sylvan all the way! can you imagine thinking "what if the elves were here" like we did in heroes 6? no sir! elves elves elves!
dwarves are kinda "new" and "fun to play with" etc but we all love the elves. they have a long history to be ignored again. and if they win this poll the next faction we will have will surely be inferno.
but we gotta wonder though, since when inferno and sylvan (the oldest factions) became "secondary factions" for the people to vote?
was stronghold that good it became a de faction(pun intended)? did i miss that?

Next poll will probably be Dungeon vs. Inferno, and I am not too sure that Inferno will win that as I think that there are many Dungeon fans(more than Inferno) and even if people aren't the fans of Dungeon they usually dislike Inferno and will vote Dungeon just for the sake of Demons not being in the game.

if the elves win,i don't think people will want to see elves again even if they are purple. inferno for diversity. it's funny how sylvan and dungeon are like counterparts and if we stretch it a little, the same can be said about foretress and inferno having a fire based faction and all. still i will ask again how inferno and sylvan ended up "up for vote" yet stronghold made the cut!!

They are not secondary factions, it's just that they cannot come up with completely new factions anymore as the Ashan setting is limited that way so they are giving a twist to just switching around the same factions.
Stronghold became a default faction most likely due to its different gameplay, I am fine with that and I'm still hoping Inferno sits this one out.

well if this game goes well we will have expansions. so all 9 races will see the face of light, but safeguarding stronghold instead of sylvan in my opinion is not that great.
for me a heroes game without inferno (the chance to be the bad guy at least once) is unthikable. stronghold didn't have that unique gameplay since they promoted strenght so it was all about attack. i am bitter that stronghold is now a "sure" faction but the new game is coming in a year so YAY!!!!

But Barbarian/Stronghold is one of the default 4 factions of Heroes that was only missing from the original H5, so not sure why is it controversial that they chose Stronghold over Inferno this time, when Inferno was not in H1-2 and was merged with Necropolis in H4, so if you want to go there then Inferno, Fortress and Sanctuary are the "lesser" factions because they have the least amount of history.
To me Inferno is always the worst faction whenever it is in a Heroes game...

you are right about it not being in heroes II, yet inferno embodies evil and a game without someone evil to fight or even play with, is not interesting. gray characters and factions are awesome and it adds to the debth of the story,but still inferno, to ashan at least, is a core faction. can you imagine ashan without the demons?

Yes I can, at least for one game. It doesn't have to be all about everyone vs demons, that IS tiring. I wonder if H7 will be just that after we get the finalized factions...

I'm very sure Dungeon will beat Inferno, based on all the comments of people who dont understand how a poll works. So yes, once again they'll be double dipping that easy elven love for the masses, could be worse, they could introduce the High Elves in an expansion or something. 50 shades of elf u.u

Inferno in H6 (FOR ME) was the funniest faction to play! No healing! No turtling...
Howether dungeon in H5 was funniest too! Creature Growth ridiculous! Destructive magic incredible!
So it's a hard choice between those 2 factions!
But i think the better choice would be Inferno If the elves wins the first poll, just for the diversity in term of creatures.
And like people said above "No Demon in Ashan" is weird!

My guess is that people doesn't like inferno cuz they can gate units right next to their shooters. Fighting against an inferno is always tricky.

The dislike of Inferno, as far as I can see on this forum, has more to do with story(telling) and lore, rather then gameplay and Inferno being hard/tricky to beat.
Inferno is essentially written to be a one-trick-pony. And this pony has been brought to the stage three or more times already and we've seen it trick by now and we're getting sick of the same routine over and over again.

and the last expansion will feature 2 factions: Ice Elves and Night Elves.
