@jackson

great read jackson, thats some high quality post there

i agree on your every thoughts. esspecially with only one elf + evil eye champion.

if you were dev, then i would be surely voting for dungeon instead of inferno.

i cant trust current team of heroes, sadly i expect 3-4 elves and ultra boring butter-fly designed dragon.

your line-ups, suggestions and mostly your research to sum all it up.. are golden. i hope they read your post. your efforts should be listened.

Awesome post Jackson. Some of the creatures are not my first pick for the line up but I wouldn't mind to play with what you presented.  I think its QP material. It shows that you spend a lot of  time, effort, dedication and thought on this. Well done.

Agreed, that deserves a QP in my opinion. Even so, I don't think Ubi is even going to read it so ultimately I fear it's been an exercise in futility .

Nice post Jackson, your line-up's are optimal.

I dig this Lizardman-ish Troglodyte idea, cause with Fortress-like town far on the horizon we could at least have a taste of it (or an alternative) with Dungeon's Hydra and the said Lizardman (and even Basilisk). Creature affinities can always be changed later on, so it wouldn't make the concept of a Fortress town obsolete...

As much as I like Beholders, I'm okay with Faceless as a spellcaster Champion, but if they say spellcaster he should really be one (give him 2-3 spells to choose from).

I don't like the "Riders" idea. Chimera and Basilisk are unstable creatures and thus it's hard to "tame and ride" them (besides how do you see an Elf ride on all those thorns, spikes etc? Oh and a Chimera Rider would probably be hit in the head with it's scorpion-tail every time it would attack). They'll be fine on their own ;P

You're right about this theme-coding. Towns in Heroes should have a more "liberal" flow of creatures. Making towns too theme-oriented leads to design limitations (though I don't think it'll change as long as Ubisoft holds the franchise, they invested too much time and money into this).

And finally, I dislike your "other" creature ideas. While those are some cool monsters on their own, they are too, hmmm, not-mainstream? They can be used as reference, but not as standalone units. And we somewhat get a Dire Wolf instead of Barghest for instance, and Necro will probably receive it's set of ghostly apparitions, so... oh, and remember the forest Python in Sylvan? Snakes don't have it easy to make into line-ups

Jackson, your lineup sucks. No offense buddy but it's badly overrated.

a Matriarch concept wouldn't shine though since every faction has at least 2 female units in it.

The answer is simple: they need to make sure the line-up has at least 3 or 4 female units. Problem solved.

But I guess that's not the solution you want to see.

It's not really a problem solver. I doubt Heroes 7 would even sell half the cost they spent for it if that happens.

please listen some death metal songs while you think about dungeon, its becomes too softcore to dream purple elves.

i want creatures from the heart of darkness, impressive-scary and powerful.

sexy elf snowes doesnt fit.

since we get no inferno, inferno voters should also be satisfied.

i bet many metalheadss like me wants to see badass, antihero type faction. beauty of uglyness, i need to taste it.

please, please no sexy elves, we need some twisted & cruel creatures-organizations.

at least make malassa a lot cruel than it was before. that can work too, drow elves were kinda cool with their evilness in forgetten realms.

Only if they aim the game at misogynists. But I don't think that's their target audience; most people here seem to be content with the number of female units in the lineups. I know I am.

They are not targeting it to a misandric audience either. But personally though, I would love them to try it. Say, 2 - 3 female units in every faction with an all-female lineup for Dungeon? I would love to see how that would turn out.

even if that's a joke, it wouldn't be possible. Amazons are the exact definition of manphobia man-haters. To become a full-grown Amazon Warrior, the girl has to kill her own father.

To Jackson- respect!

Wow! Amazing work on the Dungeon. Beholder/Evil Eye as a spellcasting Champion is a good idea, but too similar to D&D IMHO especially since in Heroes they were always weak (comparatively) "core" creatures. I also share your thoughts about the Chimera as a more interesting replacement for Manticore- perhaps they could even be upgrades, similar to Hellhound/Cerberus. So, my ideal line-up (nearly identical to yours) would be:

Core
Troglodyte (fungus creature instead of reptilian)
Medusa OR Evil Eye
Assassin (only Dark Elf unit)

Elite
Chimera
Minotaur
Hydra

Champion
Faceless
Black Dragon

BTW, I also think Academy should have a spellcasting Champion in the form of the Djinn, and the Arcane Bird (I would just call them Rocs) should be Elite. That's how my line-up would look like:

Core
Cabir
Golem
Sword Mage (they appear in lore and DoC- scimitar or dagger-wielding magi, perhaps able to Teleport a limited amount of times) OR Gargoyle OR Wadjet (winged serpents from Egyptian mythology)

Basically while I like their looks, I would ditch Gargoyles this time as I don't see any interesting uses for them

Elite
Roc
Raksasha OR ??? (have to think about a name- basically elephant-headed beastmen, similar in looks to the Hindu god Ganesh- which I won't use as a name since people worship him in real life and it would be offensive)
Disciple (the familiar, spellcasting/shooting mage unit)

Champion
Titan
Djinn

Looking at Jackson's compiled data, I think I would be really happy with a lineup formed with the 8 most voted creatures:

- Assassin (31)
- Evil Eye (31)
- Minotaur (35)
- Hydra (30)
- Shadow Sorceress (31)
- Manticore (28)
- Black Dragon (33)
- Faceless (22)

Minotaur would have to be core (like in H5) as I don't think sorceress, manticores or hydras as core, but I wouldn't mind it.

That lineup gets 2 shooter and a strong melee fighter on core, a flyer, a multihiter and a caster at elite and the champions are the most probable ones, both flyers. It has a couple of elves to give some flavor.

I like how that looks and I think if I see this exact setup I'll probably vote for that (unless they show something new and really good).

The only thing I would do is swap the Faceless and the Hydra. In my opinion, the Hydra is more Champion material than a Faceless. But I do understand why you would want to put them as Champion, seeing as their Haven counterpart is a Champion as well.

I'm also in favour of putting the Faceless in the champion spot along with the Black Dragons. This way you have two units with very different roles, while putting Hydras in the champion spot will result in having two damage dealers there.
