I'm glad that the themes for Fortress and Inferno were included in the official soundtrack. Especially the Fortress one (don't mind the hiccup at the beginning, prolly an error somewhere) has a level of strength at the start that matches well with Dwarves. Although I think the H5 theme has that power all-over.

@Galaad, you should rephrase the philosophy expression to 'making the WORST of a bad situation'
Regarding flanking and repositioning, it's somewhat funny that in Heroes Online, they also introduced the flanking ability, but you could also enable facing direction option, meaning you can make your stack face any desired direction after taking turn. Of course you'd still be vulnerable to be flanked yourself if you just flanked your enemy, but it also allows you to do some tactical placement. But this is also linked to the bigger battlefields that often contains various obstacles as well as variations in actual field size. Seems odd why they didn't incorporate those ideas.

verriker said: I don't think they composed the adventure map music lol
is all from a music sample CD called The Complete Celt in 1999, they ripped it and just barely remixed it, tweaking instruments basically, check out here all the tracks are there barely different lol
it's beautiful music, I love the guys and wish they composed it to give them credit, but, well, they didn't lol
I think Paul Romero explained enough why Heroes 4 Theme sounds similar to for example Twelve Kingdoms theme or to Warlords Battlecry 2 and from where he got basic them and why.

Things you'll see the AI now doing come 1.8 onwards.
In Combat
Using Wait
Using Creature Abilities
Improved targeting (no longer can you do single stacks to bait attacks)
Better use of hero spells.
The AI doesn`t target single 1s from a long time. If it can attack a larger stack and 1s it will attack the larger stack and suicide itself. But it has been like that even before 1.7

I have heard it was from anime, but here I thought it was the other way around, that the anime has based the music upon Heroes IV compositions.
At least they got taste.

*sigh*
I think some of you might miss my previous post, so here you go:
Paul Romero said: The chord progressions used in both sets of music [HOMM IV soundtrack and Twelve Kingdoms ] are progressions that date back up to 500 years. Many composers use the same chord progression (only 12 major and 12 minor chords exist in all music) so you will hear these progressions in many many pieces of music over the last 5 centuries. As for the second set of comparisons, I think whoever created the music for twelve kingdoms probably did hear my music from HOMMIV because I've never played a video game or watched anime my entire life! So I know I've never been exposed to any music from twelve kingdoms (actually I've never even heard of it). I only write music for specific areas that game producers ask of me.
I think what all three of us composers have in common is that we probably used an ancient instrument sample (companies sell pre-recorded bits of ancient instruments playing very old melodic fragments which then I can add orchestral accompaniment and vary the speed of the melody to suit the mood. These fragments come in instrumental catalogs and many soundtrack composers will use bits and pieces of melodies to incorporate into their scores. I'm not sure what catalog the little tune came from but I'm sure it's from the same one that the other composers used as well. I try not to use such pre-recorded fragments due to the fact that lots of other composers will be using the same tool, but when you have deadlines like we have in this industry (i.e., producers needing a 3 minute piece of music within 24 hours, composed, recorded, mixed, mastered, then embedded into the graphics), we use every tool possible in order to have a good-sounding piece of music created in a timely fashion.

I think the ai usually goes for Elite stacks, not sure why, it would be better to go for the target it could do the most DMG, means the one with lowest defense and for targets without buffs like regen or stoneskin

yeah have obviously seen that, you began contradicting Elvin by insisting the music was created by them but then you posted that, it looked like you assumed from text they just used a couple small samples and did not know the entire tracks are old tracks from library CD except small tweaks lol

This is something I was expecting when I first heard this game would have a Flanking feature. You could choose sacrifice your back to a weaker enemy in order to clash front to front a stronger foe. This is so basic that when I heard how flanking actually worked in H7 ... I heard and added to the list of things I thought it could have been better. The list is so big now that it's bigger than the game itself. Wonder how it ended like that. lel

Pretty much the same as Panda, except then from AoW3. The system there feels natural and being an older game than H7, I would have expected them to at least look at it and implement something very similar.
Instead, we got the curly shuffle we're seeing ingame now.

The game mechanics will not change. I hoped to make a difference there but I am only making subtle changes to a broken game. When presenting them the real issues , they tell me my view is biased towards multiplayer. So be it..heroes 7 will never be good, only slightly better than H6. I was defending the game for so long because my hope for it refused to die. I would change that, and that and the other thing but nothing is going to happen...so today my hope died. RIP
When a hardcore fan of particularly H7 is leaving you know how bad the storm is.

I hear ya loud and clear Nat. I had high hopes, gave it more than the chance it deserved, tryed to find the fun in it....it's fruitless. There's so many obvious faults that I can't understand how they made it past the drawing board in certain areas.
Only thing to do is observe from a distance.
