Post your Art

I couldn't find a thread for this(and nobody answered me fast enough, lol), so I made one.

Post your Art. Drawings/Sketches, Paintings, Clay work, Metal work, Mixed media, etc. Artist roll call!

I did all these over 10 years ago:

Unfortunately not. I've never been talented at art. I sang a lot when I was little but my voice changed so I lost even that

Holy Cow Fredman!!  These are awesome.

That rose the shading and soft strokes are gorgeous.  They are very moving, dark, oppressive and unsettling

The last one, I think has to be my favorite.  There is no much emotion in that grimace.  Its just brilliant.

Very very impressed.  I for one would like to see more.  You are lucky, you have a real talent.  A lot of us don't have any artistic talent whatsoever.

thanks, meroe. i don't understand what you see about the strokes of the rose(the dark, oppressive and unsettling part). do you mean the pic i took of it? because i didn't use a flash?

The rose, I was talking about the shading.  Even though its one color, you have still managed to get a great light effect on the rose.  Its the shading.

The dark, oppressive and unsettling description goes for all of the pictures lol.  They are all unsettling, but in a beautiful weird way.  Like, do you remember when we were talking about H.R. Giger, and how his work was diabolical and sexual and organic.  Dark, bizarre and how it left you feeling a bit icky .

Its that type of art.  Some people draw beautiful still life flowers, landscapes etc.  And others do the dark shapes we only see in our nightmares

huh. i thought the rose and the sad form in a chair were innocent enough. looks like i was wrong.

lol, you think these are unsettling, you should see the stuff i can't post. which is too bad, because some of it is pretty good. in a much darker way.

i actually did a lot of landscape scenery stuff, even a pixie sitting on a flower, but i can't show that, because she's nude; and my best landscape stuff either isn't finished or missing, and my very best picture i gave to a girl years ago(a landcape scene with a pond, lilypads, cattails, tree, a nice sky, and a nude pixie on a rock). i have yet to find her in order to get it back to it's rightful owner. not that i've tried yet; it just isn't on my to-do list.

what do you think of #4? i won 3rd place on the east coast region job corps art contest with that. which isn't really saying much, but there were some pretty damn good artists in that contest. my poem came in 1st, though.

Yeah the 4th picture is fantastic.  As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of Marc Chagall's, I and the village -

And Picasso's Guernica

I've been obsessed with Chagall since I was a kid and first saw Birth - it both disgusted and fascinated me.

This is the 1910 Birth - they used to affect me a lot when I was young.

Trying to shrink these down .... too big

ok, i was only able to seperate all of my art from my poetry today. so tomorrow maybe i'll post something else. I'm thinking of making a collage of all the smaller stuff, consolidating that into one(or two) pics.

Nice work you've got there dude
What technique did you us for these?
---------------------------------

I draw a lot of stuff too, but I just can't find time to upload my drawings. I got a good amount of drawings in my notebook that I filled during school. It's some really weird stuff as the others say, but it looks good considering that I use a pen to draw and not a pencil

That's truly beautiful Fred, you have talent!

I do draw but my drawings are kind of ugly, most of the time when I see they aren't what I was hoping for I stop completely, and then I produce half-made botched drawings.

So, Fred, keep up the good work, at least you can enjoy your abilities.

thanks, guys. noobx, you look like you're gearing up to make your own game. i only have a couple of drawings for stuff that i was actually going to produce.

in middle school, i was drawing a notebook comic called "the slasher", but all of my work got stolen, along with my bookbag, when i stupidly left it behind while i chased a friend through the hall. doesn't really matter, the artwork was crap anyway(funnily enough, i found my storyline, and some of my artwork, in a published comic 5 years later).

i've done some other drawings of characters for stories i was writing(i had one of jack, the homicidal schizophrenic from the "stories of fun-loving lunatics" thread, but it has since gone missing. i'll have to do another one. preferably in color. which reminds me. i have another one i forgot to post, called "rage", that borders on the kind of stuff i maybe shouldn't post, but which i think is pg-13 enough). i have some that i HAVE found, i will post those next, after "rage", probably.

lol, close enough xD Those characters are supposed to be in the HoMM3 map I am currently making. Drawing them makes it easier for me to implememt them into the game as I already have an idea of what they should be like.

I still haven't compiled what I want to post besides this, so for now, I'll just post "Rage":

This one is little more than a drawing, but it has a lot of emotion in it. Initially, I had been in a very art-making kind of mood. I had been trying to do a nature scene, but the pad of paper I was using wouldn't stay up(I had wanted to draw vertically, instead of horizontally, and the duct tape I was using was ripping the paper and seperating the page from the rest of the book). So, I became quite angry. Very, very angry. So I tore the unfinished nature drawing to pieces, and threw the pad down flat, and drew this instead. The picture of this art didn't come out so well, there is still a glare, but I did my best to transfer the art into a useable picture I could post here.

(lol, i copied the description from DeviantArt. i'm lazyefficient that way. )

(just remembered that this piece is actually the 3rd rendition of the drawing, btw. the first two, i kept tearing the paper all to **** while trying to draw on it. which, of course, frustrated me even more. like i said, there's a LOT of emotion in this one.)

I have written some bad poetry and some short stories before. I could set to translating some of it, if that's what fits. Sadly enough, I don't have the patience/ hands for visual media. I have to say Fred's drawings are very impressive. They're intimate in a way, not per se sexual, rather the drawings seem to present someone's insides or they seem to very close to me, as the man in the chair glares at me disappointedly and the man with the hollow eyes and the grin creeps me out. But in a good way!

Also, noob, Dimyargh seems like he's rocking an awesome set of shades.
I like your drawings, noob, they seem very erm... classically fantastic? Like HOMM2, it's charming.

I'll just link stories I posted here before:
My racist uncle
Some stories about yesterday
I could set to translating some other stories and maybe some poems, if someone is curious. Poetry, sadly, doesn't translate well, especially since a lot of my poetry is based on rhythm and the sound and harmony of words, but that doesn't translate at all. Maybe I can look through a few to see if some does. I am in luck that English and Dutch are closely related, in case I would want to translate.
