i mean i love Tyris and all and it's a nice touch but she doesn't make me want to buy the game any more

I never liked Ashan visuals, I think they look pale in comparison of NWC's style. Now we see beloved heroes from the past getting a lifting in order to fit Ashan. Personally, I find them ugly now, since they are adapted to an environment I dislike. On a symbolic point of view, I find this transformation extremely violent and disrespectful.
Anyway, don't you find it a bit sad, that Ubisoft seems to be so desperate in order to please its fan base that they feel the need to bring back old stuff, because the new one doesn't work? Cannot they just accept they are on the wrong path already, ten years of raging isn’t enough to make them understand? Apparently not, we probably injured their egos and as an answer to our complains we are labeled as unpleasable brats. Make a good setting and offer us some visuals that are not clashing with the ones we were used too and we won’t complain so vehemently. Is it really that hard to get?
But it seems that questioning art direction and story-telling is out of the question, we are not able to understand how awesome Ashan really is apparently.
What I think, is that as long as they keep trying to please fans of Blizzard, they will get complains from fans of NWC. And I see it as perfectly legitimate.

The photoshop heroes from 1999 have more "life" to them than these recent ones, but that's freelance work for you I guess.
That, and the lack of backgrounds.

why don't you think it's wrong? more power to you if you enjoy them, but I don't believe any of us asked for these Ashan clone heroes, they're not the same characters as before, just these weird, hollow, copy paste ghosts of them lol
although I don't have anything against the idea really, like MattII said, the way they do it feels like a cynical cart before the horse kind of ploy to get fans on side, and like Galaad said, it shows nothing is sacred, that anything can and will be warped to suit the fan fiction that is Ashan

If bringing back beloved heroes back (because they have been asked to, in almost every Q&A by fans) is "violent and disrespectful", then there is not much left to say ^^ Just have to realize the fan base is veeeery divided, and live with the fact.

I believe what has been TRULY asked to is to scrap Ashan, drop 3D, give us decent lore and visuals, flexible setting so things don't keep too linear, evolve a working formula without completely change or redo same mechanics, aetcetera.
But it has never been a secret of any kind Ubisoft favors money over passion. How many "lack of life" comments have I seen already regarding Ubisoft's work, this is very much accurate.
What I want to say here is, don't be surprised if some people are not pleased with Ubi-Heroes. If a company decides to ignore us, they will be the ones having to live with constant negative feedback.

lol but that's not true at all, in fact fans outright told the writer that it is considered disrespectful in one of the earliest Q&As with Ubisoft lol

I don't think these are quite the heroes everyone was wanting, I think they were more after Sandro, Crag Hack, Gem, Yog and maybe Luna (the mostly forgotten hero who nevertheless appeared in all NWC games). Anyway, after the screw-up that was H6, I think many fans have backed away from wanting any part of the original series to be a part of the train-wreck.

From H1 to H6 I haven't finished a single campaign, and I have a hunch it will be the case in H7 aswell.
If they wouldn't include campaigns, I would never buy it. I don't play multiplayer in any form, so for me it's the campaigns and maps vs. the AI. Without the campaigns, that's a major chunk of the reason I'd play the game in the first place gone.
That said, I played through Heroes 6 (vanilla) only twice, and 50SoP only once and I can't be arsed to play it again. Yet, I've lost count of how often I've played through the Heroes3 campaigns in the vanilla game or in any of the expansions.

I kind of agree here, we can't both ask them to bring back the old games and then at the same time trash them for bringing old game elements into the new environment. For better or worse, this is what people have asked them to do, so I find it hard to fault them for doing that.

I don't know who asked them that, but certainly not me. I limited bashing on their blog because I sense the good will, but to me it resulted in a total failure. Ashan is still not appreciated, and I personally don't get how Ashanifying things from the past would do any good. Not to mention how little the impact of bringing a few heroes back can have on the game in the larger scale.

Meh, since you showed that there is nothing that you can appreciate if its made by UBI or in Ashan universe I don't think your opinion is relevant at all.

As a long time fan of the franchise I care about Heroes of Might and Magic and I believe I have a right to criticize what I find to be dubious. If you want to argue with me, I would appreciate it if you could come up with counter arguments like some other people already did, because I believe this is how a civilized discussion can evolve. You know, I haven't seen one person complaining about the Ashan versions of Sandro and Crag Hack. Quite on the contrary, actually. Or about the cameos in MMX. Or about Marzhin getting Darkstorm and who knows what other hero in Heroes 7. I agree that these are not answering some other core issues with Ashan or even gameplay, but are they really that unwelcome? I beg to differ.
