good decision if you ask me. Please, no more female Centaurs too.. or sisters, or glories or "seraphettes". Let's stick to Heroes 5-vibe Haven.
Rakshasas hasn't come out yet. I'm worried they'll feminize one of the coolest creature in the game.

If it's all green again I...
And Stronghold, which is likely gonna be very brown. Plus Sylvan could be very green as well, just as Fortress might be very red or grey. Plus there's gonna be a sixth faction, so we might get another Dungeon in 50 shades of purple.

According to a really positive preview on gamestar.de the second faction vote will be between Dungeon and Inferno.

I hope that won't be the case. But we'll just have to see in a month. And even then, we can root for Dungeon.

a better match up would have been
Sylvan vs Dungeon - Sylvan wins
Fortress vs Sanctuary - Fortress wins
I really want both the Elves and the Dwarves in the base game.

Further information from the GameStar preview:
- they only have money for 6 factions
- the two loosing faction won't come as dlc
- townscreens confirmed, every building will be shown
- 7 ressources (the new ressources won't be named sulfur, gems and quicksilver because those don't fit Ashan)
- you won't be able to change a town to another faction after you conquered it (no town conversion)
- no global growth
- caravans are back
- warmachines are back (ballista, first aid tent and catapult are mentioned)
- 7 nonlinear campaigns with 4-6 maps each
- you can do the last campaign of the game whenever you will, but this will result in an increased difficulty because you missed things from the other campaigns
- the skillsystem is a skillwheel as in H5
- you have to choose which of the two champion creatures you want to build (similar to H4)
- the current interface is a prototype and not final
- there will be more objects (especially obstacles) on the battlefield
- the game uses the Unreal Engine 3
- an editor will be shipped with the game
Edit: I edited my post with additional facts.

I was hoping for Sanctuary, I guess I would have to support Dungeon then. Though now I hope Fortress will win this round (unlikely), otherwise too many Elves!

Aside from the first two points, this is all great news!
Assuming these points are legit.

Interesting, other tidbits of information from this article:
- Town conversion is gone (yay!)
- Marketplace is back (hmm?)
- Caravans are no longer re-directed when a town is captured (if my German does not fool me)
- First Aid Tent, Catapult and Ballista are back
- Certain map object like bridges will be "interactive" in the sense that you can destroy and rebuild them (might be campaign only)
- Town screens are 2D

just give me a male main campaign hero for Academy and Sylvan and I'm happy; especially Academy. The only other magic hero is female. We need a male magic hero.
Also, no dlc but will it be in an expansion? Will we have more factions in future expansions?

Might we hope that loosing factions will come as expansions, perhaps stand-alone ones? There is a lot of hate for DLCs.
The rest is simply wonderful news!!

choosing from one of two champion creatures. Is that like, we'll choose what will be in the game or are they both in the game and we'll choose what will fit our lineup best?

Both will be in the game and you have to choose which one you you want to build, similiar to Heroes 4.

It comes across like the latter: They're both in game, but you choose to build only one of the two, H4 style. There is no mention of being able to / not being able to tear down building in own/conquered towns to re-decide.

No expansions or factions in expansions??
