The task of making the coat into strips is easy enough, though it only ends up making enough coverings for two of the normal-sized members. Some of the remaining scraps could be made to partially cover the third, or fully cover Vorbrin, if someone was skilled and crafty enough to properly tie them. ((If you have a Use Rope skill, you need it now more than ever before! ... Okay, that was a lie, shush. ))

Nathanial would not notice anything moving around him, but he would stop something odd on the floor, where before there had only been the tracks of their benefactor and the slightly less present trail of blood left from Feather's boots (you did just walk through a congealing pool leaking out of a giant, after all), there appears to be a third trail that goes down and around the corner. The prints are obviously from heavy boots, seemingly from a simple, bland model. Work boots and nothing more. He does not see who, if anyone, left them.

Nathanial waved Vorbrin over. "Exquisitor, what do you make of these?" He indicated the tracks.

Vorbrin left the women to make their new clothes from the giant's vest and walked over to Nathaniel.

"This... is new, "he said kneeling down beside the tracks," I do no recall seeing those before. I wonder who left them and when."

The Exquisitor examined the tracks looking for answers to his question. Then he looked up sharply and looked around trying to get any hint of movement or sound that could indicate the whereabouts of someone else.

The tracks are definitely from the boots of some of these "void walkers," though since none of the bodies seem to be up, walking or trying to eat your brains, you would guess that the one that made these tracks is very much not undead. You can tell that the tracks came from the same tunnel you just walked through, and that (judging by the way the blood dried and when Nathanial noticed it) the footprints were made no more than a minute ago at most. Investigating where these tracks came from also allows the dwarf to notice that two more trails had been made in the giant's blood, though these ones seemed to be far more obscured, and they did not leave the pool, but rather, stopped suddenly at the edge.

He would hear whispering. This time, it was definitely the sound of voices, but as for what language they were speaking... it sounded ancient. Primordial, even.

"Hmmmm... could it be that... brother and sisters, I do believe we are not alone in this place. I would suggest staying away from the pool of blood and keeping your eyes out for any suddenly appearing tracks on the floor. And as for those who made them," that last part was a bit louder than the rest, "would you care to reveal yourselves and have a nice little chit-chat?"

Ciaran was stunned as she saw the mountain of corpses. Usually relegated to body guard duty and used to one-on-one fights she wasn't quite used to a grand scale of slaughter. She felt something itch, it was an urge to fight, it was an urge to cover her nose in disgust from the metallic tang that heavily perfumed the air.

"Disgusting" she audibly whispered. She must've been out of it for a bit, since the rest of her companions had been going through business as usual she only really noticed when the boss had been notified of an extra presence. She nodded, tightened her gauntlets and was ready for action.

There was a moment of silence a the voices disappeared. After a few more harsh whispers, a void walker appeared in the bend of the hallway and, looking between the dwarf and the rest of the party, gestured for you to follow before starting to head down the hallway, moving towards the other fire around the bend. The gender of this void walker, much like the others you had seen, was still relatively ambiguous, and judging by the sneer of contempt it had given, the void walker was not glad that you had spotted it.

As the void walker begins to move, Ciaran would notice that a few pebbles and rocks seemed to be falling from the ceiling just behind the outsider. She would also note that there was a crimson print from six distinct claw marks on a stalactite, just barely imprinted from the paw of some large creature, and that a small drip of blood was leading along behind the outsider as it moved down the hall. Ciaran and Feather would also notice that there seemed to be a light growl coming from the ceiling of the cavern just before the void walker began to move.

One final note, the two pairs of footprints that had been in the blood seem to have disappeared without a trace. No discernible prints leave a trail from where they had been resting, and if you think back on it, the whispering had stopped the moment the footprints disappeared.

"An Eaturecray asway on the eilingsay." Ciaran whispered, very proud of her knowledge of an ancient and forgotten tongue. But she decided not to gloat and wait for what the rest of the group was up too. She didn't trust it though and displayed that distrust with a great frown on her visage. Ciaran's frowns, unlike her smiles, are not stupid or smug.

"I understand." Nathanial remarked, although he didn't notice any sign of same. But not noticing trouble was not new for him, so trying not to be obvious, he looked around for any defensible nooks nearby.

As the void walker appeared, a couple of Feather's weapons were almost immediately in her hands; the vest strips she was holding dropped upon the giant's back. Though, with it making no hostile motion towards them, that is where they stayed. Then it motioned for them to follow, and went off. Feather put her weapons away and picked the strips back up.

"Alright. Going to need some help getting this stuff on. Plus, I would very much like my starknives back."

Nathanial would note that there were many, many stalagmites and stalactites, pretty much everywhere really, and that the ceiling was actually getting higher around the bend. As for places where people and things might be hiding... well, there are a lot of stalactites and stalagmites.

The scraps would take maybe five minutes to apply properly. Of the void walker or any potential pet it has, there is no sign while the party prepares.

On her guard she helped Feather with the scraps of fabric. "Not sure if this is a good idea. How will we be able to follow or back you up, Feather?" Ciaran said all frowny-faced and speculative.

Nathanial returned Feather's starknife and also moved to assist, though he made sure not to do anything that would prevent him from grabbing his sword and steered the others to keep their backs to a stalagmite or wall as much as possible.

"I wasn't thinking I was going alone," Feather said while she helped the others help her, moving whichever way to do her best to make it easier on them. "I thought we were all going along. I know I'm not the most...durable of us here. This thing will help me out. There's more for, well not all of you, but...well," Feather moved in a way that disrupted Ciaran a little. "Sorry. But maybe someone hardier, and faster can go along fine? Maybe stick as close to the walls as possible? Or find some natural cover? I might be able to help with that."

She looked at the scraps the others were holding. "I am sorry, I didn't realise we had enough for more people. I spaced out for a few minutes. Perhaps, we can go two at a time and the other one brings back the remaining equipment? Either way, I'm sorry. I volunteer to go. I am both strong and fast, after all." She said. Her face went more even. She was proud of her strength and her speed and in light of that she feared the ceiling creatures and the monsters less.

This means that some people may be left alone for a few minutes, but i'm sure that won't be an issue. Thinking of the party being split up put another frowning and speculative expressions on her face. She really hated making decisions that could endanger others.

"Sounds great. So we need to get you ready next," Feather responded to Ciaran. She had been with Ciaran long enough to understand her current facial expressions. "And I am not too fond of us splitting up either, but it seems to be needed right now. Those blasted giant fireballs could be a hindrance otherwise. We'll start off decent enough, with two a piece. And once I'm alone....well, I'll do what needs to be done when it needs to be. Hopefully that is just to wait." As Ciaran and Nathanial finish helping her prepare, Feather collects some scraps to start helping Ciaran.

Besides the crackling of the fire and any conversation the pàrty might be having, the cave remained silent while they worked. If the void walker was waiting, then it and any of its other possible allies were oddly silent. It did not seem like they were willing to disturb the party at this juncture, at the very least.

Vorbrin returned the starknife to Feather.

"Very well, we will split up for a short while. Just remember to be on your guard. Watch the watchers, so to say. And one other thing."

He put his own cooking put beside the one Nathaniel lay down earlier. Then he waved his hand above the pots and mumbled an incantation: Grumbar the great, mighty and stout, give us the water that feeds the ground. A small cloud appeared above the cooking pots and filled them with water.

"Take one of these. The second one will stay with us. Should the vests fail, we will be ready."

"All right, Feather, le's see how the path goes. If it's no too dangerous, I reckon maybe I'd stay behind, but otherwise a solid plan." Ciaran agreed, somewhat relieved by her companion's reassurances.

Suddenly, the inquisitor spoke up and did the great hand gestures and the great beings in the sky responded.
"Hah, we'll be all right!" Ciaran said boisterously. And she walked on ahead, covered in rags, holding a pot of water close.
