You can interpret 'remake' as you please, but I would wager that very few H3 fans would support a 3D version of H3. Also, it would make very little sense for Ubisoft to invest that kind of money in a 3D remake, as this would be tantamount to creating an entirely new game. H5 is already essentially a 3D remake of H3, a game many fans like myself received in lukewarm fashion precisely because of the 3-dimensional design.

I think what most people visualize here is simply a game identical to H3 that is simply compatible with modern operating systems and runs at high native resolutions. Possibly some extra features, such as a simple scripting language that can effect much of what WoG accomplishes without the complications and limitations, could be included, plus maybe additional map locations and the like. Maybe things like Tablet support would be added. But essentially, the same game that we all know and love. H3 fans will accept nothing less.

An HD re-release would be great. I think it would be a show of good faith from the developers if they gave the franchises best game the HD treatment and made it compatible with modern machines like tablets. Just as long as they don't change anything major. Seems unlikely they would do this though.

I said it when H5 came out,  i said it when H6 came out.   3D ruins the game, because we lose the great overview from H3 (or H1/H2 btw), and we also lose the quickness of the game/turns, which also leads to borring multiplayer games.

Also i like the 2D graphics much more. 2D in 16 million colors with HD resolution can give something fantastic with the right artists

I see a lot of dreaming here, which is fine, however, Ubisoft is not a community-minded company. They're a coporate company for maximum profits. They're going make coporate decisions, and thus what we think as mistakes, like HMM6, is just buniness on their part. You really think that they're going to add stuff like scripting support in a remake of HMM3? You really think that they're going to make the game very moddable and open? These are community dreams that're unlikely to come true, imo. In reality, a company like Ubisoft doesn't want to make a game that can become a threat to their future profits. Besides, they'd want to monetize the game as much as they can. A game like HMM6 will never be a threat to a future heroes game, it'll sell and then be largely forgotten, and that's good buniness. 'Fastfood games' seems a fitting phaze for it.

If that were true, companies like Bethesda wouldn't make games like Skyrim moddable, because it would threaten "future games in the series".

Almost every Heroes player, or at least almost every Heroes player who favors the first three games and they are a majority, says the same thing. Why are they so deaf, isnt it just easier to make a 2D game...

Bethesda is more of a community-minded company, unlike Ubisoft. They made modding a strong selling point, true. But you really think that they're the norm? And yet, Skyrim is a single-player experience at heart. Bethesda basically only needs to layout the groundwork and a future Skyrim game will sell like hot cakes. 'Groundwork' as in an improved graphics engine, new tools, a new theme, etc. Besides, I'm talking about Ubisoft specifically, not every game company. But if companies wasn't thinking about securing future profits through monetizing (in some ways), then they might as well make their IPs open to the world to benefit from.

I prefer HoMM3 not in HD. I like the simple graphics. It feels right for the game. Even if it was "updated" it shouldn't look "HD." They've tried doing fancy graphics for this and it sucks.

I think he means Heroes 5 and 6. Like I said this post is too confusing some people think you are talking about redoing everything from the ground up, whilst others think its about just polishing up the existing game so its in HD. In either case, NO.  Lets just leave the true gem of the franchise untouched by those unworthy, sniff.

A 3D remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III is totally unlikely. Recreating the whole game with graphics befitting a potential seventh game in the series would cost a whole lot of money, much more than Ubi would be willing to invest in a remake considering all the limitations remaking a game involves. If I was Ubi and I had to choose between remaking the third game, with all the factions, all the units, all the campaigns that were included in the original, or simply working on Heroes VII and being free to adapt the game to the budget at my disposal, I'd choose the latter.

The more likely possibility is that Ubi could hire a smaller third party studio to simply HD port the game, the same 2D look and gameplay, except with higher quality textures, high screen resolution support, Steam multiplayer matchmaking, workshop, achievements... the type of stuff we've witnessed with the recent Steam ports of Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Age Of Empires II or Age of Mythology.

And if Ubi was really smart, they would try to convince and hire the HOTA Team to develop Horn exclusively for the HD version to give a reason for the average gamers to stop holding onto their CDs or copies they acquired on GOG, like it happened with the recent expansion to the HD version of Age Of Empires II.

That would however irreversibly divide the community, like it happened with the Age of Empires II community.
