And just because one freaking unfriendly guy hates it when people change up mythology monsters from his country doesn't like it, doesn't mean I have to change. You aren't my father or God.

I'll quote myself: "I do not hate what you wrote, I am simply against that." The correction about my own country's mythology was an example (I did mention Greek and Norse mythology as well, thus your argument proves nothing), I really do not wish to clean someone else's mess, nor I have time for such a thing.

You can be against it all you like, I still wish for them in the way I want them to be.

Hala/Ala was a mistake and i'll deleted the entire creature from my memory.

Mythology is a fun hobby for me, not my work.

I wouldn't say that mythology is your hobby, but creating new stuff, imagining something new is (I do not think anything negative with this).
Good night!

While I realise that emotions on both sides of the fence are somewhat high and I'm not involved in the debate at all, I do like to point out that your post in which you detailed them, you brought it as if they're the "real deal" (i.e., the way each creature occurs as the real mythological concept). Your post doesn't have a disclaimer stating that they are adaptations of mythology of the various human cultures on earth and that they're versions of creatures as you like them. That adds confusion right there for people who aren't as well-versed in earths various mythological stories.

I am Serbian, so if you need any help with translating I am here.

And I have to disappoint you about some of the "creatures" and their names. Zmaj and Ala means one the same, and that is simply a Dragon... Now, sure they are obviously different than usual Dragons but every Dragon you see today is Zmaj on Serbian(Ala is rarely used, but still has the same meaning).

Nice to see some of the Serbian mythology here. ;D

However, that is a wrong usage. Zmaj is the being I described in my post. I described Ala as well. The correct term for a Dragon would be Azdaja. Though, many people are using Zmaj and Ala instead of Azdaja when referring to a Dragon.

Yeah, pretty much. I did't make myself clear in my post, it is that most of the people today use Zmaj and Ala as Dragon, not that those means the same.

Again, if people don't search for them on websites, google, bing, whatever. They aren't really interested in the creatures enough to care. So I don't feel guilty.

The only thing I said that may have caused confusion is that I meantioned the mythology from which they sprang into the proposal.

I didn't viciously made things up to make you guys believe THESE are the true version. I give you guys MORE credit that that, that would be an insult, especially with google around the corner where you can find the true creatures anyway.

I already changed the two that were annoying people the most the Antaues and I removed the Hala.

All others are pretty close to their myth roots, Alicanto and Asag gained an ability they don't have in the myth, so take 10 minutes of time and search for them on wiki. Heck I even give you the pages.

Wiki on Alicanto

Wiki on Asag

But these two creatures (like many of the already IN myths like Medusa and Minotaur) can't be good for a game, they need some changes to fit in, but still have many things in common so they can use the name like their minotaur brothers and medusa sisters. So I added some interesting abilities so they could work.

The real story about the Asag as you can read have it mate with the mountains to create spawn, well that isn't possible in HOMM games for multiple reasons, also the alicanto lures greedy people into ravines, well that isn't possible in a homm game. But with the rest of the text you can do pretty interesting stuff like I did.

Enenra is a good-natured yokai, I used it as evil version, so added a possession ability to suit a evil nature.

Gaueko is said to be able to take multiple forms, it doesn't mention a dragon-form, but I think that would suit it, as being king of the night. (an innocent change, as I even mentioned a hound-form which DOES stand correct at the myth)

The Obambo and Brollachan have SO MANY versions spread around internet, that I just took the best parts I could find about the creatures and merged them into a creature I would like to see in HOMM games.

Some other changes are so minor, I don't even mention them, just search on wiki yourself as i'm not a mythology teacher, I just want people to realise there are more creatures than just minotaurs and medusa's and hydras in the world out there. Go sit a day if you want to make a proposal for a HOMM-world you made yourself and search on sites like this one to find much more interesting critters from the world. And yes, some of those descriptions may be wrong, and some of them are maybe written down wrong  in there, whatever, the world isn't ending.

If the world would end because A mythological monsters is pictured wrong, then it would have exploded like in the end of a Japanese movie already because FINAL FANTASY is the king of destroying myth monsters.

Good thread, the possibilities are countless. But I really hope to see the phoenix back (and its upgrade) as an ultimate summoning spell and maybe as a neutral too.

What tier do you guys think the Griffin will be in?
They could be core to replace the Diredog (which seems to have similar abilities), but I cannot see the Griffin as core material.
They could be elite, which would be in accordance with their strength in the previous two instalments. However, I don't really see which unit they could replace in the elite tier. Except maybe Justicars, but I like those.
They could also be champion, just like in CoH. As champion the Griffin could provide a good alternative to the Landsknecht (Wolf duchy) and the possibly impartial Seraphs. However, in the previous heroes games the Griffin has never been this powerful.

Griffins should be Elite. In the campaigns, I could see them being either a choice for another Elite in the default lineup, or as an addition (allowing the player to choose from 4 instead of 3 Elites).

That is very nice for you. And only shows that you are a sheep that likes what most people like. You probably play soccer too.

Anywayz being less a snow could help to not get such responds. Just a hint.

Tryhard? Well replacing the pokemon elementals (How old are you? 12?) with more original things isn't that hard baby. So just create more fantasy ok? It isn't that hard.

Now let's switch the topic from "What of your favorite myth you would like to see" to "What is the right approach to neutral creatures growth and their actual use."
Let's face it, in most cases, neutrals have been in the game just to give us a slightly bigger variety of things we kill. Very rarely have these creatures been used as actual "optional substitutes" on a game. And even if, these were usually scripted campaign maps. (one of Arantirs maps in H5 ToE, Veins final map in H6: 50-SoD.

So how would you people approach this topic?

H2 style? (Dwellings have a random number of units, but their growth is smaller then that of normal units, and random as well, units in the dwelling stack)
H3 style? Dwellings have only a week of a units production at one time, Growth is similar to the standard (not boosted) growth of similar units. Units do not stack in Dwellings)
H6 style? (Growth is similar to not boosted growth of standard creatures. No unit boost at the start but units stack.
A different approach?

Now that's a good question. Wasn't H4 and H5's approach more or less like 3, but with caravans? I thought that it was a satisfactory solution. Or am I forgetting something here?

In H4 the units stacked, similar to H6, only you didn't have the global recruitment.
I am a fan of units stacking in dwellings. That way, if you haven't got enough time/gold to recruit them you can do it later. Also, if for some reason the units weren't hired when a dwelling is captured, this can give a nice boost to the army of the invader. So you have to be careful what to hire and what not.

Totally agree.

H4 was so good at the little details.

I LOVE neutrals in a game, and thought it was one of the few things that was actually done well in Homm4.

If there isn't a mercenary faction then I'm all for including them as neutrals.  Some neutrals in general that I like: pirates, wild beasts, ghosts (remember when they were neutral?!), forgotten warriors, a unique dragon (i.e. fairie, rust, etc.), trolls, werewolves, and a wide range of summonable creatures:  unique elementals, will-o-wisps, djinns (if not in academy), fire phoenix, etc.
