Just look at how disastrous Trump's incompetence has been to USA. The spread of covid is not calming down like everywhere else, it is accelerating! It is terrible. Canada is starting to build a wall on it's border I hear, to keep the infected people coming from United States lol.

Yup, genetics are fake news and lies, sure. People getting sick or die younger than their statistic age - all their own fault due to an unhealthy lifestyle, all well deserved

You can lean back and watch now how things will deteriorate on the American continent minus Canada, where they tried to maintain a maximum of the economy. I remember, though, that I predicted this a couple of weeks ago - the US never stopped the virus and as of now it's out of control in many areas.

If anything goes up on that curb, look at BLM and democrat media encouraging and allowing huge crowd gatherings for about one month now. Try to forget about Trump for one second, if that is possible (I doubt)

@JJ

Your SDS kicks hard again? Having a healthy life-style works for anyone, including those with bad genetic predispositions, at some point. Note how dishonest you conclude that I think dying because unhealthy life is "well deserved". I suggest you shorten your nick to Joke, it will well earn what you became.

Not to mention how the protests were devastating further for the economy: people that were trying to get up on their feet after lockdown faced further obstructions: looting, paralysis of cities etc https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/capitol-hill-residents-and-businesses-sue-city-of-seattle-for-failing-to-disband-chop/. Now there will be suing, permanent damage and mutual accusations. Trump has stuff behind his ears, but it's time for some groups to reflect on their actions...

Yes, they were not prepared for a pandemic.

I agree that locking everyone did some harm, would have been better to lock only the people infected, however, it was not doable to mass test everyone for most (all?) states.

How you live is your responsibility.

Yes, but you forget that to stay healthy you need to be healthy in the first place. Some people are born with health issues, others are weak just because nature is harsh, and for our elders, they were not spared even if they were healthy all their life, because they are naturally vulnerable simply because they are old.

One of the dangers of this virus is that it’s not so dangerous for everyone anyway. May sound ironic at first but here’s the thing, it has quite a long incubation period, and if you’re young and healthy, you may indeed not even realize you have covid-19. But you’lll be walking around and spreading it to hundreds of people, and for people above 65, the threat is much bigger. (People above 65 are quite the significant portion of the population in developed countries where people live long and dont have too many kids.)

If this was some virus like Ebola, which killed anyone fast, it would be more deadly for the individual but it would be much easier to contain, once detected.

Yeah that's the main issue with "people". "I'm young and healthy so I don't give a rats ass about the virus" - many think. But what they fail to understand or in many cases realize but don't give a damn about is that they are a danger to others. That's actually the main idea behind the masks - to reduce spreading the virus assuming you might be a "sleeper" infected.

Each day I hear about some incidents where a person didn't wear a mask in shop and once he/she was remarked about it (there are still recomendations to wear masks in closed spaces) they even react with agression. I myself see this on daily basis, one day I went to a gas station and a man without mask was paying for gasoline. The clerk was wearing a mask (me also) so she made a remark about it. She got a response: "lady I'm from the boonies, we don't have covid there"...

Research Determines Protests Did Not Cause Spike In Coronavirus Cases

Nationwide Protests Haven't Caused a COVID-19 Spike (So Far.) Here's What We Can Learn From That

A new analysis shows that the cities with the largest protests have not had spikes in transmission

I am not saying it is a great idea to protest right in the middle of a pandemic, but it sure ain't the main reason why America has been so unprepared and bad at taking action to tackle the virus.

@Minion

You do realize that there are paid "scientific" articles for both sides. I've also seen articles that state protests are causing a wider spread of virus (or rather the fact that people won't stay at home), but I didn't quote them here as probably some people would debunk them becasue it doesn't fit the rethoric. There is a record-breaking raise in covid cases in USA and that's a FACT, whatever the reason behind it. Being outside does not HELP the situation. I wouldn't put my finger on those articles. We still don't know that much about the virus (there is no vaccine) so how can you tell if cause-effect relations are wrong or right?

I would mainly suggest common sense: a big gathering of people, masks or not, raises the chances of any virus spreading. Sure, enclosed spaces are far worse, but we are talking people screaming and squeezing in crowds for a couple of hours straight, the very anti-thesis of social distancing. For each ten or so people who will wear a mask there will be one that won't and he might be the one with the virus.

This is like saying "to stay alive you need to be alive in first place", seriously?

All started with me replying to fred who stated Covid as life threatening illness. So it was an answer to him, an young individual and his peers. Then, on a more general level, having a wealthy life style helps at any age, any genetic disorder, is not quantum physics.

Why are we even debating such basic knowledge? Ah, JJoke jumping in each time my post count increases.

All those lunatics who constantly preach for open borders and free movement now got their money back, so there is NO excuse, at least from me. It was only a matter of time until we realize that every part of the world has its specifics ups and downs, hygiene and health concerning. The question now is, have we learned enough to change our views and politics?

Seems not, as every critic I read focuses on leaders lack of experience instead of the big design failures.

Minion, there are no articles because no need of.

No one sane in his mind would ever debate whether huge crowd gatherings during a pandemic spike does or doesn't accelerate infections. The fact that such studies exist in first place shows enough why the political aspect prevails on health principles, and that's quite frightening. I mean, look at your own posted curve, when it starts going up like none before?

Well look up the word "Truthism". But the fact is that in Boston, 2.5% of the surveyed protesters tested positive; about 1.8% tested positive in Minneapolis and less than 1% tested positive in Seattle. That compares with overall test positivity rates of 2.5% in Boston, about 3.6% in the state of Minnesota, and 6.4% in King County, where Seattle is located.

You can try to blame BLM on the entirety of the spike (as you do on everything else) if you want, but the reality is not on your side. And hey, I already said it is not a good idea that protests are held at the time of a pandemic. So we do agree on that at least.

And who knows, it might cause bigger spike in the future.

Being born with health conditions vs being born with no health conditions is by no means as saying being born or not being born at all.

Quote:
having a wealthy life style helps at any age

It does help, it does not necessarily saves you. Do you seriously believe ALL of the people of a certain age succumbing to covid had unhealthy lifestyle? You can't be serious.

About open borders in such times, I agree that was madness.

Dishonest? That's your second name. May I remind you:

Quote:
Covid is not life threatening, I had it and was barely a scratch. But it can become if you present other symptoms, however that's the case with hundreds of illnesses. Don't be obese, train regularly, don't smoke or take drugs, then you are fine against most of bad things circulating out there.

So you say:
1) Covid is not life-threatening (because you supposedly had it and was fine!)
2) It can be, though, if you have anything else;
3) You don't get anything else if you have a healthy life-style. Ergo->
4) Anyone dying from covid dies because of their life-style.

It's that simple. Dishonest? Yes. YOU. As always.

However, and I know this may not seem wise to say so. I start to suspect, that you are actually a rather stupid person. Stupid in the sense of unintelligent. Because you seem to miss basic cognitive abilities.
Example: If I remember right you were a chain-smoker until a few years ago. Additionally, you don't sleep a lot, due to a hormonal dysfunction. After quitting smoking you also got obese, you wrote. And that's only scratching the surface and what I know. No idea whether you work out regularly or something like that or whether you are just sitting on your a$$, what you eat and so on, plus you had your childhood in Romania - not a land known for the healthy diet it was offering their children. All in all - not a healthy lifestyle.
Still, you claim you had covid and it was nothing.
Logic? Nada.

I smoked for 20 years, up to 40 cigarettes/day. I quit smoking 6 years ago because I realized it was greatly affecting my health.

After quitting, I became overweight, had a BMI +5 and I realized it was affecting my health as well.

Had to take decisions and stick to, so:

I train regularly, already 5 years I go to gym 4-5 times a week (even posted here a funny pic about returning after Covid's long pause). I am still somehow overweight (+ 2 BMI) because I don't sleep enough to entirely process metabolism, but that's it, I am in good shape otherwise. I can decently run marathons and defend myself if in trouble.

Combined to training, I had to go through the inevitable food diet as well.

So I was not so surprised a flu like Covid didn't kill me.

I never said that healthy life-style makes you invulnerable, but I see you repeating that because without it our pseudo-debate wouldn't exist.

See, all your ignorant comments destroyed. Next time think about life style not being crystallized and definitive, but in continuous transformation and adaptation, as we humans have an unique characteristic, our will.

I didn't say it's fake. I only mentioned it's hard to discern what is the truth as there are paid articles, misconceptions, political agendas etc. Some results come only after a longer period of time so pronouncing "evidence shows" is not always final. It's easier to make a statement and hold to it then to admit you were wrong between scientists. You totally missed my point here. The problem about science is that it is constantly confronted. For instance the all-healthy soy now is doubted as some research shows eating it has long-term side effects.

The problem is that most articles titled "blm did not influence covid cases" are articles from around two weeks ago. But the current spike has appeared at the start of July. Ofc it still might not be related, but... the issue might be that most protesters are younger people (who might not even be aware they are infected) so the death toll might be lower, but they are still potential sources of infections.

https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/06/us-covid-19-cases-top-2-million-first-protest-linked-infections-noted

"Though it's not clear how many of the 1,300 troops active in DC in recent weeks are infected, the news dampens optimism that outdoor protests with masked participants would not necessarily spread the novel coronavirus."

Take note that not only #blm protests are to blame here. But I stated many times about "gatherings", not #blm in particular (but those are the most numerous ones at present).

Read my post again, points 1-4. Too difficult for you?

Also - in what kind of world do you live? You think, only the last year counts for "lifestyle"? You think 20 years of smoking 40 a day is done after some running? Ah, no, now it is WILL(power). So now covid victims are weak-willed. It gets better and better.

Did you read too many twitter messages of your hero, maybe?
