Oh, I'm loving this so much... Where are the gajillion angry HoMM fans who screamed that Ubi is spending too much time and money on graphics and they should revert to 2D now? I mean, there was no end to them when H5 and H6 were announced and their screenshots posted.

I don't think ugly is the right word to use, because it looks good - but I agree battlefield could take up a bit more of the screen, and creatures do look very small. I mean, the Djinn in the top of the second screenshot, it's practically impossible to make out what that is other than some blue blop.

It's true that unit models could be bigger in battle combat - just like hero model is bigger in the adv. map this time, to make them more 'iconic'. After all, a single stack can represent as thousands of the same creature! You bring a fair point here.

That's the nicer way of saying "Developers, please, work on this stuff, because it's terribad"

God Heroes 5 tote made me happy... The truth is reveal i am not a real fan

Shame on me!

We can discuss graphics for sure, but using  the word UGLY and opening a thread with this title "graphics..... are AWFUL"....
What is the point?

That does not even tempt me to discuss

Gameplay. GAMEPLAY!!!

Apparently some people think graphics from an alpha build are more important than gameplay

sorry have to add there, it makes no sense to qualify these as "alpha graphics", because the graphics of both Heroes 6 and MMX literally did not change one bit from their announcement to release

all of these assets are beyond their final production pass and I can almost guarantee you they will be in the game

I personally don't care much about the graphics, though I disliked the style of H6 and this is not that much different

I wrote about it in Discussions:

"Looks promising. There is only one major thing I do not like and that is the size of units in combat. Why do they create all those detailed creature models and than make them look so tiny in normal combat view I still cannot grasp. Same thing was in H6 and, partly, in H5. Combat view should be closer to H3 or H2: more down to earth, not so far away/isometric. But, I doubt that it is going to change.

Other things have a lot of potential. "

Some other things:
- back to more resources is good, but it is far more important to fill the map with objects everywhere and give the player something to do. (Also, make those resources/map objects stand out on the map. Do not make them of the same graphic type.) Those relatively plain maps of H5 and H6 were dull.
- in my opinion, the best idea for a spell system is to introduce an ability to buy spells in the town, either per spell or per spell category, but it should not prerequisite a building (or upgrade to it, like Mage Guilds). That way you could introduce an interesting choice for the player, spells or units. Also, every town will not offer all of the spells but approx. a third or less of them. That way the player will be lead through different paths. It would be difficult to balance, but it is impossible to balance Heroes. The best way is to introduce extremes and cancel them out (like in H3. You got Sword of Judgement? I found a Griffin Con with 4 Angels etc.). Complete fine-tuning leads to boring skills, artifacts etc. (compare Helm of Heavenly Enlightment with artifacts from H5 e.g.)
- Creature system was never really a problem in Heroes. I.e. H3 and H4 both worked fine being completely different. I would have 7 units and one upgrade per unit with a choice in the Champion category among two possibilities.
- Skills should be random, and I cannot emphasize this enough. It adds depth and the unexpected element. Skill wheel is a good system, but it needs to be balanced really well. If they cannot pull it out, just stick with H3 and make the skills count or introduce synergies among them. It worked just fine.

I really hope you have watched the whole video:
Heroes 7 gameplay

The graphics seem absolutely amazing. Even though the game is far, far, far from finished.

Just like Rainalcar my only problem is, like in H6, the units are very tiny and all those details go to waste.

The bigger the battlefield you want to have, it makes sense that the units would have to be correspondingly smaller.

I like the idea of different BG's, but its true that the screen is full of objects outside the actual battleground. We dont need them.

And bring back the Heroes 3 battlefield net! Not squares!

that's just a horribly retarded change. maybe they're like politicians, and are trying to see how bad they can make things, to see what they can get away with. that's what i see more and more of, everywhere, anyway.

why not H4 battlefield? I thought it was a big improvement.

graphics don't seem up to date with modern graphics, but I hardly play modern games, so it's not very important
the style seem pretty nice, though it's less colorful than previous games.

I don't think the graphics look bad, certainly not awful, in fact I think they look rather pretty. But in this screenshot, there is something that bothers me:

http://www.tawerna.biz/pages/gallery/gallery/walka1.jpg

I feel like the blue tiles on the floor makes the whole scene a bit straining for the eyes to look at, if that makes sense. It's distracting. I think it would be better to look at if the blue tiles had a more neutral color.

PS, this is my first post in Heroes Community, hi.

Firstly, sure, it's an alpha build, being an Ubi insider you know the exact version of the game.

What? I'm no Ubi insider lol

Battlefields should definitely be smaller in order we could enjoy all the details of those nasty creatures Also, hexagonal grid looks more natural, don't you think?
