I mean, it's just your speculation vs mine, isn't it, so it makes no sense to assume everything's been for the best
considering everything from Planescape to Age of Wonders is back, the alternative scenario is not that far-fetched

My point is, if not Ubisoft, the series would still die, and only then revived with some Heroes 3 HD remake or something. The original popularity would be lost anyway. If not Ubi, we would not discuss the series new installment right now, would we?

So we have to be thankful for a mutilated revival ? Please.. Even Erwan was forced to admit H3 is the reference. If bugfree, H5 would have probably been close to perfect if the art direction and lore given from NWC was respected. Why on earth wouldn't Ubi consider it ? There was no need to rewrite everything..
You have to understand, Alex_Yakub, that when you love a game this much, you suffer seeing such alterations to it. Not that change is bad, changes from H2 to H3 were insanely good, H5 skillwheel was a good move, but drastic and radical changes like it happened in H6 (list would be too long) is purely outrageous.
I hope you understand better and we can close the debate about "fans going crazy"..

There was a time when people actually made their proposals about how would they like the game to be, but now they just criticize since H6 killed the mod.

I completely agree Heroes6 are bad. But that doesn't make Ashan bad. Ashan has potential. Heroes6 with four resources, creature pools, reused models and no mage guilds, even if set in Erathia, never had.

Actually, without Ubisoft we'd probably have more fan-mod work being done of H4.

Hmm, maybe someone will encourage JvC to start a Heroes based Kickstarter project? Ownership issues? Then make something like Mega Man guy did with Mighty no. 9.
Or maybe a 3DO-era Heroes V reactivation project? I'm sure some guys from the modding community would be willing to help him.
Now that would be awesome!

There are many talented modders out there, but the copyright issues makes a kickstarter project difficult (if not impossible). Look at the HotA team and what they did without being payed a single buck, if they were backed up by some cash, things would work smoothly. Sadly, HoMM rights are owned by ubisoft... sometimes I wonder if it would be better if the series officially died at H4 and then were later resurrected by some talented fans or the old crew on kickstarter.

Like I said: Mighty no. 9. The creator of Mega Man is working on this game, which is called it's spiritual successor. It's basically the same game only with different characters.
Why not make something like this and call it Heroes of Might and Mana or sth I think if Kickstarter was triggered, the project would earn a lot of money...

We would have never had Heroes 5, the best one in the franchise. Horrible idea. I am glad the series didn't die in H4. That would have left the series in such a disgrace!

if you ask me, some folks should start on a total conversion mod of H5, basically keeping the core of Nival's gameplay, but swapping Ubisoft's hideous, plagiariffic Warhammer factions and art direction, disastrous campaign story and unusable map editor with replacements in the style of NWC
that would probably result in the best Heroes game since H3
