Hi everyone. Some time ago I showed you guys how I thought a Gnoll might look for an eventual Swamp faction in Ashan. The community is awesome and gave me much needed feedback, for that I thank you. Recently I had another idea, regarding town screens, that I would like to share with you. I've heard the 2D vs 3D town screens argument and I tried to come up with a solution: Parallax. It needs to be polished as a final render but I'm only interested in the concept for now.

I realy like it. The 2,5D looks well done. If only the camera movements weren't so jerky.

So what do you gain from such a feature? I don't see the point. 2D is just solid and focuses on utility and not eye candy.

That immersion worth of 3 centimeters to the right and other 3 to the left? Please excuse me if I don't buy that idea of immersion.

You'd have to have at least a 90 degree rotatable angle just to be able to see another side of a building. By which moment you'll have to implement 3D buildings or at the very minimum 2.5D. And the gain from that, like Xavier said in the live Twitch, is minimum. You'll look at the town few times till you get over it and you'll never ever rotate the viewpoint again. Money poorly spent on eye candy rather than utility.

Nah, 2D is more efficient.

I like it, it is in between and would feel good. I suppose the slight movement of the graphic would be when you move your mouse to the edge of the screen...

This is an idea, if rotation is done nice, 2.5D can work just as well as 2D or 3D. I'm all for 2D but with a little imagination this could do real nice, imo.

thanks for the feedback guys.
I agree on camera motion being fast and twitchy. For the sake of rendering time I settled for a fast 10 seconds than a slow 40. But again it's not a "final product" just an idea we could discuss. Again thank you

I'm getting a weird sensation of vertigo as well. Not to discredit the creator, but I doubt this is the way to go.

No offence to the devs, but... why the heck do we need to know what the community managers are reading in their personal time? Can't we stick on, y'know, the game being developed?

Cause it's interview with living guys, not, how to say, "official one", those are usually called Q&A.
And community should know its heroes!!!
