Vorbrin

Den would seem to snarl in annoyance for just a moment, but hearing the reason in your voice, the dragon would stand back up and state, "Fine. However, if she becomes too much of a threat, or if she begins leading us astray... I will not allow her to endanger my mission. And yes, we should be getting back with as much haste as we can..." The dragon sighs, floating up into the air once again to leave as little of a trail as possible to notice or track him by.

Feather and Nathanial

Taken a bit aback by her sudden promotion from prisoner to assistant, Autumn's face would show just the slightest twitch of emotion, a mix between annoyance and pleasant surprise, it would seem. Quickly resuming her emotionless mask, the void walker would carefully say, "Well, I'm not sure how I would be able to offer assistance to your party, but... if you are truly stranded here without even the slightest bit of assistance, then I suppose that it would be... irresponsible to leave you to your own devices. One of you might be foolish enough to wander across a pack of feral void hounds, or into the maw of a sleeping creation dragon. Well... not that the second one would be all to deadly, but it would be rather embarrassing to say the least." She said, her tone dry and without much, if any, detectable humor.

Looking over to Nathanial, the void waler would then ask, "However, if you are without help then I do wonder... who gave you the blessing of Creation? Very, very few beings can do that these days, you know."

"...One of you might be foolish enough to wander across a pack of feral void hounds, or into the maw of a sleeping creation dragon. Well... not that the second one would be all to deadly, but it would be rather embarrassing to say the least."

"That is a common occurrence?" said Nathanial, as he pulled his nose out of his notes and packed them away. "We have made acquaintance with friend Lucian in the manner you described, but of course his concerns seem to be somewhat broader than a handful of mere mortals wandering through this domain. Understandable of course, but unfortunate for our current circumstances.

It is true that this 'Asper' stranded us here, and we had no intention of coming here prior to our arrival. Our intent had been to destroy him, and it pains me that we failed in that regard. If he intends to use our presence here to further his own ends, we have no knowledge of what those goals could be...though it would not surprise me." Nathanial's expression was one of worried concern. "He has made no attempt to destroy us despite our previous attempt to kill him."

"That is a common occurrence?" said Nathanial, as he pulled his nose out of his notes and packed them away.

"Well no, not exactly. It is just a common..." Grasping for a word, the smiling void walker would try to think of the closest thing in your version of common and settle on, "Folk tail. Creation dragon sleep for quite a long time, it's not uncommon to mistake them for caverns."

"We have made acquaintance with friend Lucian in the manner you described, but of course his concerns seem to be somewhat broader than a handful of mere mortals wandering through this domain. Understandable of course, but unfortunate for our current circumstances."

And almost instantly, the amusement she was getting from the conversation, or at least her mockery of it, disappeared at the mention of Lucian's name. Her face becoming stone once more, Autumn would look away from both of you and she said nothing. Whatever curiosity she'd had seemed slaked... and not in a good way.

Seeing this, Nathanial was instantly contrite. "My apologies, I did not mean to cause you distress.  If you will inform me where I have erred, I will endeavor not to do it again."

With Autumn's reaction to the name Lucian, and the recent message telling her not to trust Den, Feather was a little curious. "What do you know of Lucian?"

Nathanial and Feather

Autumn would look at Nathanial, her gaze holding more ice than exhaustion at the moment, but she would remain silent. Though good news! You did get her to look at you... And given the loathing in that glance, getting this void walker to acknowledge your existance is a victory that you should be proud of.

Everyone

Fortunately the awkwardness of this moment soon comes to an end as Vorbrin and Den soon return. Giving the exquisitor just a casual glance of disdane, Autumn sets herself and seems prepared to move on, while the dragon silently turns himself about almost immediately, obviously impatiant by this point. A shock lizard crawls out of the river, gives all of you a rather lazy and benign glance for just a moment, before looking up at something above the cave you were taking shelter in. With a small release of sparks and the electric hum of static, the lizard hurriedly scuttles back into the water and begins floating away again.

((Perception checks for anyone that comes out of the cave, and we should roll for a random encounter or two relatively soon! I swear! ))

Everyone

Shockingly, at least in Nathanial's case as the paladin had been quite obviously distracted by the behavior of the shock lizard, all of you manage to catch at least a glimpse of the creature that had set the shock lizard so on edge. Looking up at the edge of the ridge, Nathanial managed to catch a glympse of a fleeing, tendril-covered form before it disappears, but Feather and Vorbrin get a much more clear picture.

The tiny creature on the cliff appears to be a hound, except where a normal beast would have fur, and where the void hound you encountered had six legs, this four legged freak had tentacles all along its body that waved lightly through the air, as if wafting the scent of the air coming from the party. Noticing just how spotted it had become the creature would open its mouth in a silent hiss and turn about, tiny feet scrambling through the wet underbrush as it lopes away almost silently. The leaves under its paws letting out a sound almost like that of the rain from last night, and if Vorbrin wished to check, he would discover that it left behind tracks the same shape and roughly the same size as the ones he had followed. Of the creature itself, there was nothing more to be seen but the rustling of a wet thicket.

Growling lightly, a new shadow detaching from his frame and momentarily covering Autumn's eyes and ears, Den would hiss, "We have delayed for too long... Let us move on and be done with this place." And with that, the dragon would begin to walk through the air, and Autumn would be freed of the darkness that made her blind and deaf... Well, to the dragon at the very least. For her part, the void walker doesn't seem to care if you go or not, and casts glares that contain a mixture of confusion and anger periodically at Nathanial.

Nathanial

The creature doesn't seem to be part of your notes... however, you do recall tales of a creature that looked similar to it appearing only about three decades prior to your birth, long after the void was sealed away. While you can't quite recall its name and you remember the tales describing it to be the size of a wolf instead of an overgrown rat, you recall that there were reports of disappearances and zombie activities that followed soon after the creature's first sighting.

While many people seemed concerned that this meant a restart to the Void War, even going so far as to name the zombies part of the outbreak "void zombies," the infection was quickly cleared out by a group of priests, and the creature was never spotted after the first sighting, leading to many to forget about and only lazily record what had happened to the frontier town New Bergost.

"Lady Autumn," Nathanial told her, looking confused at her continued hostility, "whatever your personal quarrel with me, I will ask you to remain close to me for the time being, for your safety. Comrades," he addressed the others, "we may soon need to concern ourselves with undead."

For his part, Den seems to be a bit concerned when mention of undead is made, and he would hover ever so slightly higher above the ground. Autumn would stray ever so slightly closer to Nathanial, giving him a curious glance but not seemingly outwardly concerned about the prospect of the walking dead.

((Oh hey, look at that. ))

However, nothing further interrupts your leaving preparations, and you are on your way in relatively short order. The forest seems to be  relatively silent once you leave the river's edge, your current quest leading you away from that semi-flooded embankment and all of the creatures that lived beside it, and instead into a quieter, if still rather wet, section of the forest. While you don't hear all too many creatures, and the walking dead don't seem to be present at the moment, the way the underbrush becomes thicker and begins to impede your progress quickly explains why animals might avoid this particular psuedo-tropical place.

Though it does not prevent Den from walking through nearly unimpeded, if lagging slightly behind so that Autumn won't notice the hole the dragon "burns" through the underbrush, Nathanial would at times be forced to draw his blade and spend some time hacking through a small stand of young trees and thick vines. It was after clearing away a particular area of brush that you would finally hear something a bit... particular. While even here you'd heard sings of insectoid, amphibian and reptilian chatter on your way here, the air would be filled with a low, constant humming, and you would see that you had broken into the edge of a clearing in the forest.

((Make checks as you desire!))

Nathanial peered around, trying to make sense of what he was hearing. "It seems to be...some kind of construct?" He tried to meet the eyes of his comrades, to see if any of them had any further insight.
