Even though my preferred lineup won, I say no. Not only the polls are seemingly manipulated by the devs via the latest Unicorn vs Phoenix vs Blade Dancer example, I am sure for years certain fans will continue to lament the loss of their preferred lineup. I don't want any more of that, it's nice they give us some involvement but there are fans who don't respect that it's the devs who create the game by mostly their own vision.

That said I would be surprised if they completely abandoned the lineup poll idea for the 6th faction, especially if it's a faction that has been long criticized about its choice of units...

It's definitely about Sylvan poll, you used it in your argument - "Failed at keeping iconic creatures in line-up".

I think Limbic has done a great job with this open dev, giving the community an unique opportunity to improve the game. If you think it's a farce/not worth your time/useless/any other reason, then just don't take part. It's as simple as that.

And yes, I will take part in any vote I receive without complaint. As long as my voice matters I'll strive for the best I can get.

Lets make this simple. This thread asked me if I want to see more polls. I voted for no and explained that I prefer developers to pick the line-up because that way iconic creatures have a better chance to appear in the game judging from the past experiences.
You attacked me for explaining my choice.
I think you are just arguing for the sake of it but I guess there is no surprise there. Let me just remind you the Sylvan poll is over and the results are known. Maybe that will calm you down.
I didn't come to this thread to get bashed for giving an opinion so I'm ending the discussion here.

Now let's get something straight.
The whole Ubi manipulates the endresult argument is bull.
And no. Ubi won't stop with the polls because each and every time we get to vote the whole community gets in uproar and there is no better marketing than that.
Also if some kiddoes decide to tell all their friends to use their accounts to vote for something they know nothing about then all the better for Ubi.

And to all the people who are dissapointed, angry, depressed or whatever, let me remind you that this is how democracy works, so to expect anything else then an illusion of choice is naive beyond comprehension.

I need to indulge my feelings for a moment. I need to echo my disappointment. I feel like everything I have ever loved about Sylvan has been taken away.

Of course these are just my feelings. I am not masquerading them as anything else.

I am genuinely afraid that what could have been one of my favorite factions in H7 will now one be one of my least favorites. Of course I will try to keep an open mind once the finished product is out... but for now I am genuinely afraid.

I will really miss the units that will no longer be included. I really wanted the Emerald Warrior to be in. I absolutely loved the Root Snake. Of course I wanted the Unicorn or Phoenix. And in all honesty, I despise the deer.

The Fury line-up does not speak to me at all.
I am not saying that it can't speak to others.
I am not saying that Fury voters have ruined Sylvan.
I am not saying that Fury voters are not real fans.
I know that those kinds of statements can be infuriating and I'm not saying any of that. My intention is not to antagonize anyone. I only want to express my own feelings, my own personal disappointment. I was really looking forward to playing as Sylvan and now all I feel is deep disappointment.

sorry, but these are very poor arguments/directives to be honest, telling people to get out

they encourage inactivity, which may appeal to those who don't care,
but people who feel strongly that the votes make the game suffer are entitled to be proactive and try to change that

I personally end up not caring much because I don't trust that the game will be good, but after this kind of result, I have more faith that it would be best to let designers duke it out than have the community decide, even if the designers' preferences might also suck

All you guys who are saying NO are boring. I hadn't had this much fun reading all the rage since Nightterror went away.

Anyway... all we actually do is vote on flavortext. Gameplay hardly changes that much.

Aah, the good old nightterror times, really miss that

But on-topic also think like some people that the voting, atleast on line-ups, is bad for the community and a bad idea generally. I men the majority of the people is going to stay dissatisfied (55% in this case) and also when having something you want so close to becoming real and then being taken away (like for example unicorn) is much worse than just beeing presented something ready where you don't know  how close to realization your dreams where.

Your argument was "I don't want more polls because community failed". I, in response to that, said "If community failed, then get out of that community, or at the very least stop voting".

Or is it that far fetched for you? I'm not bashing on your opinion, I'm engaging your argument. If for any reason you think that the community shouldn't get to vote, then be that example for us. Because I find it odd for someone to say "We shouldn't vote because community fails" so that he then proceeds to do that exact same thing. That's weak preaching that no one wants to listen.

By being part of said vote?

You know, usually when people disagree like that, they boycott, as in not voting. Coming with this kind of mentality AFTER you've voted and your option lost, is not the same thing by a mile. That's just loser talk.

personally I actually did boycott the vote, because I thought strength and balance both had serious flaws
however if people voted but thought fury in particular was so awful that it couldn't possibly win, I don't blame them for opposing votes altogether now that it has been chosen

people may also have voted this time but since come to dislike the idea because of the drama and cheating that went on

I get that it's a bit absurd to vote whether or not to vote lol, but you can't say it's completely unreasonable

They assumed either outcome the moment they voted. So their attitude about the voting process now is inexcusable. If they really thought the vote was unfair/a charade/bla bla for whatever reason, they should've said "I think this vote is snow, therefore I boycott it by not taking part".

Again, I'm not saying that he's not right. I'm saying that if he's right, and he definitely thinks so, then he should make the next logical step and boycott. Complaining but still voting is like saying "This thing's broke, but I'll use it anyway". Of course you're assuming the conditions AND the outcome! Do you get me?

I myself had moments when I questioned the voting process and I decided for myself that I would make the best of what I get. If I ever consider that not voting is the best option for whatever reason, then I will do that precisely.

With a real vote you also have the option to vote blanco (i don't care) and to withhold your vote (i don't agree with this vote). This way it is possible to show your dissatisfaction. If enough people do so, the vote has to be abolished.
Boycotting the vote can only be harmful for your preferences and is therefore rediculous.

Yes i want a vote!

Because that keeps the community alive!
Because people are happy and others unhappy and we can DISCUSS of possible best line-up!

The only real problem with the vote is when some people don't accept the choice of people who don't vote like them!

I voted Strengh but i'm not angry, i'm not disappointed at all i'm happy that even if we have no unicorn we have (may be, surely) a new cool unit the deer.

Be optimistic about the game this is the only thing you can do when you are a fan!

And if the game is bad (but it's subjective again) don'y buy it!

It's simple as that.

I want to vote again!!!

While my choice didn't end up winning (I chose Strength, by the way), I accept the result that came from it. What I'd like to know, though, is the total number of votes. Did 100 people vote? 1000? A million? Without that knowledge, it's hard to say which part of the fanbase 'decided' that we'd be getting Fury with the next installment.

All in all, I think some posters already pointed out that these votes generate controversion and controversion sparks debates. Sometimes heated debates (I'll put it mildly) - but that generates involvement. Even disappointment, despite being negative, is still an emotional response to the game, which creates a bond to it.

Regardless, this disappointment does open opportunities. Since Unicorns aren't in the Sylvan line-up, they may make an appearance in the Unicorn Duchy's line up. If not through the campaigns and such, I'm pretty sure someone will eventually make a mod that includes Griffins for the Griffin Duchy and Unicorns for the Unicorn Duchy.

Furthermore, they also said that the game will be highly adaptable. What's to prevent people from modding out the Deer to replace it with a Unicorn in the line-up? I'm pretty sure mods can't be used in the campaigns, or at least not beyond cosmetic changes - but if cosmetic changes are allowed (as they don't change functionality), then it's simply a 'paintjob' to turn Deer into Unicorns as well.

Exactly. Like wraiths were re-skinned in H5 to Death Knights. Or Treants with a thicker body.

I believe Marhzin said that there won't be unicorns in campaign tho. or at least that it's unlikely.
