My vote went to Sylvan. Not that I dislike Fortress, but I'd rather see them in an expansion.

I don't like any of them, but I voted Fortress because it's the lesser evil for me. Race-based Tolkien/Warcraft/Warhammer clones puts me of the game. An elven faction is especially prone to repeating stereotypes and making the lore predictable and repetitive.

Very different Dwarves you got there, could tell'em apart by beard alone.
I agree the poll was unfair, after scouring the comments many people vote based on a couple things.
1. Sylvan is a core race, been in longer, should stay.
2. Fortress will be an expansion anyways.
Would be terrible to get another double-line up of Elves >< A lot of people are also voting because they liked Sylvan in Heroes 5 and their units, so if Sylvan is created for Heroes 7 those people may cry for having the exact same units.

Seven days of spreading the word to all the dwarven communities i can find, got Fortress 1% more lol. Its like on the first 1-2 days the majority of people voted Sylvan and left. They wanted it to be like politics and people discuss it but most people vote and leave =\ this has been my absolute time waster since it started lol

I would have voted Fortress for the better novelty of it, except I don't trust them to do a good job at it, so I voted Sylvan since it's a safe bet that Sylvan will be good. From the looks of it, it's definitely going to be Sylvan either way because it's leading by a vast margin.
If Fortress had an array of mountainous and/or fiery monsters and creatures to compliment 2 dwarf units, I would have loved it, but I don't expect that to happen. They would have copy/pasted Forgotten Realms more likely than not.
This is coming from somebody that favors theme over race.

Fortress 'was' a great team, people are just so enamored by the idea that dwarves are totally generic that they cant tell whats generic apart from whats not. They have individual units more original than the entire Sylvan faction.
Contrary to stereotypes, Dwarves are not the all same. Hell, even elves arnt always the same and SOMETIMES they arnt extremely boring and hate worthy. Nothing is wrong with 6-7 Dwarf units, they fit the lore, it creates over-all faction diversity, and they have the roles covered. Let the necromancers send their drones, let dungeon dominate its slave races, let academy cower behind its toys, let the elves hide in their forests and let stronghold unite every species it can, because Haven and Fortress will fight it with their own blood and sweat and strength and bravery.
I root for Haven when its a human empire in a fantasy world, standing against all kinds of monsters and horrors, and for your part you can BE those monsters and horrors, and let me be the wall of shields and tide of axes.

Well, tbh I expected less percentage for Fortress but as far I can see, some people here just sympathize to the underdogs so maybe that's the reason for the high percentage.

Why would it be pre-determined? Of course Elves/classic nature faction have 2:1 ratio to an expansion faction not present in older Heroes games, did anyone expect otherwise?

Maybe because we have Sylvan vs Fortress poll right now and not "Choose 1 of 5 Ashan's other factions and we will put in game 2 with the most votes" poll?
Oh, and remind me, didn't Ubisoft sent poll about "What factions would you see in game" or something lke that some time ago? So they would have know the general votes and could prepare "right" polls?

Indeed, my guess is some people vote forteress just because they're a lot like haven and undead, the two most popular races. They re sturdy and slow and turtle. Not because a line up of 7 dwarves in H5 impressed them with originality, that's for sure.

Speaking of originality, elven archers, elven druids, unicorns and treants. Even the 'green' dragon isnt original (Age of Wonders 2 had fairy dragon for elves, warlords battlecry had similar dragon unit for elf).
I've begun to suspect that when people say "originality" its some new definition that cannot be explained, because that line up was actually VERY original in terms of units.
