Still, it's a good idea. Mexico is a problem. How about illegal immigrants?

It is most certainly not a good idea. It would have horrible and lasting effects on relations with the whole world. Not to mention the lack of really any popular support at home. Mexico is not a problem, and illegal immigration can be solved in a less horrid way.

I assure you that you can't solve the problem of illegal immigration so easily. Mexico is basically a drug factory with no laws. It's up to us to protect our children from the evil from the south.

That is utterly ridiculous. So the only way to handle illegal immigration is an invasion? The way you speak makes me think you are joking, but believe what you want.

It's just 100 km wide DMZ with barbed wire. Actually, it can be set on the U.S. territory. But in this scenario the government will have to solve issues with private property.

I do so enjoy political discussions...about as much as I'd enjoy a kidney stone....
What Americans.... should do.... since all the politicians lie anyway... is elect some random joe off the street for president. Some bum who works a crappy job, has had his life kicking his arse since day one, where it appears that equality is nothing more than a meaningless word, and have that person attempt with all due power of the government and "presidency" that the title permits him, or her, with.... To attempt to give everyone the equality they all desire.
It'll never happen of course, once people get what they want, they desire something else LOL They do so love to preach and do the exact opposite of what they say Every day's a soap opera. Everyone's a hypocrite. Everyone else can easily point at someone else and immediately say, "there way of thinking/doing/being is wrong!"
Democrats and Republicans love that divide.... Pitting the United States' people against each other in a vote, which is potentially rigged, just to keep them all oblivious to the true enemy that the government is to the people.
So... what my proposal would be.... with this average, clueless joe as a president... Would be to fix that corrupt system of jackwagons in congress, by bootin them all to the curb, getting fellow poor shmucks in to take their place with the same, like-minded set of improving America as a WHOLE where everyone's EQUAL without discrimination based on sex, race, religion, and all that bologna....
It's a wishful thought, and I'm sure plenty will flame their disapproval of this message....
BUT, as a politician would say.... *snicker* I'm Gorman and I approve this message!

It would be so epic if there was a double contested convention. The Green Mountain socialist just blitzed 6 out of 7 states against The She-Bill after her earlier conquest in the south. On the red front, Carrot Man is staggering now that there aren't 500 jackasses to split up the establishment GOP vote into little pieces. There's just the traitorous Hispanic Tea Partier and the Ohioan, John Kasich, who is higher than a kite to still be running in a party that has one foot in the grave. The GOP is experiencing what the Democrats did in the 70s. There might not be a single candidate to acquire the necessary delegates, which will mean a 1 week political tempest. I'm turning out to be quiet a big fan of this ideological bloodbath. It's glorious.

Here I thought most people blamed the recent deaths in America (e.g. a lunatic killing children in schools) due to everyone's freedom to keep guns, weapons and other whatnot.

Quote: Fix Our Broken Mental Health System
Let’s be clear about this. Our mental health system is broken. It needs to be fixed. Too many politicians have ignored this problem for too long.
All of the tragic mass murders that occurred in the past several years have something in common – there were red flags that were ignored. We can’t allow that to continue. We need to expand treatment programs, because most people with mental health problems aren’t violent, they just need help. But for those who are violent, a danger to themselves or others, we need to get them off the street before they can terrorize our communities. This is just common sense.
And why does this matter to law-abiding gun owners? Once again, because they get blamed by anti-gun politicians, gun control groups and the media for the acts of deranged madmen. When one of these tragedies occurs, we can count on two things: one, that opponents of gun rights will immediately exploit it to push their political agenda; and two, that none of their so-called “solutions” would have prevented the tragedy in the first place. They’ve even admitted it.
We need real solutions to address real problems. Not grandstanding or political agendas.

The 2nd Amendment was never interpreted with such laxity until the 1970s. In the 1950s the NRA was a major supportor of gun control laws. So, if you do advocate a position of "firearms rule", you can, but you're lying if you claim to have the weight of political history at your back. The contemporary American gun culture - as we currently know it - is an aberration that really fully caught on in the 1980s (echoing with the rise in violent crime in America that began in the 1960s and peaked in the 1990s before declining again). The average 1940s American, of either party, would find a neoconservative's/Tea Partier's views on guns to be eccentric. It simply wasn't a hot button issue at all. Today, firearms can be an American material power symbol, similar to a motorcycle or a nice car.

Why does your camp always need somebody to blame?
Widely circulated semi-automatic weapons is a bad policy. I don't really care much on who does or doesn't have them. Only that if they do have them, they shouldn't.

But there is a major difference between the two groups you have mentioned. If the first group gets corrupted, the second one becomes defenseless.
