King's Bounty: Dark Side
According to PC Gamer, King's Bounty is getting another stand-alone expansion called Dark Side. Allegedly, it focuses on the exploits of an Orc Warrior, a Demoness Paladin, and a Vampire Mage.
Taken from the 1C Company official page:
"Time has come to join the dark side. Take a trip to the other side of Teana, to the part of the world that has yet remained unseen to the royal bounty hunters.
For the first time in King’s Bounty history by choosing character players not only assign class, they also chose the race of the hero. Orcs are warriors, the Demoness is a paladin and Vampire is a mage.
Great Orcs lost the decisive battle of Tristrem. Ruthless Elves plunder orcs’ villages, desecrate shrines and butcher green babies. The famous Orc warrior Orc-Baghyr flees with a small group of elite warriors and seeks refuge.
Armies of Human knights invaded Atrixus. After the death of her father the young Demoness Neoleene is now in charge. Together with a small unit of devoted imps she fights her way through the ruthless warriors.
Castle of the ancient Morton clan is about to be besieged by the Vampire hunters. Young Daert leaves home to seek allies among other great races that are on the verge of extinction.
Fates of the three heroes are sealed. In the depths of the sacral Black Cave, where many centuries ago races of light imprisoned the Ancient Evil, they exchange vows and antique artifacts. They gather the remains of their armies and begin the great war for survival. Only together they can stand against the advancing forces of Humans and Elves!"
So far, I have really enjoyed the King's Bounty remake series and will pick this up.

I put it on the old Kings Bounty thread, but I guess a new thread fits more.
I repeat what I said on the other thread: This is the first King's Bounty not developed by Katauri Interactive.

To tell you the truth, the last one felt a bit tedious to me. I'll still check this one, but I probably won't run to get it as soon as it comes out.

I liked Warriors of the North. The new skills & rune magic spells were interesting (even if the rune spells were just old guardian attacks from the old game) and the Vikings were an interesting faction. I'll pick it up.

Very nice! King's Bounty is one of those relaxing games that have incredible good music and even better atmosphere. I've always enjoyed it quite a lot and had a ton of fun.
I will definitely try this one out.

Don't worry, it's not like there were hundreds of replies on the other thread.
Besides, this way more people'll be aware of its existence

Nice.
I have really enjoyed the new KB installments, but I sure hope that they come up with some new content and not just build a new story of off the old continents ( with a few new islands here and there - etc. )
WotN has been my go-to game for months now ( Impossible - Mage ) so I am looking forward to see something hopefully new and fresh

My problem with the series is the difficulty. There really isn't any good way to scale the game for more experienced players.
It doesn't really matter what difficulty I play, at a certain point I can kill everything and before that I can just sneak past everwhere. This always leads to me going killing empty islands for days at one point in the game. If they'd somehow improve that I'd much appreciate it.

If anyone is interested, the game is available on Steam in early access format for $24.99. The price seems a bit high but I do enjoy the series and want to support the developers. I am currently downloading it and will let everyone know how it is.

Updated impressions:
-There are new skills and a new rage companion that serves as a plot device. You can also employ, for a lack of a better term, slaves to give you static bonuses like the companions of old.
-You can take prisoners from winning battles and use them to create new troops, research new monsters, spells, etc.
-There are new monsters (such as female vampires, metamorphs, traitor units of dwarves, elves, and humans, demon priestesses, fire elementals, dragon riders, female ogres, etc.).
-New spells (Frost grasp, chaos breath, a delayed healing spell, and the like. I rarely use spells, so I cannot recall much more).
-Critical hits can also cause bleeding now, which can be really nasty.
-To nobody's surprise, the game recycles a lot of elements from the previous games. If I have encounter new music, I will be surprised.
-There seems to be less in the way of digging for objects this time around as well. Towards the later parts of the game, it feels like treasure and monsters are missing from the maps. Since it is an "early access" game, perhaps they will be added later?
-Excellent story. After suffering crippling losses to the forces of light, a Demoness, Orc, and Vampire team up to fight back against the light. Through subterfuge and brute force, you corrupt the lands, building up your forces to destroy the Light once and for all.
-New skills. Plenty of the old skills remain but I love the Demoness's (essentially a Paladin), ability to reinforce her army by 6% of her leadership after every battle. It is an incredibly powerful and useful skill that cost a lot of runes to acquire. The only downside is that it does not appear to reinforce dragons, which is a right shame.
-There are bugs but the developers are on top of things and releasing regular updates, which is nice.

Be forewarend, the end game is still a slog. I am growing very tired of fighting 10 unit strong armies that summon thousands of units to battles. Hell, I had to leave my game running because my lunch break was over, I had clients coming in, and there is no save function during battle. Not a happy camper.

Well it sure sounds nice. I was actually expecting some re-use of spells/troops.
What about continent ? Please tell me that they haven't used too much of the old islands with one giant one as a hub e.g. The Legend/ WoTN and the one in the Princess installement.
I silently agreed with Joonas when he mentioned the overflow of gold in a few posts up - Have they gotten "rid" of that , I am refering to the lack of digging comment or is it still the same ? I mean it would be fun to actually have to micro manage you gold so one just dosen't by a full pack of xx creatures without even looking at the cost at some point in the game.
I think I'll go with the undead this time around, never really had a full sized undead army to roam the land with in any of the previous games - And imagine my dissapointment when I completed the Van Tallin ( or whatever his name is ) the bountyhunter in WoTN and he gave me the missing undead set piece .... and no undead to speak of to recruit
On a side note, when and IF I decide to start with the undead ( wizard, I pressume ) I get an undead castle to start with, right ?

-There are a bunch of new islands now. Your companion lets you teleport places you have visited, which is really convenient for travel. To my recollection, there is not one giant hub.
-On Normal, gold is not really an issue. I have boosts to gold flow, so I am rarely concerned. There are some units that initially cost 100k (so worth it) and that can eat up a chunk, but with careful, strategic play, you can easily manage money. I am at a point where I very rarely sustain any losses in combat, so I have a good income.
-One vexxing aspect of the game is until you convert an island to side of Darkness, you are limited on what units you can recruit. The first couple of islands are undead and have plenty of guys to begin with, so you will have your pick. On other islands though, you have to clear everything out before you can consistently recruit dwarves, elves, and humans.
-All I will say is you start in an undead castle...

I finished the game last night and here are some final impressions.
-The ending made little sense and it felt like the author wrote himself/herself into a corner. It was disappointing considering the story was quite good up until that point.
-The last battle was pretty tedious. It was with a boss monster, so many of you know how dull they can be. Luckily, there is only one boss fight in the entire game.
-Some scenes make 0 sense. I'd elaborate but I do not want to ruin the surprise.
-Some skills do not work properly. I never could get my Demoness's ability to reinforce creatures to work on any dragons, despite getting their leadership requirements down to 1200 or so. On the plus side, I could reinforce Cyclopses and Demons, which was nice.
-For $25.00, I spent about 40+ hours on the game, which is a lot better than I can say for most AAA games these days.
-Ultimately if you are a fan of the series, you will want to pick the game up. It does not radically change the series and the reusing of elements is a cop-out, but the same great gameplay is there and it is fun. If you are new to the series, you'd be better off picking up Cross Worlds first.
