I agree with Dave_J
even if neutral creature is not directly linked with a faction it can be related/associated with it.

also would be nice if neutrals will be related to terrain..

for example will be more likely to encounter Unicorns or Satyrs in lush forests rather than Pirates or Mermaids. and so on
Think every terrain must have it's neutral units other than just elementals

I was gonna open a thread about neutral dwellings, but this will do fine.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing sharshooters making a return, they were an epic unit, sorta like lotr rangers.

Naturally, elements having their own dwelling would be awesome as well. Potentially, if death knights don't make it, i guess them as well?

Either way, V and VI lacked in dwellings and it would be awesome if we get any tbh.

One thing is for certain here: If a unique creature isn't in the Sylvan line-up, it should end up as a neutral (except for the Blade Dancer/Emerald Warrior, perhaps those should stay within the faction)

If Unicorns aren't in, we can start saying that this is where those Pristine Unicorns start to appear and as such Unicorns aren't solely "Sylanna's" but are now also Elrath's territory.

Phoenixes should be neutral too.

Those deer, should they not be taken, might as well be part of it. We got the week of the sun deer, why not make the week functional?

And those Root Pythons... I've been rooting (heh) for them since the beginning, and i'd hate to see them never get implemented in any way.  if they aren't included in the town, make it so that they are wild "cousins" of the Treants, and that's why they aren't in. They just seem too unique to go to waste.

Same idea for the Pixie and Dryad. They may have their place within the faction, or they might not. If not, make them help populate the rest of the game, if not within a town.

now that Balance lost the vote for sylvan,
i'd say Phoenix must be included as neutral in Heroes 7

Every 'canon' unit that won't make into the faction line-ups I guess.

Dragons, Hydras, Griffins, Behemoths, Phoenixes, Unicorns you name it...

Elementals are a given, but if I see another map littered with them like in H6 I swear I'll gonna bomb Limbic's HQ...

It should have been more neutrals creatures that is my first point!

H6 = 6 elemantals + 2 wolves + 1 phoenix + 1 Mermaid + 1 shadow panther ( with the extension SOD)

So 11 in total.

But elementals as others says are too similar to many units (Ubi lazy) and wolves with his upgrade is boring.

H5 (tote)= 4 elemantals + 1 Wolf + 1 Phoenix + Deathknight + Manticore + Mummy

So 9 in total.

If you ask me i prefer this 9 creatures because there are not duplicated creatures.

But 9 in not enough for me.

Now take a look at the " king" Heroes 3

H3( with Armageddon's blade) = Azure dragon + Boar  + Crystal dragon + Diamond golem +Enchanter + Faerie dragon + Gold golem +Halfling +Mummy + Nomad + Peasant + Rogue + Rust dragon + Sharpshooter+ Troll.

Total 15 and no duplicated units, but lot of dragon i agree.

Heroes 4 (with TGS + WOW)=  17 Creatures!!!  check this if you want!

there are all differents.

I know most of you hate H4

For me H4 (or at least H3) is the way to go when it comes to neutrals creatures diversity and quantity.

Are you agree with that? (of course not you are fans)

For me, the only must-haves are all 6elementals (distinct from other creatures) and phoenixes. Other creatures should also should not be rejected ones from line-up votings. They do belong to those factions, they were just not chosen to be in the army.

Well, since they are making Griffins for the campaign, they could as well drop them as 'faction neutrals' for multiplayer games.

6 elementals, griffins and 2-4 more neutrals would be a nice number.

Something new and original please.

No more boring D&D elementals (hate those boring, bland things) and no more Death Knights, Phoenix and others of those overused, forever-returning monsters.

Come up with something original, new and refreshing (so no overused monsters from myths like Mermaids and CO)

In all seriousness, though, I'm pretty sure 6 elementals are a given. Griffin too, I think, what  with him being a camaign unit for Ivan. I would love to see mermaids again, and I really hope Ubi will not throw pheonix away. Shadow panthers would be nice too, unless Ubi plans to add them in Dungeon. Also, pirates would be awesome!

About the six probably confirmed elementals. It wouldn't hurt if they could be named differently or being some other "elemental spirits" than just well elementals. Im not hoping them being kobold, sylph, salamander and undine (the alchemical spirits of elements from medieval folklore), but it could be a beginning. Although something other than kobold for the earth elemental would be good.

About light and dark elementals. Well, we have glories and shadows might fit for the other. Phantasms/phantoms?

No duplicates you say? What would you call gold and diamond golems but duplicates (of stone and iron golem). And I dare say that those dragons are also duplicates, especially in a game already as littered with dragons as H3. The only original dragons are the fairy dragon as a spellcaster and the crystal dragon as a flightless dragon.
Nonetheless I do agree with your point that a rich variety of neutrals is good.

I totally agree with you. Giving the elementals names will give them more character and make them less generic.

As for the original question:

I'm with Galaad about the Mermaids.
I agree with War-overlord, concerning double creature showing up.
I would support RMZ's opinion for getting Dwarfs and Valkyries in.
Lastly, if Fate Spinners or similar do not make it into the Necro lineup, I'd like to see sth like them as neutrtals...
