA provides clear information about the possiblities (edit first post or something, or even add an ingame message). With an active multiplayer community, it will be possible to start a balance evaluation of HoTA (I think this was already planned to be arranged in the russian online community?).

I am very excited. I am really sure that a lot of people will like HoTA.

Multiplayer is easy enough to play by using VPNs, like Hamachi and others. It's not nearly as easy as having an internal or an official, external launcher based option of connecting to other users, though. I agree it'd be a good idea to have the option of multiplayer mentioned in the OP. Storm-Giant suggested a short QA in the OP which I thought was good idea.

Good point regarding the mirrors.

And if this hasn't been done already, it would also be a good idea to get rid of these mirrors that disguise bloatware under the guise of "Download" buttons, I recall reading several messages from users last month saying HOTA raised a flag in their antivirus software because they made the mistake of clicking on one of the three or four "Download" button that lead to a bloatware rather than the installer on these download pages.

Hi, i have a question for you.

I have a WoG map which i'd like to play with the Cove Town.

The first page of this thread says:
Quote:

We understand that many people would like to know how our add-on is connected to the WoG. So we can answer this question now. HotA IS NOT a new version or sequel or new branch of the WoG add-on. Our add-on is absolutely independent and is created by different people. The HotA team has no connections with the WoG team at all. As for the technical aspect – we do use the ERM script language from WoG in our add-on, and also the full compatibility with WoG is saved. Our players will be able to play WoG maps and campaigns and even to switch on the WoG options panel in HotA (if they want of course =))

Anyway, when i try to start a new game with hota, game will not show me my wog map. Is there anything wrong that i do?

Where did you get that from?

The first page says:
Quote:
So, HotA is to be installed on top of clean Heroes III: SoD or Complete edition. We do not guarantee stable work on any “optimized builds” or with mods that can change original game files (except for HD mod, which is 100% compatible). The modification surely will not work on AB, RoE or WoG. No ERM (or other script language) support is available.

Your quote is outdated. There is no WoG compatibility and ERM is not used.

Question for the crew:

Is it possible that you could make the effect for basic/advanced/expert adjustable for view earth/air in 'SPTRAITS.TXT'? I don't suppose so, since there must be a reason why these spells was never adjustable in this file.

Also, what's the crew's view on these spells in general for random maps?

I can't answer the first question yet. As for general view - very decent map control spells. A definite musthave in lategame and highly useful overall.

As for 1.3.3 - it's coming. Though a bit slow, but... Anyway
The next big version will be we don't know when. Someday.

And that TB guy I think we'll contact with 1.3.3 release.
