Impossible.

The reason being that Sareth is the only one who could undo Sheogh, since he is the Dark Messiah. The key element here is that only a half-demon, who is both bound to Sheogh and Ashan could preform this act.
And there is only one half-demon: Sareth.

Have him forcefully perform the ritual. Like mind control or something. Or use him like a catalyst, if the ritual doesn't require him to be conscious. Should be easy to figure out something.

Anyway I think it's a lot more consistent for him to refuse to open Sheogh even given he's a half demon. It's not like he puts away years of his life living as a human to do a demon's bidding, be it that it's his father.

I agree that with the escape of the demons from sheogh an all involving cataclysm is inevitable, it's just that I don't like it as a plot device
As something that plays in the background it could be very nice, at least you can use it to get rid of that annoying falcon/griffin empire. If you let both Haven and Sylvan flee their homeland, doesn't that make their stories a bit too similar? Maybe stage the Sylvan campaign at the demon invasion of Irrolan. Then you can let the elves try to get help from other nations, such as the dwarfs, or perhaps even the dark elves.

Yea but I was thinking that having humans isolated on another continent alone is not a good thing too. So I wanted to balance their presence with another faction.

Dunno, it's just a plot idea, no need to get too serious about it.

They don't have to flee that far. Just let them be an annoyance to the other factions while they try to find a place of their own. I can imagine necro and the orcs not being too fond of the humans.

Admittedly it's been quite a while since I played Dark Messiah, but I find this all sounding somewhat implausible.

And I hope I've made clear enough that it isn't so much Ashan I have a problem with as it is the limits and boundries it currently has.

During the Wars of Creation, when the Dragon Gods fought one against another, their blood fell over Ashan. It formed a network of Dragon Veins and Nexuses that, with the passing of time, crystallized into magical nodes.

These are physical proof that the Dragon Gods once walked the surface of Ashan and flew its skies. These powerful magical sites became sacred to the Shantiris, elected as places of pilgrimage and meditation, and sometimes founding places of temples or cities.

As centuries passed and the Shantiris disappeared, the Dragon blood crystals became more strategic than sacred, for their magical powers could be used to craft powerful weapons and artefacts.
As the crystals were consumed they became rarer and their value increased even further, until they became the most precious resource on Ashan, until the control of a Dragon Vein became synonymous with absolute wealth and power.

There are seven different types of Dragon blood crystals, one per Dragon God.

From M&M Facebook Page. Newer posts present the blood crystals pertaining to each dragon, check them out.

These might be the next resources of Heroes 7. Meaning that the story will take place around the shantiri era. We might wanna reconsider our dark messiah hypothesis.

Could be. But this info has been public since they published the compendium, so that's a lotta buildup.

Also, Shantiri might be interesting from a lore perspecitve, from gameplay maybe less so. The Shantiri Empire is a globe-spanning empire of all Elder Races, all together. All races lived intermingled in the same society. That would give us only 2 factions, the Shantiri and the Demons. As that was the only distinction of that time.

No, I think they are setting this all up, if they are setting up anything at all, to make 8 7 different rare resources and all of them are different kinds of BloodCrystals. But then again, I hope I'm wrong on that.

Only as far as the crystals go. The rest either isn't in the Compendium or the info is sparse.
I stand corrected, the info on the Demon Overlords is also the same as in the Compendium.
The Tower-stuff is new for those who don't play the Card games as far as I know though.

I know, but I had the intention to debate Dragon Blood Crystal future in my thread and now it collides with Stevie post. What a mess

Well, whatever, if the discussion keeps taking place here then I'll edit later my thread and take away the speculation. It's up to you guys

What's there to debate? It's either resources, in which case: [sarcasm]Way to think of something creative, Erwan![/sarcasm]
Or it has something to do with magic or artefacts like you suggested, Storm. In which case: So they are very special resources. [sarcasm]You realy had to think hard on that, didn't ya?[/sarcasm]
Or they are simply plot-McGuffins. In which case: Best thing to do with them, since this is the place they do least damage, as far as I can see.

Me playing Buzz Killington never stopped the hopefull yet.
Besides, the whole blood thing is exceptionally minor on the scale of things. And I hope you agree with me that this whole Dragon Bloodcrystals thing isn't very creative writing to begin with.

I can't but agree, there's nothing like the good old four resources ^^

Ubi is so damn rigid on their lore...

Exactly! The lore! They can't deliver a good game because of the lore. It proves to be a pain in the ass much more than I imagined.

I agree that the current lore is too rigid. I've been saying this for some time now.

But I disagree that the 4 old resources were so much better. They weren't. Crystals and gems are 1 redundant and 2 only good for decorative purposes. That is, if magic is not the reason they are used, in which case: Yeah, use your "Get out of jail free card" on one of the most easily fixable things, why dontcha.
Seriously, we can come up with 4 more usefull rescources to replace Crystals and Gems.
Sulphur and Mercury we can keep, those had practical use, even in Ye Olden Tymes. But Gems and Crystals are pointless.

Isn't dragon blood some sort of crystal? Also gems had "mystical qualities" in Medieval Alchemy, it was said that diamonds could banish evil spirits, opals brought misfortune, amethysts would keep demons at bay, amber had healing proprieties etc. What's the difference between that and dragon blood crystals? Only that gems have only their powers fictional, while the dragon blood is entirely fictional. Also let's not forget that diamonds are the toughest material on earth. Maybe gems and crystals were just trade tokens in older Heroes games and not held any magical proprieties. There was gold not "money" or "treasury", maybe some races preferred them instead of gold (let's not forget that many real world gems are far more expensive than gold)

Yes, Dragon Bloodcrystals are crystalised drops of blood of the Gods

Even if you take all that into account, all the fictional mumbo jumbo. And even taking into account that as trade tokens they serve the exact same functionality as gold. Take all that. Why have them both? What is the difference between gems and crystals? Cause most gems are crystals themselves.
