@Hourglass
You could attack with 7 level 1 units split into 7 stacks, then you will probably get your turn sooner or later, unless the enemy casts Death Ripple, Mass Haste, Mass Prayer or something.
HotA already did nerf the Conflux grail, there are a few spells you can't learn here now.
If you wanted to nerf the Tower grail, it could reveal the terrain on only surface or underground depending on where the town is located. (It honestly does'nt make sense it reveals both.)
Let's say you find the grail and own a Factory, but no Tower or Conflux, would'nt you build it at Factory then?...

Yes, that's one way of doing it, but in that scenario you're already losing multiple tier 7 creatures, even if you just surrender as soon as possible. And that means there is already quite a cost for the trick.

Yeah, I think it's the third best grail in the game, and it's a very fun grail to use. The ability is really strong, but the Tower and Conflux ones have that little "decisiveness" built in them, usually leading the games to end sooner, that why I wouldn't personally rate it higher.

No, not level 7 units, level 1 units.
Even the starting army of one hero, can be used to attack again and again dealing a ton of damage with free Chain Lightning.
I agree Conflux and Tower grails are better, then Factory third best, but if you don't own a Conflux or Tower you can't place the grail there.
I guess you could keep the grail and wait until you (perhaps) get a Conflux or Tower, but then you get no bonus until then.

Ah, sorry for misreading the original comment.
But that just wouldn't really work nor it would make sense in practice; if the hero isn't scary enough, then why use the strategy in the first place? And if the hero would actually posses a threat, then he has no issues dealing with low level creatures. Sure it could cost some mana, but even with expert Hastle alone, something like 100 mana would mean defeating 20 heroes, which would mean 50,000 gold on hiring costs alone.
Then again, there's the argument of the defending hero having somewhat "infinte resources", in terms of gold, perhaps in terms of hireable creatures, too. This is actually not even that far off, as he would indeed possess the Grail. But that's basically the power of the grail in general; it gives income and extra troop generation regardless of the faction. And when played with grail, this is the more typicial win condition. What I'm trying to say, is that when the player arrives near to your grail-build town, it's likely he is done regarless the player using the tactic we're speaking about. In the end, grail is supposed to give overwhelming advantage for the player.

The thing is it does'nt even have to be near your town with the grail, it applies to ALL remaining battles. (That is extremely strong imo.)
I guess the reason I brought it up is based on a real actual experience:
I played my map allied with a friend and then VS 2 x 2 AI.
I played Fortress, my friend played Factory. So because I played a cheap town and he played a very expensive town, I could send him a lot of gold and resources.
We managed to find the grail somewhere mid-game and decided to build it in my friends Factory, since we had never seen the Factory grail before.
A strong AI came close to one of my friends towns (not the grail town) and we knew he could'nt win that battle even if he had arrow towers and walls to hide behind.
BUT since he had a lot of resources he could just send wave after wave of level 1 heroes and do a lot of damage. After a while AI had almost no army left and he was very easy to defeat.
So yeah that is my real story.

IMO, if you get the Grail you should be allowed to do stupid things and have fun with it. It's lame that so many Grail effects don't feel like they do anything (three that only work on siege defense? Are you kidding me?). I personally love the Inferno and Cove ones even though they're not very good, just because the effects are super unique and flavourful. It's fantastic that that Factory's Grail was able to both be unique and really strong.

Still some kind of balance would be nice with the grails, even though they are rare.
And like you said Inferno grail is (almost) completely useless and the ones only for town defense are not much better.
What if:
Stronghold: +2 Attack to all friendly heroes.
Fortress: +1 Attack and +1 Defense to all friendly heroes.
Dungeon: +2 Power to all friendly heroes.
Inferno: Something better! Maybe -2 Luck to all enemy heroes.
Cove: Native terrain bonus, on all terrains for all friendly units.
Factory: As it is now, but max 3 times per day.
I guess Tower could also add +1 or +2 Knowledge to all friendly heroes, but then at least only reveal surface OR underground depending on town location.

I'd support a change to Factory's Grail. I nearly rage-quit a game when by the end of the first month I encountered a hero that had used the free Chain Lightning to gather nearly a Horde of Cyclops and Wyverns with several Angels (at least he'd had to fight a little for those). Didn't even bother to field Factory units... so many free troops.
That aside, I'm not a fan of Tower's Grail, since it feels like a free View Earth or View Air spell that I can't turn off (makes ending turns take too long), but along with the nearly endless spells for town defense I think it's fine.

Factory grail is obviously OP and not even the sole thing for late game. Not even the Orb of Inhibition nor their beloved Interference helps at all ("ironically" Resistance would have probably helped).
The basis for these extravagant powers is that hota players don't care about stuff that happens over the typical fast template game meta...

Two new towns, HotA has the Factory too. I like the unit designs, city itself less so, I preferred the game dev cancelled darkish/evilish Forge (but that's my personal preference for darker themes).
Nonetheless I do enjoy your mod to be less buggy than current WoG is.
And it's amazing how many HotA maps have been made/converted over the years, thanks to the other mappers

To anyone interested, you can replace Iron Golems with Steel Golems in the external Golem Factory at 27794C in the exe file. Replace 21 (creature ID for Iron Golems.) with AA. (creature ID for Steel Golems.)
Now Steel Golems finally have a home.
How do you do that i simply cant figure it out.

You need a hex editor.
There are many free hex editors out there, I personally use Hex Editor Neo, which is great.

I know we won't hear about some greater news in the near future from the team and I also know that Factory was kind of a compromise to bring a touch of Forge into HotA. But am I the only one who thinks that a Forge campaign with a story of maybe Kastore's revenge would fit perfectly as a sequel?
Is there a chance that anybody knows about such ideas in the team?

equipment set
hi,
i believe many players would appreciate having an equipment set button (like in WoW for example) so as not to have to change any item for each action. that would save a lot of time
during a turn i move with my "travel set" (Wayfarer's Boots + Angel Wings), then i have to switch to one of my "battle sets" each time i meet an ennemy pack, then at the end of each turn i must remind switching to my "end turn set" (Boots of Speed + Equestrian's Gloves + resources/gold items + spell points regeneration items)... + at the end each the week set the Statue of Legion items
congrats and thx a lot for all your amazing work

gsandro1 said: hello heroes community, after the update to 1.7, does anybody else has any problems connecting with another player, multiplayer maps, using hamachi ?
How come you want to use hamachi when the online lobby exists for free? you can simply just create a game with a password havent used hamachi in a while so don't know but usually had problems with it earlier so i just resorted to playing thru the online lobby
thank you so much for replying. I never use the online lobby, I believed it didnt work
Iuse the online lobby but sometimes there is too many people using it soo it keeps reconnecting and then I used to use programs like hamachi but none of them works anymore.
