Now, there's two reasons why this thread was created. (in my mind anyhow)
First, you were either bored or wanted to make yourself known et cetera so you picked a topic that you thought might get attention, and since you're a lurker I assume that your attune enough to know what peeps have strong feelings about. (gender roles being the hot topic of August)
Oooor second, you have strong feelings about the topic yourself, but you don't like being challenged, thus you raise an issue close to your heart without being in the line of fire.

Anyway, the point is that you have to give us something, some line of argument, but cause I'm kind, so I'll give you my 2 cents.
Now while it is undoubtable that in our long history there have been women participants in combat, whether it is due to an ideology such as in Soviet Russia and among the amazons, or out of need for extra "man"- power on raids, the question remains, whether females are a reliable and efficient source of soldiers. Personally, I believe that an average man can be trained into a combat ready soldier faster and more efficiently than you could a woman, but battles and wars aren't decided by how many more men one side trains than the other, considering human beings as nothing more than mean statistics is why WW1 was such a meaningless blood-bath.
So while I think that men on average could be trained to combat-ready status faster and cheaper, modern armies are becoming smaller and more professional, and women have a very important place in that. Not for retarded "equality", but I think that they have the means to make a difference on merit, and natural feminine qualities have a place on the battlefield, and the aftermath.

It's a matter of how strong you are relative to the victim. Men are at the top of the food chain in the general public. Mother's abuse children more often than men do (albeit there are more active mothers than there are active fathers) because in that situation, a woman is still physically superior to a girl or boy. The confidence of physical superiority makes a huge difference; suddenly she feels comfortable to exert herself, where with an adult man she would instead cowl away.
You could theoretically subdue people with a little bit of planning even if you're weak, but most acts of abuse are ones that are committed spontaneously. That's why physicality means so much. It makes the difference in those instances of rage between striking the person or quietly stewing and doing it (and much worse) in your imagination instead. Even with rapists, although you have that small circle of guys that just do it on a serial basis with long-term planning involved, most of the times it happens when something bad has happened in his life and all of the sudden he's looking for a fix. Less than 24 hours later, he's raping a woman, as much (if not more) for the elating rush of sadistic pleasure from having such terrible power over another human being, as for the sexual gratification itself. The sex drive becomes a vessel for another desire that is even more potent.

I was referring to physical abuse in general, not necessarily sexual. Gratifying malice via sexual means is primarily a male issue.
The situation with mothers is complicated; mothers that abuse their children are the same ones that might just as readily die before being separated from them. It's a strange relationship where they're devoted to their children, and yet at the same time, their deeply-rooted horrible habits that they've cultivated makes them destructive parents. It's a twisted social dynamic that usually involves the court having to peel the kid away.

I see no problem with women in the military.
if a person wishes to defend his/her country, let them do it. The problem, at least in mine ragdoll mary guard is lack of commodities for women, such as separate showers and lass only barracks. and male "officers" who have a fetish for men in undies. Who are such sore losers in fact that some girls are actually better than them, and blame that women come to the military to peek at men in their undies, trying to pin their little fantasies on women who want to play their part in defending our country from nonexistant threat from the Ivans.
These days on my facebook feed, pops out several photos of I believe Iraqi lasses, who had taken up arms against ISIS, which is very nice.
It's also rather interesting, and makes those extremist lunatics crap their pants, 'cause if they get popped by a lass, they appearantly won't ascend to heaven ad get their 72 virgins. which is not very nice to them.

Perfect. I'll add I have zero interest in female Conans but since Drones and other "distant-killing" occurs now and has since planes and cannons...why leave the ladies out of the shame. Maybe if War was allowed only by those face to face (go Vikings) we might see a light at the end of the tunnel.
