they combined haste and slow into one spell: time control.

I like the new effect of implosion. Don't like so much that it is now an expert spell. On top of that time stasis looks rather underwhelming for a master spell.

Wtf!? There's no Animate Dead? It wasn't in neither earth, dark or prime. Also is there any resurrection spell? Maybe they combined them

I must say, the fact that "Heal", be it from the spell or the Vestals in H6, could damage Demons, Inferno or Undead is something I quite enjoy. Light vs "the Dark" aka unholy beings if you will. One can decide to sacrifice a healing turn to damage the enemy instead of healing one's own troops. Of course, against large armies this won't really work, since the amount of deaths just won't tip the balance at that point.

I like Fire Magic as it is presented to us here. The icons need some work, the H6 ones were more appealing to me than the ones we see here. This goes especially for Fire Bolt/Ball/Wall and Armageddon. Compare them to H6's icons:

Firebolt, Fireball, Firestorm

Inferno, Armageddon.

And here's what I have to say about Fire Magic.

On to Prime, then. Haven't written down my thoughts about that yet.

Instant reinforcements: this was in H5, but I don't like this feature.  Park the hero next to a mana well, no strategy needed.  Troop transport should be part of strategy that has to be planned.  And there are caravans and forts ... such a spell could fit as an expert summoning spell (for wizards and demons),  but at novice level ...?

Time control: that's initiative, not speed.  And, no mass haste/slow (just area effect).  Good move.

That's why it's better if the spell also reduces x% of the hero's movement points instead of just his/her mana.

Honestly about 70% of spells icons look worse than in HVI which is shocking, and I don't understand why they changed spells icons from the alpha stage of the game development:



Now it doesn't look like spells icons more like skills icons, it's a spellbook it should be more majestic, now it looks like some iPhone interface

Well, it allows for free summoning of your fresh troops on day one...

I guess it depends on the bonus in mana regeneration. If having this skill means you will effectively recharge all your mana every day it would be quite nice right?

I don't know how expensive high tier magic is going to be but chances are it will be useless in certain maps. I dislike ability effects that depend on map properties like mana locations/artifacts or amount of gold/resources.

I do not see the fortes of the magic system, nor can I bring myself to like it for any other reason. It seems to me that it will end up being one of the major downsides of the game.

Actually Shadow of Dread is Dark Magic GM ability and its description is from Regeneration ability.

The real Prime Magic GM ability is New Moon - "Summons Bella and Edward".

Magic heroes can't learn Warcries Master level (or skill at all?)  and Might heroes can't learn Magic Schools Master level.
