so we wasted the man's time on cabir. great.  enjoy your boring heroes with the same 5-8 specializations for everone. and of course THE AWESOME CABIR!!! i don't know how this game would be playable without knowing what the cabirs are about!!!

Chris, Cabirs as a replacement for gremlin is something new and of course there will be feedback. I like them a lot btw

Well Chris, I think you missed some rather important facts, like the one that the game is pre-alpha and their is more then 12 months in front of us. Sure there are vital parts of the game that have not been addressed yet but there might be a reason for that.

We know that the some of the heroes will have the same/similar abilities throughout the rooster. That was said.

And btw I actually wouldn't care if there would be no specializations at all.

Do you really belived that we heard anything new that wasn't discused already? We have some deeper look into basic things (like towns) but we didn't heard anything about skill system (only it is still work in progress) or about Stronghold or Necropolis.
Developers can tell us what they are allowed to tell by Ubisoft highers and nothing beyond that.

@Marzhin
While this chat didn't revealed any important new things, it was nevertheless worth to watch. I hope we see more this kind of community events in near future (where were Erwan and Limbic stuff BTW?).
BTW - nice try to establish your hero as main character in Ashan. We will see if it will pay.

I strongly agree. Random skill system is much better. Most other games have skill system that the player can choice which skills to go for...Heroes was always different, it should remain different.

What is the Heroes way:
Playing and strategizing with what you are given/offered and how to efficiently accomplish results with them (skill choices, artifacts, spells).

What adds to replayability in a turn based game?
Randomness.
Different paths each time.
Unknown circumstances.

dave_jame, having a hero with a specialization at cabirs, making them stronger at a percent, per hero level is smth that would make that hero unique and not just a portrait. how can you not care about hero individuality?
imagine a hero with ice bolt mastery evolving the effectiveness of the spell. you could build on water mastery by choosing the said hero.
like the old times. how can you not care? this game is called "heroes" for a reason.
some heroes having the same qualities with others is scary and it's a  step backward to h6 specializations.
We need to address the specializations.

Yes Avonu i don't demand to know about specializations. by asking it means that someone cares for that and that this issue will be noticed/reminded to the devs before it's too late and we end up with mere portraits instead of heroes.
Am i that paranoid to bring that up?

This is not a dating simulator. If you want to read fanfics I'm sure there are sites for that.

On the Gremlins...could we please keep them as neutrals? Maybe get them a mini dungeon, a goblin workshop on the battlemap Kings Bounty style or simply like the H3 crypt/hive/utopia. It should be doable since you promised us more customizable battlemaps.  That way they won't be completely retconned only not associated with wizards.
Maybe even add a bigger gremlin with a gattling gun as a miniboss next to the gremlin sharpshooter and the ball&chain gremlin. They WERE the first creature in ashan to use guns so it wouldn't break lore.

This kills any strategies with sacrificial stacks, I think ... unless the (chance of) morale reduction is tied to original stack size.

I guess this is a downside to having only three tiers, with multiple creatures per tier. Having a dwelling for each creature separately would be a (welcome) increase in Adventure Map objects. Besides, it could allow people to heavily focus on a specific creature on the maps they make. Or can those external dwellings be restricted when making a map, to exclude one or more of the standard creatures produced there?

Unlikely, as Marzhin already pointed out there are copyright issues with the way Gremlins were portrayed in H5. They look too much like the Gremlins from the movies.

I dont mean fuctions to persue relationships, im talking about lore and story. There is hetrosexual love in all heroes games, more or less. And im not talking about H7 in perticular, but Ashan as a world. For the record, im not homosexual myself, not that it should matter.

Not a problem. Give them the H3 look back. Blue(or any other desert themed color) elvish little buggers instead of the hairy wrinkled kind. Problem solved. They could be spirits summoned from santas workshop from the north pole or whatever. Who cares. A reasoning is as easy to find as water in the sea.

Yeah, I don't like this. Less adventure object, and a balancing issue (I'm thinking about the strength of guards). One of those "lazy" ideas which unfortunately became regular...

It's nice to hear about Lizardmen, I hope we will eventually see a "Swamp" faction. Though I highly doubt that we will get it in this entry, cus with the hypothetical expansion pack, we will probably get factions which didn't win the votings...

Since this was a prequell anyway, it was unlikely to begin with. Maybes in HVIII.

I also have a question to Marzhin, I hope he isn't overwhelmed by our community

In yesterday's stream, when talking about Magic Guilds, Xavier said: "There are 4 levels of Magic Guild [...] first level spells can be learn by any hero [...] and you can find level 5 spells in Magic Guild level 4". Isn't that some kind of contradiction, or did he just mistakenly said level 5 spells? (I imagine you'll answer this on a blog update, eventually, but I'm curious).

This. I want 5 magic levels back, with faction restriction to higher levels like in Heroes 3.

Not neceseraly, it kinda depends on what lvl spells you can learn with what ability. Suppose you can learn lvl 2-3 spells with Basic X Magic, then lvl 2 Mage Guilds have lvl 2-3 spells. They said it was linked to the Skill.

We need to address the specializations.

I can "not care" simply because I have an opinion. I dislike the fact tha each hero must have an interesting special simply due to the fact, that such an ability drives the focus away from the character itself. Did anybody actually like Gule for his character? Or for his ability to make sharpshooters? (fact I hate that character). Did H2 or H4 need any special abilities to create unique and memorable characters? The reason I don't care, is because I won't care in the game as well. I will chose the hero I like as a character and adjust my strategy to him. not the other way around.

I've checked it again and this is what he literally says:

"You have level 1 spells that anybody can acquire, for level 2 you need to have the basic skill, and the magic guild that give you those spells are level 2. And you have up to spells level 5 that you can find in Magic GUilds level 4"

I find weird that a Magic Guild level would have spells from two different levels. Not intuitive...
