Oh my god... It gave me the chills and made a smile on my face. I must install H5 and play it. NOW!
P.S: Even Ashan Necro looked good here. Awh, the nostalgia. And even the warhammer copied art style looks much better then this new High Fantasy/Real life imitation. Everything must look so realistic nowadays. But I shut up.
@PandaTar
Very nice pictures, good overall atmosphere. Again 2nd and 4th for Academy, 3rd for Stronghold, 1st one would look good for Dungeon, even if it's outside not in some cavern or Necro if the castle could be tweaked for an undead/skeleton faction

I'll be honest, I let myself be influenced a lot by visuals when deciding which town to use, when I started playing HV I fell in love with the townscreens especially the ones of the Academy, Haven, Necropolis and Inferno, for that reason I shied away from the other factions until the Fortress came along.
In fact, if the townscreens would be made in 3D I'd prefer something similar to HV towns, but since they will be made in 2D I prefer the Heroes III style then, the Heroes V one is too difficult to translate to a still image, mostly because they develop vertically instead of horizontally.

One thing (among many) I don't like about HVII TS is dull, unimaginative perspective of TS, even the same TS could look much better with different perspective, for example Academy TS, a flying city, I would like to show you to illustrations of flying cities, don't look how the city looks or the aesthetics, the perspective I think it's really great (especially on the first one), this kind of TS would fill the whole screen and the player would feel like he actually is in the town, it would look amazing even in 2D, but I guess the guy who made the HVII TS lack imagination
PS: Panda could you resize pictures ?

They are just lazy and stingy and that's the excuse they came up with

SQUEE!
Still, a bit glad to share some beautiful images, even if just to have a glimpse of them and return to a deadpan stare at the opposite wall.

But Ubilimbic needs townscreens, where every building is visible and accessible, because you will click on every building everytime you visit a town *sarcasm included*. This is why it has perspective as it has....
Ubilimbic puts restraints everywhere, even in their unimaginative townscreens.
For me, it is unbelievable how closed-minded and ignorant they are... :-(

Academy is pretty much doomed to what we have or what is in that first picture regarding perspectives since you do need to see the buildings. But (ie) Dungeon and Sylvan could have a "looking from below" perspective which would make them look amazing since their designs allow it.
Im not going to say that there is a lack of creativity per se since given how the towns follow a patern, it seems like their intention was to streamline the process. But yeah, the result is not very "wow"

Those floating towns are stunning! Every time I visit deviantart I realise how unprofessional is H7 development. Townscreens are just trash. I can't see the reason of it because there are thousands of people, even 'amateurs' with amazing skills able to create decent TS.
You guys made me feel bad, Galaadle and Minastir T_T. I hope they will suffer after what they did with TS.

Gorgeous.
Reminds me the times where I used to relax staring at beautiful townscreens and looking through each detail as a reward after I successfully captured an unknown Town.
What you keep showing here Panda, is the kind of aesthetic quality I would love to expect from a Heroes game nowadays.

Maybe they should get inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic Online Townscreens (Do not mistake with Might & Magic Heroes Online!)
Or If they like to reuse stuff from previous games, why not reuse HV TS ? just as 2D TS, wouldn't be really easy to implement it in the game ?

@Galaad
You are also aware that I'm also getting inspired, right?
@Avirosb
What about this one?
Underground scenery.
I prefer farer pictures, mostly to show the magnitude of your kingdom and also to make it easier to integrate wilder units into the faction layout, so you don't actually have to move them into a town, you see. But that's only my point of view and preference. I don't mind a closer look.
Other three sceneries:
First.
Second.
Third.

Wow, these reworked h5 townscreens that minastir posted look really nice, if they added a few details to the buildings it would look better than what we have now imo..

Why are all the town screens so zoomed out? It feels like I'm looking at the town from really far away, which is bad for immersion.

Yes, that for me is quite simply the example of a perfect townscreen. I mean, look at it in full HR quality and behold its stunning beauty ... that for me is a 100/100!
The H5 ones looks gorgeous even this day and as 2D, but obviously suffer from the problem that some things are hidden on the backside of the town and thus can't be seen properly.

Eh, I feel it's too uniform in color, the view is obstructed by pillars and then there's the pit.
Then again it's labeled 'scenery' and not 'fantasy town'.
Do like the "guardian of earth"-like statue though, would work well as a grail building.

Was that ever really much of a problem pre H4?
The more "natural" dwellings were usually put in the background,
like those damned town walls should.
