Nodding, Autumn would once again become silent and walk to the center of the gathering party, still standing proud despite her exhaustion and injuries. Den would shift away from her, seeming to be somewhat uncomfortable with the presence of the void walker before walking out of the cave, hovering slightly above the ground all the way. Autumn still doesn't seem to notice his presence.

Waiting outside of the cave, the dragon would look at Vorbrin in particular for just one moment before he slinks out along the coast line. Outside, sunlight streams from between scattered clouds that still unravel from the night before. Birds were out and singing, some songs familiar and welcome, others strange, humorous and slightly unsettling, and for now things seemed to have calmed. The Trapmaster, or Asper as he seemed to be called in this place, has likely moved on.

Nathanial

While you keep the look out, there doesn't really seem to be all that much out there beyond birds, insects, sunlight, and the occasional newt drifting down the river. As far as threats go, well, Den is actually a rather stark contrast to the rest of reality at the moment, in a manner that is almost unsettling in and of itself, and some of the sounds are not something you would want to get closer to, but beyond that it doesn't seem like anything is truly off. The journal in your possession does not seem to have regained the magical properties it once held... or if it has, then the magic is still inert and no further messages have appeared.

Feather

You would notice Autumn glancing about, trying to surreptitiously keep tabs on what everyone is doing in camp. In particular, you notice that she seems to focus on the glow coming from the back of your palm, the outlines of the map holding her gaze for a few moments before she hurriedly looks away. It doesn't seem like she noticed that you know she is watching all of you.

Vorbrin

Much like your companions, you notice the sounds and sights of the world, and much like Feather you notice that your "guest" is taking an interest in your activities. However, you also spot something else within the still-wet dirt of the silt shore beside your campsite, a washed away imprint. More specifically, imprints of multiple tracks. One of them appears to be humanoid in nature, but the rest... well it would be hard to say just how many there are, but at least half of them bear the claws of some small carnivorous beast. What kind is almost impossible to say, given how faded they have become. As for the footprints, their owner is also rather hard to identify, given the fact that the rain seems to have fallen on that particular set of prints for a longer period of time than the rest.

While Den doesn't have expressions in the traditional sense, you could tell that he wanted to speak with you from the way his "eyes" kept contact with yours. How such an impression might have been given is slightly unnerving to think about, but the intention was clear. He wished to speak outside of the earshot of your new... companion.

Nathanial mused as to the nature of the wildlife. It wasn't every day you had the opportunity to wander another plane of existence and observe its inhabitants, and still less often you were able to experience those inhabitants not capable of traveling dimensions themselves.

After gathering her items, Feather took a seat on the cave floor, in a place she could easily watch over Autumn. To pass the time while the others got ready to leave, she started throwing her special starknife at the cave wall, calling it back, and repeating such actions.

Vorbrin took in the sights and stroke his beard thoughtfully.

"I may have found some tracks. It's hard to say after the rain though. I may require several minutes to figure out if they are important. Be on the look out and get ready, we may need to move out fast."

With that Vorbrin went out of the cave following the tracks. As he passed Den he gave him a barely visible nod, indicating to follow him away from the others.

Nathanial

Strangely, many of the calls sound rather familiar to you. From robins and cardinals, to the house finch and even, though it is hard to make out since it mimics literally everything else, a few catbirds here and there, just changing their song to match something else in the forest. However, some genuinely new avians can be heard, ones that your notes don't seem to mention, and that you wouldn't be able to identify very well by sound regardless, given all you have are written descriptions.

Insects, on the other hand, you can identify in spades. Mostly because, after your extensive research into the planes at large, you are able to make out most things that are native to the four elemental planes. Given the sounds, you know that most of the insectoid-like creatures are influenced by the planes of earth or water, and are able to clearly identify the sounds of Ankheg quite a long ways away. Certain other sounds, like water cicadas and beetles, are also familiar to you, given your origins on the sword coast.

The newts are adorable. Also, some of them are obviously influenced by the plane of fire (in fact, one of the creatures that you identified as a newt before turns out to be a serpentine juvinile Salamander just drifting down the river), and others are, for the most part, influenced by the plane of water. Only a few are really natural animals, and of them, you can tell that the less planarly-influenced are just newborn versions of the dire creature. You also notice one or two shock lizards, though they seem peacefull enough, and only attack one of the amphibians if they get in the lizard's way of basking in the dawn.

All in all, it doesn't seem like this area is all too dangerous... then again, the things you might need to be concerned about probably aren't going to be singing cheerful tunes. And some of those cheerful tunes do randomly stop and not start up again...

((I assume those are what the checks were for, if I was wrong, then feel free to correct me!))

Feather

As you practice, Autumn turns her attention to you more fully, and she tilts her head at your technique. Blinking once and giving a curious huff, the void walker would walk over and stand a short ways away from you, her eyes tracking the movement of the dagger before it flies back to your hands, and she gives a small chuckle. "It does not look like you need much practice with your weapon. Tell me... who trained you to do such things? It has been a while since I have seen anyone effectively use throwing weapons to the effect that you have, and if you are self taught then that is... well... impressive."

Vorbrin

The dragon continues to slink away from the cave beside you, feet still not touching the ground while he silently treads upon the air. When the dragon is certain that no one else is following or able to hear, he would lean over and ask, "So then... what creature are we tracking, and should we truly be concerned of them at this current moment?" This is... in no way what the dragon wanted to talk about. But given his general cautious nature, it makes sense for him to inquire about any potential threats.

The trail leads up and away from the coast line, winding through the forest and around some trees. From what you can tell, the creatures seemed to split off of the humanoid's trail at this juncture, heading in a south-eastern direction... and now you can tell that there were multiple creatures. As for how many, well...

Nathanial took a brief moment to hastily scribble down the names of the creatures he observed—ordinary finches and Ankhegs and all. Someone back home might be interested in the fauna here, and if not, it might come in useful later.

Keeping the map at a bad angle, and seeing as how that hand is the one she was using to throw the weapon, it wasn't too hard to do, Feather smiled at the void walker. She let the weapon fly once more, then responded. "Oh, it was mostly a self-taught sort of thing. I say mostly, because life in itself directed me to such a path. Life, and luck." The starknife returned to her again, and it again found its way to the cave wall.

Nathanial

With your notes added, the lists of things that might be encountered, as well as notes about how particularly present the influence of the primordial planes seems to be, you begin to get a little bit clearer picture of what is going on within the Void... though it's just casual observations at this point.

As you write, Feather and Autumn begin to strike up a conversation close by. The void walker seems to be enjoying watching your companion practice.

Feather

By now there would be enough cuts in the moistened earth of the dirt wall that bits and clumps were sliding off, tumbling down into the river you had camped next to. Autumn seems to be genuinely impressed, and comments, "Well now, self taught? You must have faced quite a few challenges in your day to battle our..." Struggling for the word, she would settle on, "produced warriors. It is a pity that I did not get to see your skills first hand before. I observed only the knight and your angry, short leader. They were effective but... lacked your finesse." She said, before sighing and asking, "So if you are not here with the traitor, then how did you come to the void? And why? It must have been quite important if you managed to find a way to slip past the dimension lock."

Vorbrin

Counting the tracks, or at least, doing the best that you can, you can tell that there were anywhere from five to over three dozen small, bipedal, predatory creatures, but the distortion from the rain prevents you from getting too much more precise than that. The dragon, once you write off whatever they were as a non-threat, snorts a bit and says, "Remember the mission we are currently on, my friend. Hunting these creatures down if they were a threat might be necessary, but if you are certain that there is nothing to worry about, then we should not go looking to provoke a fight. After all, it seems that armies have already taken interest in this world... it would be best to avoid causing even more of a commotion as much as we possibly can." However, you can tell that the dragon is saying this with regret... as if he relishes the chance to hunt something down as well.

Drifting down to the earth, Den would turn and face you to give you an answer to your other question. "Her presence bodes ill. While she is likely a minor officer within the command structure of the void armies, this... Autumn is still part of a military force, and is thus likely part of the expedition branch of a true army. If her faction is already present on the world, then others will be coming soon, or might already be here and in control of the portals we are trying to reach. Needless to say, if one of them were to perceive me, or we were to draw their ire, it would not bode well for... well, any of us here. And the longer this void walker accompanies us, the more likely her faction is to find this party."

Vorbrin

Looking over you with his eyeless face for a moment, Den would hum and consider the question. "Well. The reason I remained unseen is that I do have to take certain... precautions against the notice of natives of this plane. After all, you saw how the mindless janitors of reality reacted to my presence. Now imagine what it would look like if an army of people with weapons and spells that have range could suddenly grasp my existence." He explains, only the slightest bit of humor in his voice before he continues. "And as for how. Well, Lucian has been my ally for quite some time. It comes with certain... perks."

Feather

Autumn's eyes narrow slightly at your response, and she opens her mouth before thinking better of the retort she was thinking, and becoming silent for a moment to think of her response again. With a more patient voice than she had originally been about to use, she asks, "So then, you know nothing of the purpose or the methods he used to pierce the veil? Nothing about his motivations, or how to get yourselves back to the place where you belong? That is... unfortunate. Did he abandon you so completely that you don't even have the slightest bit of help in this, well for you anyway, new plane?"

And while having Autumn's friends see you may be a risk, having them see us without her will most definitely lead to violence as was proven yesterday. So I will not let go of her that easily." Vorbrin got up and dusted himself off, "now let's get back to others and keep moving. The creatures ran off in a different direction from our route and I'd rather not get too sidetracked."
